Patients must be evaluated by an appropriate healthcare provider on an individual basis and treatment must be tailored to meet that patient’s needs. I like that Dr Linkov takes a more conservative approach, especially with younger patients, since he considers how the patient’s results will change over time. *That’s* what a good doctor does!
that should be a normal consideration actually... is the standard for drs in America that low?

You literally saved that guy at the last part. I also thought about going to Turkey, but eventually went to another doctor, paid a bit more, and he recommended only 1300 grafts and conservatively place them (not lowering the hairline). Honest doctors like you are so needed in this industry that is full of scammers.
How is your transplant going?
Seems like Turkish doctors want to cram in as many grafts as possible, completely obliterating the donor area. So in 20 years, when your MPB has progressed significantly, as it inevitably will, you won't be able to have any more transplants to fill in the new bald spots. So the end result will look very unusual and unnatural. I guess that within the next few decades, we're going to see a fuckton of guys coming out and complaining about their botched Turkish hair transplant. They wont be able to fix the damage, either. Fuck that.
They wanted to scam him with more graftz than needed
Turkey has some of the best most experienced doctors in the world. They also have some of the worst
If you research and choose the right place you'll get some of the best transplant possible for a fair price
@@jss.2020 He probably thought he needed it and they hadn't bothered changing his mind until he'd get there. He was obviously exaggerating his problem
That is so generous of you to have a free consultation day. Everyone who talked to him, very cool of them for their strength and vulnerability to talk to Dr. Gary. How cool that the man going to Turkey got to talk to You before he left for his transplant!!!

Ah, chill out, don’t troll too hard, dude lost it months ago due to alopecia. I think the original comment wasn’t meant to deliberately denigrate (even though it pretty clearly does, so, if anything, that tells us something about its level of insight, as does its grammar). Still, the irony exists. Even if it is pointed out by a “beta.“ 😆
I think that's why he covers his head. Even if he's a doctor some idiots would say "bro I'm not gonna believe you if you can't fix your own hair !"
Dr Linkov is not suffering from Androgenic Alopecia. But more like an autoimmune issue. That's why.
i was able to control hair fall and make my hair stronger by doing these things: 1- i started eating more food with protein and vitamins like lentils, avocadoes, berries, chia seeds, nuts, beans, plain greek yogurt, spinach, soy bean etc. 2- i did yoga or exercise every day for 15 minutes to improve blood flow. 3- i ate more protein and less junk food. 4- i started drinking 6-7 glasses of water every day. 5- i stopped using my old hair products and chose LitttleExtra's coconion anti hair fall kit instead. 6- i only applied oil to my hair in the evening because it attracts dust and pollution during the day. 7- i stopped using a plastic comb and started using a neem comb. by taking care of my habits and using the right products, i was able to solve my hair problems.
All the things you mentioned won't do shit for a male

1:39 Ay that was me. It was great to talk the doctor himself. Yeah I’ve been considering studying the genetic aspect of hair loss for quite some time. I’m really interested in the hereditary patterns from different ethnicities and areas. Apparently the native Americans had the smallest frequency of Male Pattern Baldness. The East Asians as well also have significantly lower rates compared to the rest of the world.
Thanks for stopping by!
Just to add to Garys response your mothers father lost a lot of ground kinda out of no where from 50-90 is because his hair follicles became more sensitive over time to the hormone DHT (thats mostly if not all responsible for androgenetic alopecia.) The common misconception is that DHT becomes higher with age but in reality its actually the opposite. DHT lowers with age because so does testosterone (testosterone converts to DHT via the 5ar enzyme) so if T lowers with age then obviously so does DHT. Also not sure of native Americans but in the case of asians the reason why they have significantly lower rates of AGA compared to the rest of the world is simply because they usually have lower levels of DHT. You have prob heard the stereotype that asians cant grow facial hair or a lot of body hair (DHT is responsible for most if not all facial hair and body hair) and while not true for all asians obviously it is the case for a lot of asian men due to genetically having lower DHT then other races. Thanks for reading this nerdy mess :d
@@eveningsnackman817 that’s a lot of information to consider. It’s not purely a racial thing. 2 brothers could have completely different patterns so there is an unknown variability to it.
@@trustymilkshake Yeah its def not purely a racial thing and the reason why 2 brothers could have a completely different pattern of male pattern baldness could be the sensitivity to DHT and different levels of DHT in the hair follicles. For example one brother could have a full head of hair meaning that hair follicles are not so sensitive and the other could be completely bald meaning that hair follicles are sensitive to DHT. The genes for hair loss can come from anyone in your family and i mean anyone. All of your close family could have full heads of hair but then boom your balding at 15.
@@eveningsnackman817 youre suggesting that hairloss comes solely from DHT? Thats how your comment reads anyway and im not sure if thats what youre saying or are you saying DHT plays a significant role but isnt the only reason?

When I was 16 , I used to be really obsessed with my hair (I remember getting mad if for any reason someone touches it lol) . Now that I'm 33 , I don't really care at all . I'm not bald but , if at any point in my life I had strong hair loss , I would just cut it all ( not like Bruce Willis style, but 0,5mm bigger) . Lossing your hair doesn't make you less man, it is still going to be you. I wish I had known it when I was 16 , it would have saved me a lot of anxiety .
Now , all my support to the robot who is suffering hair lost , THAT should be hard xD.

Very cool interviews, Dr. Gary. That was nice of you to do. As a 58-year-old male, my protocols have been the same for over a decade. FUE transplant 10 years ago with 1200 graphs. I wasn't bald but thinning noticiably. Daily topical minoxidil, Revian Red laser light therapy daily, weekly derma rolling, and now I've replaced the topical minoxidil with the oral minoxidil/finasteride. I've only been taking the oral pill form for 8 days now. My hair still looks good. Some normal 58-year-old recession but being proactive, I believe, has been very helpful.
Have you noticed any health issues?
you're having issues at. 58.. imagine us 24 year olds here noticeably thinning. I don't care if I have hair loss at 60 lol. At 24, it's embarrassing.
Imagine how wonderful would be if all doctors took some time for free consultations.

Doc, fantastic video. Thanks for all your content; I’ve just really begun to discover it. Your approach is so refreshing and different from the sermons I received years and years ago at the beginning of my own career. I`m so glad i found your channel Doc! Cleared up a lot of misinformation for me and I`m currently doing microneedling+PRP on my temples before going for the drugs. The side effects are too scary for me.
What is PRP? And side effects you mean with finasteride?
@@citizenz4640 Yes i meant Finasteride primarily. PRP means platelet rich plasma. It's found in your blood and is the part that accelerates the healing of injuries and wounds. So you apply some PRP on your head or face and Microneedle as usual. It's also known as Vampiric Microneedling.
Would really love some hair thinning advice too! It’s really frustrating to deal with thinning especially since thick hair runs in our family. I had very thick hair as well till I started using a dandruff shampoo that’s when I really noticed how fine mines gotten

And this is why Gary Linkov is an actual G in the hair loss community. Sure you could chalk it up to being savvy business promotion or whatever. This was real information, consultations people would (unfortunately) have to pay egregious amounts for typically, and delivered in a man on the street fashion that makes it seem like Linkov has an answer to pretty much any good question within his field and the personality to match. He is the bald warrior (alopecia areata) we don't deserve!
I'd say it's mediocre.
- Didn't inform white shirt guy of finasteride side effects. We can argue about it's side effect profile, but at least explain DHT and 5-ari roughly, lol.
- Recommended black shirt guy to get on oral minoxidil, while it's side effect profile is likely significantly worse than topical form, just because of compliance rate of a pill...?
Advice to the guy going to hair transplant I can agree 100% though. Look in his glassess (what an oversight 🥴) even when the guy pulls on his hair, thinning isn't significant enough to fight through YT's compression.
Yeah I find it uncomfortable how quickly he is to tell people to get on Finasteride as if it's a vitamin c tablet.
I'm doing finasteride every other day, topical minoxidil 0.7mL daily, microneedling every 2-4 weeks at 1.5mm depth with Derminator 2, and RU-58841 0.7mL topical daily. I completely stopped my hair loss with the finasteride and minoxidil, and have even slightly recovered my hairline and crown after introducing the microneedling. I'm hoping to continue making progress with microneedling. I was a Norwood 2 roughly with notable thinning on top before any interventions, and am now closer to Norwood 1 with no notable thinning on top. Its definitely a possibility to not only stop hair loss, but also recover hair and even hairline without surgical intervention. The key is being consistent over a long period of time. This requires patience and diligence. I am 39, soon to be 40, and have been on my hair recovery journey for 3 years now.
I love his honesty and his knowledge . I want to make an appointment asap.
I actually enjoyed that and Dr. Gary you were so nice and helpful with those men! I love ur bedside manner.💜
Thanks for the content Dr. Gary. I was actually diagnosed with alopecia a few weeks after I graduated college. Thankfully it’s only in my beard. After my 3rd pregnancy last year, my hair was shedding like crazy for at least 3 months. I didn't know what was going on because I didn't experience that with the first 2. It finally stopped thank God. But I do feel for people who are losing their hair, it's scary.
That’s Telegon effluvium which is veryyyy common with child birth. I’m glad it finally stopped for you!
The philosophy of "starting small" and moving to finasteride once the hair loss is quite advanced is not a good approach, in my opinion. Finasteride is extremely effective at *preventing* further hair loss, but mediocre at regrowing lost hair. It therefore follows that the earlier you get on it, the more hair you are likely to preserve.

Interested in hearing your response to the young man with the mop of red hair. I had Norwood one straight through to my late 50s. I got comments from barbers for my thick hair. In the past 5 years I've gone to a 3 vertex. I'm fine with it. I'm 65, and very comfortable. I just use clippers myself to crop it really short and I really like the look. Genetics can be funny sometimes, though. 😉
Hey I’m that guy with the red hair. Yeah typically I knew guys in their late 30s with receding hairlines and would develop thin crowns at 40. Rarely did men with bald genes keep them till 50. I’m sure there’s an exception to every rule. I was just talking about from my general impression.
@@trustymilkshake Yeah, that's been my experience, too. I knew guys who lost their hair starting in their 20s, 30s and 40s. I'm rather surprised that my hair loss started so recently, basically in my late 50s, early 60s. Oh well. Everyone's different, I guess.

Caught the main issue with Turkish clinics in this one. They do high volume meatgrinder surgury with way to many grafts and try to give people a teenage low hairline that will look horrible in 5 years. Difference of 2000 grafts between what they suggests and whet he suggests.

Do you know what it means if you feel pain on the hairs that are falling out, ever since my hair started receding the follicles on my corners and crown hurt whenever I moved my hair once I started finasteride the pain went away but I can't explain why I even get that.
One of my friend got an hair transplant 3 months ago, and it didn't do anything on the long term... At first it was choking how much hair he had "grown" back, but then they started to fall off super quickly again. He is super sad about it because it was really expensive and he worked hard to get that, but he still keeps loosing his hair so fast he has nearly no hair left on the top part of his head, the sides are fine but he has to shave completly cause its ugly otherwise. I'm also having hair loss and we're both 26 yo.. But we both know in one or two years we will be bald and i wish i could have my hair back, bald doesn't suit me at all and i'm scared i'll never find my "someone" if i'm..
The hairs from the transplant fall out but the follicle is still there. Those hairs are just restarting their growth cycle and will regrow and look normal from 4-12 months after the procedure.

I really wish him the best of luck, seems super genuine, just misinformed. Shows why your work and your channel are so important!!
I recently had a doctor who had a transplant from Turkey, and his looked great!! So I hope this works out for him! How awesome that he got to talk to Dr. Gary before going!
Edit: spelling because my fat fingers hit the wrong keys
