Here is the Yellow Miniature Screwdriver set that was in the video. It has every mini bit you'll need and the quality is good! amzn.to/2F1R21s

The screws in may cameras are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard). They look like Phillips, but Phillips screwdrivers will damage them, and they will not be kind to miniature Phillips screwdriver heads.

Most of the time these “do things cheaply” videos are either a PITA or not that great of an outcome. This one is fantastic. Easily doable. I’m definitely tying this with one of the 20 old cameras I have.

Caution when opening camera, the flash capacitor may have a charge and will give a nasty jolt. I recommend shorting it out as soon as you see the connectors. You could also use the magnifying feature on the iPhone but it’s digital zoom an can be quite grainy. Great video.

Your cornea/iris shot is clearer, if 50% less magnified than the opthalmic slit lamp we use in the emergency room for foreign body removal from eyes. This would be so useful for sending images to opthalmologist at our referral centre. I want to say thanks for sharing your creativity and insight on all this amazing inventions!

OMG! It’s one of those “WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT”? moments!!! What a GENIUS idea! I was just shopping for lenses and keep flashing back on a “cheap” set of three I had a while back - they did NOTHING! I was pondering on how in the world do you know what you’re paying for!! Along comes Chris with the answer! If it’s already in a camera... it’s gotta work! There’s certainly a supply of dead or dying cameras available. Woohoo I’m all excited now! Great video! More videos!!!
    Thanks Chris!

What a great project, thank you for sharing! Maybe you could even make it better by somehow using a magnet to quickly attach the macro lens? You could also think of some system that would "guide" the macrolens, so that one would not even have to align it each time with the phone's lens. Keep up the great work!
