I did personnel recruiting for 5 years and I can tell you from experience that most everyone feels that they got good signs that everything went well during their job interview.
I would never place any confidence in a job interview because so many things come into play.
It's a numbers game and a person has to go on a dozen job interviews to even get hired.

Dude! Thank you for uploading this video today! It means so much to me because I just had 2 interviews yesterday! They were both for an IT position at two different schools. One is where I graduated from high school and the second is at another school that I am unfamiliar with. First interview at the school I graduated from was meant for an 1 hour and a 1/2 half. It was a three part process, the first phase was a two page basic technical assessment questions, pretty straight forward. The second phase was to figure out why the computer won't turn on and it turns out that it was a hard drive failure so, I replaced the hard drive and it then boot to windows log on screen. It was kind of odd taking apart and putting it together because it was an older system I have never worked on before but knew what the components were. Then finally, in the third and last phase of the interview was with 4 different people, an IT Technician, Technology Supervisor, the Interviewer Manager and another Q&A person so there was four people interviewing me and I felt really comfortable answering questions for them by answering my career stories, career accomplishments and future plans. Then I extended the interview longer by asking them questions and having some chit chat and it turned out to be a really fun and enjoyable interview. I love it when interviews turns into a regular conversation which makes me even more confident.
Lastly the second interview was at a school I was unfamiliar with, and it was a 30 minute interview with the hiring manager and an technology manager. They asked simple questions if I have experience working with this and that and if I could do this and that. I asked questions and answered some technical questions. So it was pretty short and straight forward interview and they seemed to be impressed.
Overall I am feeling more and more confident if I just keep interviewing for similar positions/role for many different companies that I applied to.

Hey Darnell shout out to you my man. I interviewed today for a position with my county, they asked the 5 year question you were right lol. They did ask my availability about mid interview, so I thought things went well. Also in back of my mind I thought of what you said and thought "dang maybe I am nailing this thing." I got home at 10 am and by 430 HR department was calling me. Woohoo. So what can I expect when speaking to HR? I did read a salary range on the initial job post before applying. I believe HR is the final word when it comes to county hiring. Salary was never mentioned today. Thanks Darnell your videos really helped me. Im gonna send more people to your channel. Mr Clarke,
I just wanted to thank you for these videos. After 17 years at one company, I was left scrambling when the owner abruptly decided to sell and enforced a pay cut in the interim. Not having interviewed in close to 2 decades, I really needed some guidance. Thankfully I found your videos. They helped me tremendously, especially learning how to craft my value add proposition. After a few months of interviews I could tell I was getting better each time out using your tips. A couple weeks ago, I received an offer from a department within the State of California. The salary offer was almost twice what I was making at my old job. I'm glad I won't be needing your services any longer but I've let others looking for employment know about your RUclips channel. Thank you again and take care.

I agree with everything mentioned with the exception of one thing. If the interviewer asked the question, " Do you have any other job offers?" I would always recommend saying no even if you do have other job offers. The reason being, most companies ask this because they do not want to get into a bidding war for your services with another company. So, by telling the interviewer yes if they ask this question, it could potentially eliminate you from the hiring process. Definitely something to think about for sure.

My interview was supposed to be 30 minutes long with the manager. It went a little longer than expected, HOWEVER, I'm not sure if that was because I asked about 10 questions. She asked if I had any questions about 20-25 min into the interview. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. The previous round of interviews for this job, the gentleman asked me all those other questions. The manager didn't ask me them.

I've had these indicators and still did not get the job, and got ghosted by the hiring people. Such signs are a moot point.

I just received a telephone interview this afternoon, she asked about salary expectation, I said very lower than they are going to offer, so I think I lost this opportunity

Thank you Darnell, l watched your videos before my interviews. Boy o boy, three interviews for one post.Your interview techniques were unique and reassuring. My confidence level increased and so was my anxiety before the interviews. My responses were straight to the point and l got the job. May God continue to enrich your talents and a blessing to all candidates/employees.

    Hi Darnell,
At the end of my interview, the hiring manager told me that he would get back to me by next Tuesday, he told me that if he wouldn't get back to me by next Wednesday , I should "bug" him about it, I don't really know what that means, what do you think?

I remember my first aced job interview two years back with the Science Center. After practicing all night with my mother, I came in to the main dining area with a smile, had a very relaxed and courteous interviewer (Sarah) and she gave me pretty simple, general questions like the ice-breaking "tell me about yourself" "let's go over your previous work history and "how would you handle a disagreement or difficulty with a fellow employee" (which she really liked my answer to because I said I would try to come to an understanding and empathize).
Things seemed to breeze by (interview seemed to take maybe 10 or 15 minutes, maybe even less), and after that she gave me an immediate orientation date on the spot, making me a general utility worker ever since to the current day.

Had 4 out of the 5. They said at the 2nd interview on a Thursday that they would make a decision by Friday, the next day. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard anything. I was told told that I interviewed great. 2 weeks prior, during an interview I was told I interviewed great. Guess what? I didn't get the.job. From now on I'm going to take that phrase as the kiss of death and move on.

I’m having a hard time landing a job. I’m 48 years old and having issues convincing someone to hire me. I’d like a sit down job doing what I did as a CRM or administrative but no one is hiring because of COVID19. I’ve put in 29 applications in a month and had 3 interviews.

honestly i agree these are all really strong signs but most interviewees with a certain amount of knowledege would be able to understand that on the spot too. just saying but thank u still for the tips

Recently I'm appeared in an interview for Corteva and Corteva is world's largest Agri organisation of USA. After series of interviews in my last and final interview an HR manager asked me about my availability like he asked 'when can you join us? ' and then he also asked what is your current salary and other benefits in your current company.
Dear sir what should I expect?

  • @neetrab
    @neetrab 4 года назад +4

"They ask how soon are you available?" -- please tell me this is the same thing as "are you working right now??" Lol

    • @russmode

I don't think so, that question on most general apps, they either want to know if what you are doing now relates to what they want you to do, or maybe even with today's world, if you are unemployed or working, or what your current availability might be if part time position.
