    I met these guys in the mid 70's when`Touch Too Much' was released. A friend of my folks Henry had a flat next to theirs. They were realy cool as I was about 14 and just learning guitar. They definitely deserved more credit, a great song and I never realised they did original of ` I Love Rock And Roll'.

      @@arrowmax60r13 There's plenty of great Alan Merrill solo music out there. Being in the charts just means the music industry backed you. Nothing to do with how good an artist is. All of Alan Merrill's songs are hits for me. I don't care about charts.

    Just thinking Im so glad the super talented Arrows did get Touch Too Much as their debut single ,as it was their biggest hit as things did not go too well later.Glad Mickie Most did give them this super catchy song and did do right by them ,if only for his own selfish reason.Its like it was written for my fave group.It got them noticed for sure and though they were not massive ,with all the other overhyped twits, this and the TV show gave them some well deserved fame.I know I was there and love /loved these gorgeous guys. Got my attention alright and I was hooked.

      +Arrowmax60 r It's my opinion that Mickie Most only recorded Touch Too Much with the Arrows to prove to David Cassidy that the song was hit material after David passed on it. Mr. Most didn't expect the Arrows to take off with the public and become so popular so fast. He was lumbered with a band then that had already served his purposes. He proved it was a hit song.

    • @kristinakrutz3886
      @kristinakrutz3886 7 лет назад +1

      True, but he wasn't a founding member and he joined at a point in time (1976) when the band weren't releasing and recordings any more due to a row between their management and record label. So though Mr. Taylor was in the band just prior to their breaking up he was not a part of the band's zenith in 1974 and 1975.

      While Alan is the last living member and front man of the original lineup that had the hit singles(1974-'75), it's true that the band's late joiner (1976) Terry Taylor is also still living and performing with Bill Wyman's Ryhythm Kings.

      +Arrowmax60 r
      The band were actually writing better songs than this though. But the label wouldn't let the band record their own material, which was too often how it was in the UK pop scene in the early 70s. I mean, consider the Arrows presented the label with "I Love Rock N Roll" and they didn't hear it as a hit song. It's ridiculous actually.

  • @KeithTheKing
    @KeithTheKing  12 лет назад +2

    This video promotional clip was made due to the Arrows heavy touring schedule in 1974 when this single took off. Although the Arrows did an in studio Top Of The Pops on their first appearance, once the record went top 10 a few weeks later the band were off on tour, so their producer Mickie Most of RAK records had this promotional film made for airing on Top Of The Pops and other shows in the UK and Europe since the band were on the road.

    @steve613able The Arrows broke up in 1977. Drummer Paul Varley sadly passed away in the summer of 2008. Jake Hooker is an entrepreneur of all sorts, and hasn't played music professionally since the Arrows. Singer Alan Merrill's career is an open book on a Google search, he's still performing and recording with great frequency. Late joiner Arrows guitarist Terry Taylor is now musical director with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings.

    @LittleJohnJack The Arrows had male music critics who hated them because girl fans fancied them. So they got some very nasty reviews back in the mid 70s from a lot of British critics. The Arrows, on the surface seemed to have a good thing going, but the business side of the band - management and label - was an ugly mess. With the perpective of time and youtube clips people are starting to see that they were a very good and versatile band.
