    Now that is a person to be regarded, to be inspired by and to listen to.
    A perfect antidote to many of modern societies awful "role models", those vapid Kardashians as an example.

    HI, I a new subscriber from seeing you on gcn. Think you hit the spot for what I'm aiming at aswell. I've been backpacking last two years and cycling have always been my second nature, so to speak and why not combining those two interests of my mine. Before i've so you I really didn't know what and how/where to start. I didn't know what's best to start with, with a bike "trolly" or bike bags as you do. I really do love hammocking and was planing to start small. We have a lot of trees here in Sweden so that would be ideal starting point for me and maybe later on will be have to go on the ground and converting to a tent. I so you hade a tent on gcn channel but wasn't abel to ready the brand that your are using. I'm sure you have it listed out somewhere, but if not abel to find it on my own, i really would appreciate if you could link it, when and if you have time. Really lf to see more from you and your adventures, best regards from Sweden. 👍

    Loved this video. Question: How does Sean Conway earn money / pay for things?

    • @kevinmerrey4492
      @kevinmerrey4492 7 лет назад

      Hi Brian. He earns his living through sponsorship from brands, public talks and TV appearances. I know him fairly well and he works very hard at keeping up a profile that appeals to sponsors. He also works hard at keeping fit enough to do his challenges.

    What a load of propaganda. Real adventures are not carried out in spandex or on expensive bikes. What this video shows is akin to a bungy jump.. ohhh ahhh ! Child like... Real adventures are unplanned and dangerous... you rarely know where you will sleep of if you will have enough money to buy food.... I once met a guy who had planned his adventure in the most minute way that he knew every metre of road and river... with food drops and emergency procedures up the yin yang... For all of you... just get out the door go with no destination or planned route... take as little as possible... let life happen... and most important of all, never- ever take a girl... or even a friend... anchors all. From Ivan J. Fitness Southland New Zealand.

  • @PRH123
    @PRH123 7 лет назад +2

    Very cool... but obviously the guy has money (inheritance?) to do these things, you don't ride on top end Trek carbon fiber racing bikes while not working otherwise... so to map his advice on existence to the other 99.9% of the worlds population is a bit difficult...

    • @chrismayers616
      @chrismayers616  7 лет назад +9

      P Harger Hi, appreciate the comment however having got to know Sean pretty well I can assure you he hasn't built his lifestyle around an inheritance or a background of wealth. The reason he rides the Giant bike in the film is because he was given it by Giant as part of sponsorship. Much of the expensive equipment he uses is all through sponsorship that big companies have given him due to Sean fitting the profile of the type of person they are aiming their brand at. He certainly didn't start off riding bikes like that! There are many adventurers out there who have given up the day job and built a career based on their lifestyle choice (Alistair Humphries, Dave Cornthwaite, Etc)

      Aha, thanks, I apologize for my assumption, never a good idea to jump to conclusions, as I seem to have jusr proven again... thank you for explaining and I again apologize... maybe I let some envy creep into my judgement... :)

    • @FringeWizard2

      I got a couple bikes including a carbon fibre one but I just stick to the one I got as a teen long ago. If you're really fucking poor like me, like eating out of dumpsters poor (and getting sick all the time, don't do that) you can get everything including your bike and backpack and so on free. I also have injuries, health problems, neglect, depression, and abuse but nothing stops me. BTW you're able to have an internet connection, some electronic device to connect you, and to take time to watch youtube videos... plus maybe you have a car or house or something? Well if you can afford that then you can afford a bike and to feed yourself. Just get rid of the other stuff.
