- Is there any point in purchasing an external macro lens in 2021, when phones like the Xiaomi Mi 11 & Redmi Note 10 Pro (Max) come with their very own Built-In Tele-Macro lenses?
I've been using the built-in macro lens on the Xiaomi Mi 11 & Redmi Note 10 Pro (Max) for about 2 months now and I've been obsessed! But before that, all I used was external macro lenses with all the phones I've tried. They're definitely my favorite accessory to use with smartphones.
NOTE: All iPhone shots you see are taken using the external macro lens

Thank god I got my hands on the Redmi Note 10 Pro in February this year, the macro camera is amazing and more better than the 2MP macro cam that was used in other OEMs

I got a Skyvik Signi 20x lens and I think it's a lot better than most of the inbuilt macro lenses. I have compared on Redmi Note 10 pro as well. The depth is amazing on the external lens but you gotta have extremely still hands while using an external lens because it shakes a hell lot.
I would love to try that lens. 🤔

@@alchemist4330 And about "extremely still hands", pretty sure you gotta use a tripod or one of those gimbal sticks from DJI to make it really steady

Have you done any more tests with Xiaomi in-built macro lens + external lens? At what minimal/maximal distance can you hold the lens from an object in this setup? It looks like an interesting idea... One can find around, for instance, really tiny bugs... How does this variant compare to simply putting the external lens on the main Xiaomi's lens?
