I love the vaguely Chinese/Japanese feeling of the opening bars. Besides the Japanese, who sent more troops than every other power combined (understandable, seeing as they were the closest), a couple thousand Chinese Christians aided the coalition, since they were in the Boxers’ sights as well. Truly the strangest war ever.

55 dagen in Peking (German Inspired) this is the 1st verse of the Dutch translation, 2nd will follow but not now. I hope that my lyrics are a bit ok.
Het jaar is 1900, je hoort de trommels slaan, opweg naar Peking za-hal (za-hal as in zal but in 2 different tones) Nederland weer gaan. De vlammen reiken tot de hemel, de dood sleepte zich veeleisend voort. Hij reisde door Peking o-hop (as in op but again to 2 tones) weg weer naar de poort. De opkomst van de boxers, wiens bestaan haatdragend is, het leek allemaal zo makkelijk maar wat was dat een vergis’ (vergissing) En je hoort de trommels dreunen, en je hoort de bugels gaan allemaal samen sturen wij ze uit de laan.
