    The reason for the "weird" eye colors are contrasts. Blue and orange are complementary colors, as are red and green. For the brown guy, blue works as a contrast color as well.

    These guys had some of the best masks of any Toa series, with Nokama, Nuju and Onewa being real standouts. These guys really blew my mind when they came out, given that they had WAY more articulation than anything that came before them. Metru Nui also had some of the best lore and settings IMO. • @ZeldaTheSwordsman
      @ZeldaTheSwordsman 5 лет назад

      @@neitherlink6612 By that logic Tahu and Kopaka have swords for hands and Lewa has an axe for a hand.
      Mata!Gali's actual hands are represented by the axle sockets of her arms, just like those 3. The only exception to that rule is Onua.
      The Mata were designed as Technic Rock'em Sock'em Robots first, and action figures second. And they do have better gear functionality than the Metru.

    It is possible to "lock" the gears. Place a large Mata gear on an axle coming out of the top axle hole in their torso. I usually will move the axle 3 which commonly occupies that space down one, and then put a studded axle 3, with gear, into the back. This allows the gear to be pushed in and pulled out with little to no effort, effectively "locking" and "unlocking" the gear function.

  • @GuyThePCGamer
    @GuyThePCGamer 10 лет назад

    I personally never thought of the white axle rod for the gear function as a con, I always thought of it as their heartlights.

  • @takanuinuva
    @takanuinuva 10 лет назад

    There is one con I found with the toa metru torsos. The axle connector at the very bottom had a tendancy to split at least on mine. It made the grey axle at the bottom attach loosely and tended to slide out. I kinda fixed the problem by putting a grey axle in the middle.

    The jet pack function actually doesn't require flipping the disk launcher upside down, last I checked. His disk launcher has flames molded into it that I assume represent the jets used to give him flight. Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks odd to have the flames pointed up to represent flying.

      @Ennard Fnaf I got some Bionicle figures at the flea market in August and Matau was one of them, I did a MOC where he's shorter to fit his elder form and Tahu Nuva and Kopaka Nuva are now taller to fit with the 2015 sets.
      It's all part of my Bionicle story where the original Makuta comes back in a smaller form and recruits previous enemies from G1.
      I even have my own Takanuva using the Keetongu pieces 'cause an assortment of parts from Goodwill and I have the Takanuva mask in its active state.

      @Ennard Fnaf I don't have G2 Tahu, so I had him die with only his 2015 mask remaining and he gets reborn.

    Vakama's disk launcher isn't supposed to be turned upside down to make the jetpack, you can see it by the flames that it's supposed to be upright

    I always thought the white axel piece in their chest was kinda cool, since it tied in with the fact they all had that white light in their chests in the second movie. If anything it's worse, in my opinion, on Nuju because it *isn't* so prominent.

    I like how, for the most part, their heights were consistent from Toa to Turaga. Nokama got a little short, and Onewa grew in height, but otherwise, it's well done.
    Could you lock the gears by just placing a large gear on a + axle on their back? I don't remember off the top of my head if it would work, but I'd still try it.
    The grey on these guys looks great. It was later that they were broken. The blue pins also weren't that bad here, because they were just on the hands.
    I like the different eye colors. It just looks good to me.
    For the record, Onewa's weapons go on his back upside down for some reason. It looks retarded, but that's what the instruction manual says (lego.brickinstructions.com/08000/8604/015.jpg) :P

    i have always loved the gear function too. however, i have also always hated that at least with the earlier figures, this meant shoulders with only one directional movement namely forward and backward and incapable of moving independently. so i'm just wondering if anyone out there knows a modification to keep the gear function, but also get independently articulating and fully maneuverable shoulders (like on ball joints).

    Eljay, when you get to 2008, are you going to be reviewing the Phantoka Makuta separately from the Phantoka Toa Nuva? Same with the Mistika and Av/Shadow Matoran.

  • @TheMasterChord

    The Toa Metru really were some cool-looking sets. They did look a bit more biomechanical and tougher than the Mata and Nuva teams--fitting for the dystopian, heavily urbanized setting. I almost collected them all; I just never got Nokama, for some reason.

  • @michaelscott957

    Blue pins are a con? Eh... seems pretty picky, it's really a minor thing, and in some sets can even add "mechanicaliness"
