      This campground was a pleasant surprise to us! Juniper Springs Campground would be more popular if they had some sights with power and water, otherwise, this park is right up there with others we have been to! TY for your kind words and support!

    I was born and raised in Florida. I've been watching your tours of the springs. Wonderful memories of my childhood, camping all around the state at most of these. They certainly have changed over the years, greatly improved. They used to be more primative.

      @@CampTravelExplore yes please. The run here, if you don't rush it, takes about 5 hours all down stream and they pick you up at the end. My fav canoe run for sure. There is also a spot at the half way point you can stop and eat lunch. Ticks are bad tho.

    I have kayaked down Juniper springs many times. There are some small rapids about 3/4 of the way down. We had a lot of rain this year and I didn't think anything of it. 3 of us decided to kayak down the 7 mile run. I got knocked out of my Kayak 3 times. The current was so bad even though I had my bobber on my go pro it ended up floating downstream in the current so fast I never found it. Just a warning for everyone to check the water currents. I knew I was going to tip over once I saw the rapids but the other 2 times I was slid up against logs and tipped over. Every one of us went in at one time or another. Beware of hornets also. They are generally in the bushes in full sun just in case you get pushed by the current that way. I was stung 7 times on that trip also. It was a tough trip but I wouldn't change a thing. We still had fun.

  • @imillionaires

    In the spring I should have my hybrid trailer. So is it safe for bears? For example cooking in camper and smell of food. It also has an outdoor kitchen. I had a close call with a Grizzly in Alaska when taking pictures of a bear teaching her cub to swim. Cub took off and passed 20 ft in front of me and of course mom chased after it. Tour guide was ready with bear spray and we froze.

    • @CampTravelExplore
      @CampTravelExplore  4 года назад

      Black bears in Florida are not dangerous in my view, they do ask that you keep your food stored properly, but I have never heard of a bear incident with a camper in Florida and I have lived here 50 years! Go and enjoy!

    One of our favorite National Forest campgrounds. Great camping and wonderful swimming, kayaking, canoeing. A week after one of our trips there a teenage girl was attacked and killed by an alligator at a spring along the Juniper Springs Run.

      Beautiful spring and park! Didn't know about the girl, so sad.

      Yes, unfortunately people swim where they shouldn't even though it looks like the perfect place to swim. They even recommend you do not get out of your kayaks. Juniper springs has a high concentration of alligators compared to the other ones. Every time I kayak down there I see one or two alligators and they see so many people they are not afraid of us. RIP to the young lady.

    I just went there a few days ago. The sign at front says camping is $31 per night. But when you call to book a night there..... they ALSO CHARGE 9 dollars fee and a couple more dollars TAX. So, it is VERY EXPENSIVE. Be aware that your GARMIN will take you close but NOT exactly there. My Garmin showed it was in the middle of NOTHING.... and I had to drive 7 more miles. Another problem we had was we couldn't find all the WONDERFUL things mentioned in this video because the park is very large and there is NO MAP to guide you. I highly recommend it if you are YOUNG (I'm not). Book your reservation ONLINE... not when you drive up to the gate like we did.
