    I thought about about a transverse engine for my MGB when GM came out with their QUAD. The only thing was oil pan baffles that made it different from longitudinal. Probably brake dive.

    rather than mess with the fly-by wire, find a an all mechanical pump from a Golf TD automatic, grab the pump of it.....fit a GTD boost pin, job done, one wire to the fuel shut off and accelerator cable and your done!

    Ludi if you drill out the spot welds on the slam panel / headlight box you can bolt it back it gives you so much more room to lift out the engine, the early RRC were just bolted I did this to my 91 when I fitted the 300 tdi , it more or less goes in level. keep it up it's looking good.

    Before you welded the engine mounts in, how did you ensure the engine would be at the correct level when the mounts were welded in with the weight of the engine on the suspension?

    • @ludwigseeley6359
      @ludwigseeley6359  3 года назад +3

      The engine was sitting on a strap across the frame rails, so all the weight was on the frame, then I jacked it up from under to make adjustments. Hard part was finding a happy medium with all the constraints.

  • @1chish
    @1chish 3 года назад +1

    That was some great creative engineering again mate. I was wondering if you would fabricate a big beam across the front to use the VW engine mounting! But those lower mounts look a great job.
    And didn't that vacuum / fuel pump work out well?

    • @ludwigseeley6359
      @ludwigseeley6359  3 года назад +1

      Yeah the vacuum pump worked out fine! And yes I wanted to make a mount up front originaly but it takes up more space and not as good access to the belt system :)

      I would think you need to be careful managing the extra stress in chipping a worn engine.
