@@robot5804 Yes! I actually messaged you about that on Twitter, which I know you don't use much. Thank you so much once again for the folder you assembled, and for the kind note. I really appreciate that! I've tried to do some initial recordings, but unfortunately I can only get the game to run in full screen, and as a result the recording was a little laggy (despite it looking fine while I was playing). Do you know if there's a way to make the game windowed? I saw an option for it, but it was grayed out. I do really want to play it though, so thank you for waiting! :)
It really does come out of left field! Now we kind of just take it for granted that all Nintendo characters are kart racing or playing sports while not acting in their main roles. Thanks for watching!
It's actually not a puck, it's a ball, it's field hockey. You can see it by googling some of the original artwork with DK and Mario on a grassy field, and it's also mentioned in the manual for the game (recommend googling it if you don't have it). This game is pretty deep, you can play defensively by not hitting the ball, it'll bounce slow, or offensively and get more speed, but if you miss the ball you're not likely to save it. Also your position, if you're further away your ball won't be as speedy, there's also some speedy shots that depend on movement and exact timing. Then there's the whole thing with the moving "crazy spots" you have to be able to predict the trajectory pattern the ball will take based on angles and how they move. Not easy, but you get better at it. No RNG involved! Gets super intense, single player also is really good as the AI is really tough and it's fun to see how many rounds you can beat him as it gets harder. This game has a pause button in Game A that lasts 4 minutes, just press the second controller.
Wow! Thank you so much for such an epic comment. Without the instruction manuals, it's true that there are things about some games that I don't know. I appreciate you laying it all out like that, and going deeper beyond what I explained. Since they hockey was played with a ball rather than a puck, I suppose that's why my natural Canada instincts didn't kick in. XD And wow! A pause function? That's huge for a Game & Watch game. Thank you again for teaching me things that even I had no idea about, and thank you for checking out my video! Take care. :)
A Nintendo spin off of this game? There is Mario Sports Mix which features hockey as one of the 4 options. I think Mario Party 5 (?) had an extras mode for hockey too. My cousins play hockey. I remember this game being featured in the Game Gallery Museum for 3. I never figured out what those things in the middle did from the demo gameplay.
It's an interesting thought that the plus shaped D-pad originates with the game and watch series. Intellivision had a circular D-pad, but Nintendo invented the plus sign D-pad. It later ended up on Famicom and NES controllers, and now today it's still used on modern controllers made by Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft.
Nintendo invented the plus shaped D pad, The diamond formation of buttons (A, B, X, Y), L and R buttons, and many other things. They really shaped the video game controllers we know today!
@@TheGameDisplay I read that Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario and Zelda, was the guy who created the SNES controller. The diamond formation of YBXA and shoulder buttons were borrowed by almost every company afterwards.
I think the reasen is a very high quality and a very good game play. That's the key for their success. I love these games. Greetings from RetroGameCity :-)
I love these games. If you want you can play against your friends. Really great game. I played it very often. Thank you and greetings form RetroGameCity :-)
Donkey kong hockey? This one sounds interesting
Is this perhaps the first ever Nintendo sports spinoff? :o
Almost 30 DAYS of Game and watch!
This has been a good series
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
I can’t wait to see a review or two on the fanmade game of Donkey Kong country 4 if it happens. 🤞

Another Donkey Kong and its Hockey. That's not what I expected. Still pretty cool overall.

A+ review, Andrew.
So this is the Micro Vs. System and the ones in arcades are the Macro Vs. System. Haha
Haha, that's a good way of looking at it! Thanks for watching. :)

play this game about 30years ago..
Oh, then If you see it again, I think you will get back a lot of memories :-)
Game and watch systems are adorable, I don’t know why.
They really are! :)

Good series Andy 👍
Thank you so much! We're reaching the end now, but I'm really happy that you and so many others have enjoyed it! :)

Thank you so much for watching! It really is a neat game. I see you're doing a series of reviews as well. Keep up the good work! :)
Is this the last Game and Watch review going to be one of tabletop version of Donkey Kong Jr.?
I unfortunately don't own it, but the game is identical to the panorama version.
Omg it exists
I found this for 80$. Is it worth it in your opinion? Looks a lot of fun
I would pick it up for that price!
@@TheGameDisplay thx
Only for 80$. With the original packaging and the manual instruction? It would be a bargain. Greetings form RetroGameCity
@@RetroGamesCity it was loose, but I lost it. Then I got a DK3 loose for 50$
