Been using a 49" Odyssey Oled for 2 years now. Coming from a multi-monitor setup, it was a change to get used to in the beginning. But now editing in a super wide timeline.. i actually do prefer it. But my plan was to stack a second one on top as preview monitor at some point..
@@TechTesseract I actually had a 34" stacked on top for a while. But for me the different ratios/resolutions distracted me. Really wanna try to get a second 49" eventually! And have a merry XMAS guys!
As a 49” S-UW user (Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo) for past 4 years, I agree whole heartedly that they are fantastic for games, but for productivity, the dots per inch density is not good & needs a LOT of tweaking both in the hw settings & software/driver settings to minimise fuzzy edges on text. TBH I also have a 28” 2160p 60Hz panel that I tend to do any text based productivity stuff on still because of how badly the 49” S-UW is for it. There are a lot of games that don’t run in 32:9 ratios (mostly isometric ARPG’s like Diablo 4, Path of Exile, etc) which is a pain if they are your usual genre, but when I bought it, I could not see it before hand and went on YT reviews mostly (something that I will never do again on a £1600 monitor!). Couldn’t send it back either as being disabled, I had no way of getting back to courier depot locally as they refused to collect from house due to size & me not being able to get it to the door for them (as they are not allowed/insured to enter residential properties apparently). I had been contemplating getting the 57” version (dual 4K OLED) but want to see it in the ‘flesh’ first, but don’t know anybody with one or anywhere that has one on display! In fact, almost everywhere that does have monitors on display only have the cheaper smaller options available to view (which makes it even more of a risk as going to be a special order thru them or take the plunge & risk £2000+ on something that is not what you need). I think my next panel/s will be 16:9 or 16:10 format 4K high refresh OLED with a good pixel density.
Thanks for the feedback! Funnily enough I've found the DPI to be fine for text - although I came from a 34 inch ultrawide so the DPI is the same - i did try nays 45 inch 21:9 ultrawide and didn't like it for everyday use cos it has a pretty bad DPI but always been fine on the 49 inch 32:9, maybe it's the newer OLED panel tech? I agree that you should always see in person before purchase if possible but not always an option :/ I've thought about the 57" for racing sim though
I find with 49" UW, if you are not far enough away you will be looking side to side too much while gaming. I like my 38" UW with another 24" monitor setup vertically next to it, is the best setup for me. Also you NEED WIndows PowerToys FancyZones with an UW.
Yeah i have mine pushed fairly far back most of the time so I can see the whole thing, i'll usually pull it forwards for star citizen though, and other games depending on if they have a moveable UI, waiting for a 38 OLED! haha - I sometimes use fancyzones if I really want to play in 16:9 and have stuff on the sides but most of the time I'm just fullscreen tbh
I've also just been using 2x 34" ultrawide oled for a couple of years now. I think I'll be converting to this whenever there's a good deal over the next year, it looks fantastic
Those are nice monitor specs. However, I'm not too fond of that 34" nor 49" vertical real-estate. I'd prefer 32" or the 45" screens specifically for a more even amount of vertical/horizontal viewing for gaming.
I have the same monitor arm and love it. It was a great buy. I'm using it with a 49" Samsung G9 OLED. I'm using it with a second monitor but have been contemplating getting rid of the second one just for aesthetics. It does look better with just the one.
@@TechTesseract yes if u don't play at competitive fps is a great monitor .....btw monitor arm rgb is really cool i think that i will buy one i love rgb
@@TechTesseract Psshh... that's winter bulk. You at least have the metabolism to gain mass good and bad. The cut isn't gonna be too difficult for you. Still a good build.
This is nice, but since I also play fps games. 34 inch uw qd oled from Alienware is the sweet spot for me. Though I do have to admit cyberpunk looks really nice on that screen.
Thanks for quick reply, I actually just purchased s5iix with kit lens but haven’t unboxed it yet…can’t wait! Keep up the great quality videos, underrated channel (should be at least at million subs) ❤️

@@TechTesseract Did you had any VRR flicker problem with the 34" version? Im thinking in buying that one, but I read on reddit a few complains about serious flicker problems on that version.
Ikr it's confusing haha - a 27-inch 16:9 monitor has a width of about 23.5 inches. Two of them side by side give you about 47 inches, which matches the 49-inch ultrawide's width almost exactly

Give me a 21:9 5120x2160 UW in 2025 over this all day long, no image warping on select games, true cinematic movie/tv show experience with the right apps as well. I'd rather live with a 21:9 UW for daily use however 3440x1440
that's fair, I did use the LG 45 inch 21:9 for a bit, but the resolution was a killer for me for daily use. I personally prefer the extra width too for games despite the occasional warping
@@TechTesseract Yeah 34" is the sweet spot for 3440x1440 , anything bigger and it's murkier waters for anything outside of gaming and video content and the OLED G9 or Neo G9 are much better choices and value for money. Once a 5120x2160 monitor drops I think you'd love 21:9 more for your needs. I felt that same excitement though initially with the 49" so can't hate, just the warping :(
@L4J4 I was seriously considering upgrading my 21:9 38in Alienware IPS at 3840 x 1600 to go for this 49 OLED UW. Do you think this is a worthwile upgrade?
As long as you are aware of the draw backs I mentioned, then 49" UW OLED is incredible, I personally think you're better off waiting for ultrawides to go to 5120x2160 for better resolutions and vertical height for these displays.
depends how far away it is tbh, I've got it on a 30 inch deep desk and totally fine - i usually pull it forwards for star citizen though for ultimate immersion xD
