Back in the 80s I lived in Florida and I loved it a little place I can't tell you about but when I lived there near the beach when you got tired of saltwater you could go across the road into the forest and jump into ice cold freshwater spring so cold you could not swim very deep you could keep your beer ice down in the water it was lovely
In Winter Park, a terrific Scenic boat tour through tropical canals connecting a chain of lakes, and the Morse Museum's collection of Louis Comfort Tiffany glass and art (considered finest in the world), both for about $25 if you buy a soda.
The Millhopper in Gainesville also a little known destination. Unique because of the terrain that drops about 200 feet into an ancient sinkhole that creates an environment like being in more hilly state. Maybe bump the Everglades tour for the Millhopper as the Everglades is no secret.
Juniper Springs. You can canoe or kayak down the run into unspoiled Florida. About 3 hours later you stop and they come and get you. No paddling upstream!!!
This video is awesome!!! I’m a proud Floridian and I was pleasantly surprised when you mentioned the Thai Buddhist Temple!! I live right down this street from this location and it is truly beautiful and one of a kind!!
Great ideas! I knew I'd be watching this video again 1/2 way through and making notes. About to map this out and see how many trips to FL I need to plan before I can just chill on the beach there.... so I did this and it looks like about 4 different trips. BUT it is awesome because each one of these areas is near other cool cities and there is always a beach not far away. Love Florida!
1>Myakka River State Park : wall to wall gators 2> Playa Linda Beach ,Cape Canaveral National Seashore; The best ocean beach in Florida 3> Cedar Key : what Florida used to look like 4>Withlacoochee Bike Trail ; 46 one -way miles through the forest and only one small climb
Go to Playalinda during the week, and you'll share the beach with maybe one other person surf fishing. I used to live in Titusville. Also is the north end still a nude beach?
I lived in citrus county for 20 yrs I can vouch the sister springs is beautiful..but the place known as the crack off the Chassahowitzka river is probably the best hidden gem in the county imo
Wakulla....lol....didn't expect to see anyone list it. I lived there for 25 years or more. Wakulla Springs is ok, but I wouldn't list it alone or over just saying the Wakulla River and say Mashes Sands, some places in Alligator Point, Sopchoppy River, ect.... It is pretty in some places, but weather damage and by human fault it has some definite rough patches.

Thank you. I'm a transplant so probably biased, but all the don't come here we hate you stuff is pretty silly. Tourism = $ and jobs. I live in the Orlando area and yeah it can be irritating getting around with all the extra vehicles being driven by confused tourists but what am I supposed to do? Tell people to stop taking vacations? Go spend their money elsewhere? Florida is beautiful. I love it here. Makes sense other people will too.
All I would ask is if you come and decide to stay bring a great attitude and keep it. Don’t complain about the heat or how it was better back north or my favorite how it’s getting too crowded. Florida is constantly changing as is natural due to its popularity so its not going to stop changing just because you moved here.
As a 60 year old life long resident of Florida (NW), I agree, in part with what you're saying. Tourism does bring revenue to the state, however, I hate that the wonderful and mostly deserted beaches that we combed as children have disappeared, such as Grayton and Blue Mountain. I loved having the beach all to ourselves, now they've become overcrowded. We locals rarely even go to the beach because of the rude tourist who think nothing of leaving our once pristine beaches a trashy mess. I don't what to sound mean, or selfish, yes come, stay a while but please leave our beautiful Emerald Coast as beautiful as you found. And stop building on the beach, there is plenty of land available off the sand. Leave our beaches as they were meant to be.
I am also keeping them to myself the other best places you have not mentioned -:) Florida is very crowded as it is (and getting worse by the day!) so, let's all keep our little known secret spots to ourselves! -:) I might have discovered some of those places by myself! lol.... There are still things to explore in Florida...
I grew up in soflo, but have recently lived in, VA, NH, TN(not my favorite), and OR, by FAR my favorite. I'm sorry but the things here are sooooo touristy...for real getaway and nature feel, you cant beat the PNW...the mountains are amazing, tons of places to really hike, beautiful oceanside. Plus the pay SUCKS, I'm an RN and when I look at pay AND cost of living, FL falls realllllllllllyyyyyy short. I do love scuba diving though, but honestly there are other states that provide wayyyyy more variety without having to drive super far away.

All the citizens in Florida get together and vote on whether we want other people to know about certain places. If we don't want others to know we force the mapmakers to remove them from maps and GPS units so they can't be found. We managed to keep the Keys a total secret until just a few years ago and now look. Disney has actually been here since the 1930's but we hid it behind Palm Trees. We still don't let outsiders know about the Florida mountains and the great skiing we have.
Good thing tourists and a lot of Floridians didn't know about Bunker Hill, you could watch the Disney fireworks from there. It "was" the highest point in Osceola county, but they built a timeshare on it and took the top part of the hill for fill. Had some good party's up there bitd the lasers would go right over our heads from epcot and the fireworks were awesome from there!
Downtown micanopy is full of great antique stores. Florida Southern University' s architecture was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright! Just about any state park in Florida is well maintained.
Much more to Fort DeSoto than what is described here. Great place to hunt shells and there are old causeways and gun emplacements underwater to explore. If you have a boat, there are several small islands to party on.
It all depends on what you like. I know a few places to go canoeing that are absolutely amazing. But i have been to almost all of these and admit they are really cool places to see.
The great thing about chipley and marianna is it's only an hour from Panama city beach :) because besides what the video mentioned there is absolutely nothing to do in those towns.
Cough, cough! Red tide everywhere. After 10 years on Siesta Key and stepping over dead fish being shovelled off by caterpillar trucks at 6 a.m., I left. It comes more often than it goes and is awful.
I lived in Brooksville Fla. West coast gulf of Mexico side of fla. What a beautiful place to live. Never bored , always something to do. Especially, my favorite .. MUD BOGGING , I really miss living there.
I would say econfina Spring system in bay county but sadly its pretty much closed due to Michael and also i believe the caverns are still closed due to Michael ... but the heavy rains made falling waters state park at that time like ana Ruby Falls in GA!
Chipley is also home to the Seacrest Wolf Preserve, where you can purchase a private tour to experience the wolves up close! I had a fantastic time when I went with my husband. We got to howl with the wolves and give them belly rubs. ❤ The guides were very knowledgeable and professional!
Ha Ha Ha , you should of seen the Black Hammock Fish Camp back in the 50's and 60'. That's when Dick and Lillian Van Camp owned it , It was real then and one great spot to spend time. I would list all of the spots mentioned on here as minor tourist spots except for the State Park ones. Even us locals like to spend time at the state parks .
Blue Springs in Volusia Co. West of Daytona Beach is great in the summer because the water is 72 degrees year round and in the winter the manatees gather there.

not around the villages they buying all the land putting up strip malls and sub divisions check it out how much land and natural woodlands and marshes they have wrecked to make a buck
These are all popular destinations and the Everglades take up about a 1/3 of the state so no hidden secret there. Devils Den (#1) I would not suggest visiting unless your a diver or plan on at least snorkeling it. Number 1 should have been the freshwater springs that can be found all throughout North Florida. Florida has the highest concentration of freshwater springs in the world and some of the rivers that are formed by them are crystal clear, deep and drinking water clear, and also stay the same temperature year round (average 71f).
I really enjoyed this video! If you are interested in a new viewers opinion, a map showing where the cities are within the state would be great. You made a fantastic video as it stands though!
So many of these are in the west or south florida. Please highlight some of the eastern areas next time. There are a ton of things to do that aren’t just in south florida or tampa!
Great stuff and shhhh! don't tell them about all the great stuff, show them pics of the super sized spiders and big ass gators! That's how we keep them up north!
@Robert Grubbs please define “hood” please. Most people tend to refer to any black neighborhoods as hood so I’m trying to figure out if that’s what you are saying for a city that is almost 60% white
Thanks for the great video! Now that the hubs is retired I’m hoping after this Covid gets under control we can take the camper to Florida & visit all over the state. Also my bff lives there so I have selfish reasons for wanting to go. Lol. He can fish while we catch up. It’s a win/win.

fewer and fewer places without traffic unfortunately the last 3 years it's gotten ridiculously packed

Devil's Den, Blue Springs, Edison Ford Museum, Silver Springs, A Day Away Bioilumminescent Kayak tours in Merritt Island
Great video, thanks for posting.
Great choices and a good overview of some of the hidden gems in Florida.
These are all popular destinations and the Everglades take up about a 1/3 of the state so no hidden secret there. Devils Den (#1)
I would not suggest visiting unless your a diver or plan on at least snorkeling it. Number 1 should have been the freshwater springs that can be found all throughout North Florida. Florida has the highest concentration of freshwater springs in the world and some of the rivers that are formed by them are crystal clear, deep and drinking water clear, and also stay the same temperature year round (average 71f).
Payne's prarie is filling back up with water. Adventure outdoors, north of Milton, nice place.
Hot mineral springs in North Port Charlotte, Fl is a really nice place to visit
The springs is located in North Port
You forgot Devils Mill hopper in Gainsville FL
Millhopper is one awesome sinkhole👍
Has anybody been to the Don Garlits drag racing museum, or the Auto Museum in Tallahassee?
I really enjoyed this video! If you are interested in a new viewers opinion, a map showing where the cities are within the state would be great. You made a fantastic video as it stands though!
So many of these are in the west or south florida. Please highlight some of the eastern areas next time. There are a ton of things to do that aren’t just in south florida or tampa!
Great stuff and shhhh! don't tell them about all the great stuff, show them pics of the super sized spiders and big ass gators! That's how we keep them up north!
😂😂😂😂
Yep, I think they breed in my neighborhood in Lehigh 🕷
Mosquitos!
Come on. Every Central Floridian knows you don't go to Sanford.
@Robert Grubbs please define “hood” please. Most people tend to refer to any black neighborhoods as hood so I’m trying to figure out if that’s what you are saying for a city that is almost 60% white
Some nice areas here, closer to Lake Mary. Fortunate to be living in one of them. But yeah alot of Sanford is pretty ghetto.
@@positivechic1463 I live in Sanford and the OP isn't wrong. I live in a nicer part but so much of this town is crappy.
Well yeah, -- right after LaBelle and Ocala... 🙄
100% wrong. Downtown Sanford is awesome now.
Hello ole friend. Thumbs up on your video.
Thanks for the great video! Now that the hubs is retired I’m hoping after this Covid gets under control we can take the camper to Florida & visit all over the state. Also my bff lives there so I have selfish reasons for wanting to go. Lol. He can fish while we catch up. It’s a win/win.
You forgot to mention Wekiva Springs Park near Orlando. Google it.
