Merlin was like the drug back then. Be it buster dps or outright stalling with Jeanne and Tamamo. More so when we had the double merlin just to spam his np every 2-3 turns. Glad to see him having more action time now after being overshadowed by newer supports. Pour one out for our poor boy Waver-kun though. His only upgrade was the np buff from his interlude.
Double Merlin was always back for those who believed. (I've used Barghest / Merlin / Merlin for a long time for just how much soft sustain that team comp has, and sometimes I switch it up with the budget standard Mash / Merlin for when I want to see enemies constantly do 0 damage lol).
Hopefully they remember Nero bride and give her an arts up and one cool down to make her unique to tamamo castoria and the Merlins for the extra remake. That'd be awesome and she already has np gain and 30 charge so she can be a great boss slayer. Support and mix unit Merlin was always a good unit. It's funny how people mix speed comps for farm 3 turns when boss fights that scare players take longer than 3 turns
You’re not gonna replace Castoria with post buff Merlin without gimping yourself. A more appropriate comparison is post buff Merlin vs Proto Merlin which before the latter had the edge due to the fact that she had extra utility that OG Merlin didn’t have. Now there is more reason to stick with original Merlin since he has 30% team charge and better crits which better balances Proto Merlin’s faster NP ramping + better survivability
With merlin now coming back from retirement We need a buff for waver to overwork him too 😢 maybe all colours buff (I mean not like everyone had merlin anywhere)

That way he can support his king better and acts as a substitute for Oberon with less dmg buffing ability. Especially now that Iskandar has a 30% battery, I would love to substitute Waver for Oberon
In the time before break bars. In fact, you could argue that the whole reason break bars were even introduced was because double merlin with their double buster buffs rendered a lot of content trivial, as bosses would only rely on having a large singular HP pool.
Personally i think as a Damage booster support, castoria is focus more on the NP side since she can make the DPS loop their NP easily, meanwhile for merlin he is more focused on the crit side with both his NP and 2nd can generate star easily while providing crit damage booster. Tho i was hoping that they give the buff to his 3rd skill instead and change the crit up on 3rd skill to 3 turn, it will be more busted.
It's sadly not that great because you're overcapping on crit by a lot on burst turns, it's better on off turns because of the 50-100% crit, but the damage cap doesn't change at all

The 30 team battery makes him a substitute for Oberon if you don’t have access for farming. And obviously his challenge quest value went up.

An interesting thing about this buff is that double merlin teams now will always have an illusion ready against 3 bar np enemies
