Im amazed by the fact that you rendered so far on the other 2 works! I couldn't choose from the 3 at the start because it all looks so good. But once you started working out the final piece, i thought it was mind-blowing. You are truly such an incredible artist.
Probably the most difficult part of drawing anything, for me, is the very first part; simply creating the background, a dimension for the character to be in. That huge white canvas can be so damn intimidating.
really small thumbnails first, helps me. Helps to focus on the main things and instead you have a small irritating white canvas instead of a big intimidating one!
It's different for me actually. I focused on the small thumbnail before and drew my characters first since the characters were the main thing that I need people to focus on, right? It turned out that the character was so outstanding and I didn't know what to do with the background (I had to fix my characters to fit the background though I didn't want to as I'd spent hours and really liked it >.

That's crazy! You have to draw a bunch of works until one of them gets approved by the company. I'm an aspiring digital artist and this helped me get a rough idea of my future. Sure looks tough but it also must be fun drawing all day

in photoshop, if you take any selection tool, at the top of the screen there should be a select and mask button, which you can use to select more accurately. you can customise things like color, opacity and more.

im doing a piece for a contest and I was missing heavily on the background and boi ohh boi this came just in the right time...omg thank you so much for the inspiration. Backgrounds are my biggest block and tho in splash art they have relatively less detail than the central piece is still hard for me.

Your ability to render materials is impressive, but I think this goes too far in the details, personnally. You gain definition, but you lose some artistic feeling. Also the line drawing from which you start is not as solid as your painting, this would deserve a more sophisticated posing

take time on iterations of simple compositions before you go through with it
Use ref if you struggle with it, a lot of professional even use 3d model to help them
