Here is the Yellow Miniature Screwdriver set that was in the video. It has every mini bit you'll need and the quality is good! amzn.to/2F1R21s
I'm thinking that the depth of field must be very shallow. Correct?
The screws in may cameras are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard). They look like Phillips, but Phillips screwdrivers will damage them, and they will not be kind to miniature Phillips screwdriver heads.
Most of the time these “do things cheaply” videos are either a PITA or not that great of an outcome. This one is fantastic. Easily doable. I’m definitely tying this with one of the 20 old cameras I have.
LOL gently dismantle it with a piece of railway track. Great video Chris.
Caution when opening camera, the flash capacitor may have a charge and will give a nasty jolt. I recommend shorting it out as soon as you see the connectors. You could also use the magnifying feature on the iPhone but it’s digital zoom an can be quite grainy. Great video.
I came across an old junker digital camera in my attic yesterday and immediately remembered this video that you put out. It worked beautifully! Thanks!
That is awesome!
Your cornea/iris shot is clearer, if 50% less magnified than the opthalmic slit lamp we use in the emergency room for foreign body removal from eyes. This would be so useful for sending images to opthalmologist at our referral centre. I want to say thanks for sharing your creativity and insight on all this amazing inventions!
Wow! That's great! I never thought of it for the use you are describing!
I love this sort of project and creative mentality. Recycling, re-purposing, jerry-rigging, all of that. You got some great results from that project for only a couple bucks. So good. :)
Very cool!
Hey Jesus!
Thank you jesus, VERY COOL!
Hey jesus
I love your humor ( translation for Canada: humour) and the "keyboard" in the intro and your videos. (Even if you drill holes in all the glass in your home) Just discovered you...just subscribed. Thanks!
I tried this and it is excellent. I was not expecting this. It zooms 1 to 1 almost like super macro lenses. My mi note 10 pro now has a super macro ability. Thank you so much.
That's great!!
Was about to purchase one when I came across your video and realized I have a non-working camera. After a few minutes I have my macro lens and it works great. Thank you so very much.
Great idea! Reclaiming quality parts from old stuff gets an instant 👍 Thank you
Thats a cool idea, especially for us , older folks 😀
Too funny with the Anvil. Way to make it light and interesting
OMG! It’s one of those “WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT”? moments!!! What a GENIUS idea! I was just shopping for lenses and keep flashing back on a “cheap” set of three I had a while back - they did NOTHING! I was pondering on how in the world do you know what you’re paying for!! Along comes Chris with the answer! If it’s already in a camera... it’s gotta work! There’s certainly a supply of dead or dying cameras available. Woohoo I’m all excited now! Great video! More videos!!!
Thanks Chris!
Lauri
YThanks for that! Yes, there should be tons of these out there to experiment with. Good luck.

Also, a good way to get old stuff is by going to hospitals and seeing if the company owns anything that they don't use anymore and need to get rid of! That's how I got my camera for this trick!

Wow, Chris! I just "discovered" your channel tonight. I remember seeing your harmless mouse trap video YEARS ago. Well I have a mouse in my room and decided to look it up. Now I'm watching all your videos! I love all the informative videos and tutorials. Please keep it up so I have new things to watch at 2am :) thank you for everything!!
Awesome! Thank you!
What a fascinating idea. Thank you for the sharing! Enjoy your video as always :-)
Thats realy cool
What a great project, thank you for sharing! Maybe you could even make it better by somehow using a magnet to quickly attach the macro lens? You could also think of some system that would "guide" the macrolens, so that one would not even have to align it each time with the phone's lens. Keep up the great work!
Some more great ideas … thanks! ♥️♥️🇦🇺
It seems most of my favorite RUclipsrs are from the North, literally.
Before we had cameras, it would have been impossible to see yourself blink.
You can use a mirror. Some of them even magnify. My wife uses one to apply eye makeup.
@@markkinsler4333 - No, you’ll be blinking, therefore you’d still miss yourself actually blinking.
@@JosephQPublic nope. just you cyclops.
Great stuff keep it up
