Interesting ,if not entirely accurate. David S had the mustache in season 4 not 3.
The so called bromance was there from the beginning as the guys grew to be very good friends. As was the humor and adlibbed lines. The French weren’t the only ones doing it.
These were two fine actors trying to elevate what would have been a very tired formulaic show about a striped tomato car. I would say since we are still talking about it 45 years later, they succeeded.

Happy to know I wasn´t the only crazy, ha, ha. Some more years (25 years ago) the show was presented on Fox and I was able to record on VHS but unfortunately, never got DVDs. Starsky carried a 45ACP. The 357 Hutch carried was to much. The 357 was banned for urban carry because the bullet would go through the person shot and may also kill someone down the block. The 45 ACP was a better in city gun because the bullet was bigger and slower but would put a person down within the parameters that cops could engage criminals. The US army felt that the 45ACP was good enough for close quarter combat they adopted it as the official side arm for American soldiers. The 357 is to fast and powerful for urban confrontation between police and criminals. The 45ACP was just right to put a big hole in a criminal without worrying if someone down the street got shot too. Starsky had the smart gun. Not Hutch.

I am glad they didn't replace him with his brother. That would never have worked & there could never be another Starsky other than Paul Michael Glaser. Also I am very glad they did not kill him off in Sweet Revenge. I loved the ending so very much. Unfortunately the producers & writers failed to see Paul & David's excellent abilities & potential as Directors to keep the show going for several more years. The show & stars are even more loved now then way back then. You had a gold mine & failed to see it. Their friendship & chemistry together made the show. The 2004 movie did not do the show or stars justice. I would love to see them together in another movie now!!!

    • @barbarabrusatori8585
      @barbarabrusatori8585 Год назад +1

@Renee L. That isn't the correct reason for the ending of the series. Part of the reason was because of the Producer Joseph Naar, who was not going to come back because of a contract negotiation with Joseph 's agent, who said the contract was to good to pass up & Paul & David said they would not come back if Joseph Naar left. .this was told in a Surcon in 2013/2014 by Joseph Naar himself. So get your facts straight & don't mislead their fans. Thank you. One Paul & David are Starsky & Hutch!!!♥️♥️

My dad had a 76 Gran Torino Sport, painted just like Starsky and Hutch. I learned how to drive in it when i was 16 (2006). Then i almost died in it almost 5 years ago when i got into a wicked bad accident. I still have the scars from the accident on my left ear. I helped my Dad build it and work on it, and we both share some great memories with the car. We also would sit down and bing watch the original TV show and the movie when it came out. There you go! I was not a fan of Hutches mustache either. I have to hand it to Mr. Glaser because, if the show continued after season 4, they would’ve jumped the shark. He made the right decision to leave and David Soul would’ve never continued the show without Paul. Love & respect them both.

Marilyn Crawford I don’t think PMG had any insecurities about his looks or anything else for that matter. He certainly was not just Hutch’s side kick. He and David made sure of that from the opening scene of the pilot. Theirs was a great professional team and even better friends. Have you ever seen another tv duo that could communicate better? The directors would often scrap dialogue because their looks to each other could convey volumes.

In Germany, they also dubbed the show with many jokes and funny banter (something they did with many shows that were more popular here than in their original country, for example Hogan's Heroes).
I think the first 2 seasons of the show were brilliant, but the forced change for more social issues and such (plus PMG's ego) really destroyed it towards the end. Season 4 completely runs out of steam and I wish they had done more episodes like in season 1 and 2.
I mostly watched this show for:
    - the great 70s vibe and settings
    - seeing how people lived back then or how cheap stuff was
    - the many, pretty women!
    - the "daily life" of the two cops
The crime stuff didn't really interest me much, it was really mostly the more "soap opera" kind of stuff that was brilliant to me.

@@marciamonteirodemoraes7561 Olá. Desculpe a demora. Realmente.

Fiquei empolgada. Boa noite!

No, Hutch used a Colt Python 357 Magnum whereas Dirty Harry used Smith and Wesson 29 in .44 Magnum. They don’t even look alike. Get your facts straight,

I am relatively sure you are wrong on the gun. Dirty Harry carried a Smith & Wesson Model 29, 44 Magnum. Hutch carried a Colt Python, 357 Magnum. In the pilot the barrel was shorter. He soon went to the 6 inch model. They look nothing alike, the Colt has a ribbed barrel, it's most distinctive feature.

100 percent true yes .... in the pilot Hutch carried a small detective special Smith & Wesson ... then the next episode a 4 inch Colt Python .357 .... the following episode he went to the same Python .357 but 6 inch barrel ... and carried that throughout the series, a much more fitting sidearm for HUTCH ( it had black rubber Pachmayr grips too ) - Starsky carried a Colt 1911 .45 ACP in the pilot then switched to the Smith Model 59 9mm.

I grew up with starsky and hutch both actors was a class act all the way many shows copied that formula but only Paul m glasses and David soul truly had the chemistry that has never been equaled side note David soul grew that mustache at beginning off the fourth season .not the third .and the best episodes off s and h were the ones that Paul m glasser directed season two blood bath season three deck watch season 4 Ballard for a blue lady all these episodes were excellent and showed Paul’s gift at his craft those episodes alone is the tv series and Paul hated the Torino cause he thought it was ridiculous that 2 detectives would drive a car like that plus he said it didn’t handle an perform well they used 2 1974 Torino for the pilot show 2 , 1975 Torino’s for season 1 2 1976 ford Torino’s with 460 v8 for remainder off the series the 2 1976 Torino’s that were left over from the show are still around 👍😊

What these videos don't tell you whenever they mention certain "behavior towards women" back in the 70's is that the behavior was overall mutual in the culture back then. Women would pinch men's behinds in certain playful or even flirtatious scenarios just as much. But with today's feminist hypocrisy it's become quite the custom to demonize men for the same behavior as women.

I liked Hutch the best. As a young kid, I thought the car was cool. I DID NOT LIKE the stupid comedic movie. The only actor that reasonably was properly cast was Snoop Dogg. I also don't consider 170M in revenue a hit. Given production costs and marketing budgets, it probably barely made any money. The better indication it failed, given the laziness in Hollywood, was no sequel. I think some of the show was actually filmed in Long Beach (like where Hutch lived). Finally, you seem to remember their mistreating women (which I don't), but you don't seem to remember with few Black actors of any substance on TV, Huggy Bear (and Rooster on Baretta, who was a pimp I believe) fit every horrible stereotype of Black men. Huggy was basically JJ from Good TImes but in L.A., it was embarrassing.

You apparently know absolutely nothing about firearms , starsky carried a Colt Python 357 Magnum , dirty Harry Callahan carried a Smith & Wesson model 29 44 Magnum FYI hutch carried a Smith & Wesson 9 mm .
