- New research shows that a third of Britons are falling behind world education standards in subjects such as Maths, English, History and Geography.
The UK Government claims to be investing more in these subjects leading up to the 2022 election, but critics say it may be "too little, too late."

Love the videos you guys make! Unfortunately as someone who went through the British education system I have very poor budgeting and financial planning skills and life skills in general so am nearly always broke. When this changes, which is looking ever less likely by the day, I'll be sure to show my appreciation. Keep up the great work!
(Also had an idea for a sketch you're welcome to consider/use. Tory primary school teachers, teaching toddlers how not to share etc.)
Brilliant!
Who would've thought that defunding the education system through 20 years would've had an impact, innit?
started with thatcher. not blair. labour put a lot more money into schooling that the tories do. because tories love thick people, their core voters.
Yea, standads have rilly droped.
Shows how standards have fallen in the teaching of history.
As a Sydneysider, I’m appalled they don’t know we’re the capital of Australia.
australia doesn't have a capital.
Isn't it 'A' anymore?
My god I thought everyone knows it's Vienna !
euhm ... what or who is Australia? Is it edible?
I thought it was Dapto.
It's a sad state of affairs when a news presenter can't tell us what a lovely story we've just heard, standards are dropping!
Iz that wot 'e woz tri'in 2 said?
The government's response to the report was "like wateva innit know what I mean"
Excellent as always from Larry and Paul 😂
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching - please share the link!x
Oh jeez. With only the quarter in the top 3%! Ffs I’m trying to eat my lunch!
Sidney’s the capital of Austria, I knew that
I told my son's teacher 40 years ago that standards had fallen. Teachers are now thicker than the pupils.
Can’t have that. I have teachers in my family and they are by no means thick. They are however handcuffed to teach a curriculum that is put together by academics, who have never stood in front of a class of feral middle class kids.
I shouldn't have generalised. I apologise, I know teachers who are highly intelligent and very good at their job. As you say, teaching a curriculum put together by others who have never set foot in a classroom is difficult. A lot of what they have to teach is more political than academic. @@bridiesmith5110
and who was in power 40 years ago? tories.
@@bridiesmith5110 The use of the word feral is highly questionable and not appropriate. There are serious problems in UK schools, including in middle class areas. The issue is no longer confined to the inner cities as it once was- worsening behaviour and lack of parental support has fanned out in the last fifteen years. An OFSTED report in 2014 said that in some schools ( so called) low level disruption is causing up to a day of learning per week to be lost. It will be worse now.
The calibre of teachers has definitely deteriorated in the last fifteen years. Many are obtaining places on training courses who would not make it over a decade ago, and it is clear that the general level of intelligence and competence has declined. There are undoubtedly exceptions, whereby some trainee teachers are highly competent and obviously have a lot to offer education. One third of all newly qualified teachers do not teach beyond three years and one quarter have left within five years. A recent article in The Guardian highlighted the issue of head teachers having to appoint staff who are not up to standard simply to ensure classes are covered. Standards have fallen- a string of GCSE grades 8 or 9 is probably the equivalent of the old 'O' Level grade B, broadly speaking. Grade inflation has definitely happened.
@@kanedNunable but councils were in charge of education. If you lived I labour area you tried to get your kids into school in neighbouring Tory areas.
When I was a little children I wus taut proper England.
😂
Yet GB News still gets viewers and the Daily Mail online still reports on people having ample assets and flaunting their curves or some such stuff.
Exactly.
I got a curve, I am so lucky. I can draw squiggly lines on paper, I am an expert at squiggly lines now.
Because only thick, ignorant people vote for the Tories. Thatcher was playing the long game by making future generations dumber, thereby making more Tory voters.
@@Demun1649 Congratulations, you've just qualified as a geometry teacher.
@@zacmumblethunder7466 I don't know that I'd be any good. I was an English teacher, and history. Geometry is similar to mental arithmetic, it makes my brain explode.

Good to see Britain leading the way.
Other countries can only gawp in astonishment as we leave them in our wake! Unfortunately we're going the wrong way :)
We are not 27th. YET. Trumpanzee land is there already, and producing very well-trained pre-humans, who can eat nothing but cheeseburgers, poop their pants, and has syphilis to boot.
At least you are keeping up with the USA.
No…..Britain is far worse!
Hardly surprising when considering that the House of Commons Hooligan used to be a teacher.
He taught PE and "humanities". From what I can gather off various websites, "Humanities" appears to be a "Jack of all trades, master of none" job.
I will broach the subject the next time I see my neighbour who is a headteacher and fervent Tory hater. So between sticking up for her profession and sticking it to the gobshite, I may get a clearer picture.
As for him teaching PE. I'm not bluddy surprised, they're all brain dead thugs.
The adver that appeared following your lovely story report was for memory loss/brain rot just as I was about to report on how my normalised scrambling for the correct words was akin to your reporting style. Absolutely brilliant sketch 😂😂😂. Made my day.👏👏
Absolutely brilliant. Hillarious and so true!!👍

I was a teacher in England for 3 years after doing Teach first (mainly as a mad challenge) but did well. Compared to the Republic of Ireland and France, the teenagers in England knew very little of their own history or the main themes of history. It explains alot as history and politics are completely interwined. I remember a parent challenging me when I showed how the Daily express was not a reliable source for a presentation assignment, it was a total conjecture piece of lies.
It was on the tip of her tongue to tell me to go back to Ireland. I eventually did go back where children are generallly brighter as the state teaches History better and there is less of a pervasive tabloid culture.
German here: I feel this so hard. I once didban animal care course with an A-level student and she complained that she had 5 lessons plus 2 hrs homework each day. I had 6 lessons and 2hrs homework from the age if 10. Steadily increasing, especially the amount of homework we did. We also sat more exams and had much more to study on a daily basis. People in England are astonished that I have basic lifeskills that we were taught in year 3 primary school. 🤷🏾♀️
Teacher here, can't stop laughing !

Apparently since antiquity at least, as I believe (Aristotle?) was already saying it.
And yet, somehow, we are much more learned than ever before.
Canberra is the capital of Australia, not Sydney.
Is is not. Its Sidney is the catipal of Austria
Why is that place Canberra so important? All the oligarchs who sponsor the politicians live in Sydney. The UK education curriculum has got it right, in a truly meaningful sense! 😊

That's the problem with schools these days. We need another 7 year root-and-branch review of education to tell us how terrible everything is. Of course we don't have money for paying teachers or building schools to reduce classroom sizes or modernise facilities, do you have even the most basic idea of the cost of a 7 year root-and-branch review of education? These things aren't cheap. We need to get back to basics. Back in my day we were taught the three R's. Reading, Writing and Spelling.
I fink dis is fun-e !🤣
Why can't they talk inglish proper now? When we wos young, we would of got told of.
