    Basically only useful at 4K for the games you tested, and then not by huge margins in all of them, about 10FPS.
    Looks like none of them really used more than 12GB, either. I think The Last of Us and Resident Evil 4 are a little more VRAM hungry. But it's not very many games that use more than 8GB VRAM at 1440p, it looks like... And even then a 12GB card can handle most of those. Hmm.
    The base 4060 Ti should be less than $400, IMO, and the 16GB variant should be way way less than $500. But eh. Not a great time to buy a new card in general right now. If you don't need NVidia's features specifically, AMD looks like a better price/perf option for new cards. There are also so many used last-gen cards that last-gen NVidia or AMD used are pretty strong deals compared to this stuff... Power draw is higher though.
    That's the only reason I'm still interested in this card is power efficiency + future proofing. Not worth $500 to me when I can get a 2080 used for like $220 on eBay and just get on with my life, lower settings here and there as needed... I'm not gaming at 4K!!! Heck, I don't play the latest AAA generally speaking either. I don't really need that much VRAM, and I certainly won't spend $500 for it. I might get a 3060 for the 12GB VRAM just for some future-proofing though. (~$250 used on eBay). Even though its baseline performance is worse than the 2080 and uses similar amounts of power... Hmmmmmm.
    Gotta compromise somewhere if you're not going to waste $200-300 extra by going with the latest-gen NVidia parts new right now.

      Not even there. The 8gb 4060 ti is enough for 4k, the 16 is for the job. And those people on Twitter who follow the trends.
      My nephew has been playing in 4k since the 4060ti came out and he has no substantial drops (like 57 frames min).
      How stupid are people (12 gb for games? pfft. AMD's market is the apus, not the pc. No game needs 12 gb, not even 10. There are cards with 6 that continue to work well up to 4k removing shadows).

  • @Corristo89
    @Corristo89 Год назад +24

    Think of it like this: The 4060 Ti 8GB has a somewhat decent engine, but a very small fuel tank. It can never really stretch its legs until it runs out of gas. The 4060 Ti 16GB has a bigger fuel tank, but its only "somewhat decent" engine just can't overcome those limitations. You can hit your top speed a bit longer, but the top speed ultimately isn't much higher. The issue with the 4060 Ti was never really the VRAM, but the underpowered GPU which relies on AI trickery.
    As a 1080p card it offers good performance, but it's priced too high. As a 1440p card it's still priced to high and starts to struggle here or there. And as a 4K card it only works when the settings are lowered, RT is off and DLSS3 can make up the difference.

    The graphics card MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti VENTUS 3X BLACK 16GB is part of NVIDIA's graphics card series and comes with 16 gigabytes of video memory (VRAM). This RTX-class graphics card supports advanced technologies like Ray Tracing and Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), making it suitable for high-quality gaming and virtual reality applications.
    It is natural for this card to be powerful in running modern games at high settings and resolutions. However, the performance also depends on the other components of your computer, such as the Central Processing Unit (CPU), memory, and power supply unit. It's always advisable to check your computer's specifications to ensure compatibility with this graphics card.
    In general, this graphics card can be suitable for modern video games and provide strong performance, but you should consider your system's requirements to ensure optimal performance.

    I think the value proposition of the card will look stronger as we get into 2024; already at the end of the 2023, several games have come out that are asking for mroe vram and developers en masse have stated they are also tired of having to implement optimizations for 8GB and lower cards. Not saying it's right, but we aren't making the games are we? Couple that with console games being the primary target as devs can utilize the 16GB of unified memory to amazing efforts, we'll need a card that can scale up like that. It's great that many games can still stay below the 8GB threshold, but that's slowly disappearing as the graphics direction of these studios is getting more demanding.
    The card has gotten a lot of hate, but it's a pretty good card that seeks to utilize it's memory paths as a way to compensate for the smaller bus width, while delivering the latest tech to take advantage of all the eye candy. It's value proposition is what those who have really taken a look at the card don't like... for now.
    I don't see cards getting any cheaper with the unrest around the globe politically, affecting supply chains and production. That, with the space sharing interests from machine learning and AI technologies, I think in the end the 4060, especially the 16GB Ti, will find a nice landing spot.
    Plus if you're someone who does any sort of editing, production and gaming on the same setup, you always want the more vram when you can get it. Then there's the fact that NVIDIA products as of late just work, it's hard to move onto another platform, if for nothing else than the cheaper entry for similar or stronger rasterization performance.
    All that said, I like the card. I think others will also coming from some of the 10 series and 16 series NVIDIA cards.

    I think this benchmark very aptly shows where the +8GB matters. It matters in 4K at higher graphics settings + RT. And I think this is only the beginning, as fewer and fewer game devs will devote resources to optimize for 8GB cards. The 16GB 4060 Ti will really start shining in a year or two IMO.

    • @rio-dq9sc
      @rio-dq9sc 11 месяцев назад +1

      You don't need +8gb for 4k, are just lazy devs. I played in 4k with my ram limited to 6gb before, in 144 hz. The chip is the main factor. And i try used my 4090 with just 4 gb and dlss 3 in mid/high settings(the most common). Its work(maybe could be better. But hey! just 4 gb)
      And in 2 years the 50 series is on the market. Let's be honest, the only reason some games are so poorly optimized is if the force "boosts the stock market price".
      Really from what I've seen in the industry we shouldn't even be using "traditional raster" anymore. rtx is much more efficient and fluid well implemented.
      But for the interests of the developers (and not even them, if not their bosses. Even in indie games. Any expense is exaggerated against the benefits) so they look for fast and cheap sponsorship: "China and AMD".
      more than 40% of the expenses are just for marketing.

    • @lecarrotman
      @lecarrotman 11 месяцев назад

      @@rio-dq9sc I approach this issue assuming that devs are trying their best. And I think so because otherwise they are fired for not doing their job well enough. So I think the devs aren't lazy, but they have release deadlines that they have to stick to. If the job is done, meaning that the game is ready, they won't be able to devote more resources to optimizing the game and trying to make it more budget-friendly when the next game is already in the pipeline and they have to start working on it. Ofc patches are then released which I guess don't require as many resources to develop, and then, after 6 months or however long, you have a game that is a little more optimized but is still far away from being budget-friendly.
      And I also think that it's part of the natural progression of the industry that running new software requires more and more computing power and memory over time.

    • @lecarrotman
      @lecarrotman 11 месяцев назад

      @@rio-dq9sc OK, I will grant you that point. I can totally imagine that devs are not capable enough to optimize their games well. If everyone is bad at certain things at the same time, they'll still be able to keep their jobs because there's no one else to do it better than them.
      So what can you do as a gamer? On the one hand, you have devs who for whatever reason don't optimize games enough, and on the other hand, you have Nvidia with not enough VRAM on their chips to run the under-optimized games. Well, one solution is to buy AMD, but then you sacrifice hardware accelerated RT.
