Suzi Quatro had huge hits like 48 Crash and Can the Can in countries like Australia and England but the Americans kind of ignored this glam-rock style of music. I think Americans were more into the laid back California sound and rhythm and blues in the early to mid 1970's and found Suzi a bit challenging whereas other countries absolutely loved her. It's a pity that Americans missed out on her talent.
As an American I can verify we never heard of her before the internet, but rythem and blues?? No, not quite, pink Floyd, rolling stones, kiss, led zeppelin, Beatles, Kansas, police, Styx, Doobie brothers, CCR, Steve Miller, Elton John, Ozzy, you know, real rock and roll.
She came over Germany like a storm on still land.I was in Army in Münster in 1973 and Suzi had a concert in "Halle Münsterland" She was louder then a jet. And she was the Star of our Generation. But she can make quietly music too ! like Stumblin In( with Chris Norman ) , She`s in love with you, or The Wild One. It was a good time !
Pena termos perdido Janis Joplin p/ as drogas. Jimi Hendrix idem.
At that time she was asked by the German Teenager magazine BRAVO, why she was playing bass guitar. Her answer was that the sound and the vibrations were going just where she needed them. Right Between her legs. That nearly blew my head off. I was 9 years old and to me she seemed the hottest woman since Emma Peel and Barbara Eden (genie). :)
This is the first song I heard back in the 70s. It was recorded on an x-ray of someone's ribs in a rural "recording studio" and beat off my young brains completely))) It was later, on the waves of the Voice of America, Yuri Osmolovsky said that this was Suzi Quatro, or, as we used to say : Quadro)))
Susan Kay “Suzi” Quatro (born June 3, 1950) is an American Rock Singer-Songwriter, Multi-Intrumentalist and Actress. She was the first female Bass Player to become a major Rock Star, breaking a women’s barrier to participate in Rock Music. She was born in Detroit, Michigan in the USA and has performed in Rock music since 1964 and still does. She is A Rock-N-Roll Legend and on the Online Hall of Fame. Her most recent studio album was released in 2011 and she continues to present new radio programs. She has sold over 50 million albums and continues to perform worldwide. “48 Crash” was a 7” inch single, A Side, and from the album: ‘Suzi Quatro,’ released in 1973 on RAK Records with Mike Chapman & Nicky Chinn as producers. “48 Crash” is Suzi Quatro’s third solo single and it did very well in Europe in 1973. The band members that were Suzi Quatro band were: Suzi Quatro (Lead Vocals & Bass Guitar), Len Tuckey(Guitar & Backing Vocals), Alastair McKenzie (Keyboards & Backing Vocals), and Drummer Dave Neal. How much did she rock? Sooo Much!! WooooHooo!! 🤘🏻🎸Heikki, Nice post finding such a rockin’ & retro post! It’s Totally Kick-ass! Everyone Rock Hard With Suzi! 🤘🏻🎸😎-Moderator-😎🎸🤘🏻
I looked up what the number 1 song was the very day I was born here in Australia, and it was this. Stoked!! My apologies if your number 1 birth song happens to be something completely uncool and unbearable.
Suzi Quatro has NEVER received the proper amount of credit for her influence on early punk rock. So many of the bands that get tossed into the "glam" or "glitter" category (from Sweet to T. Rex, from Heavy Metal Kids to Sensational Alex Harvey Band) were hugely influential on the '77 punk explosion as well the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Suzi Quatro ruled and was one badass chick with an infectious and wicked voice whose place in rock history is sadly overlooked....
You left somebody very important out. Iggy Pop. Iggy and Suzi the to quintessential influences on punk rock no doubt. Both from Detroit. They would have made a great couple although deep down she's much more of a regular Country Girl.
We saw the original Fleetwood Mac at the Birmingham Palladium with Suzi and her sister. They were two sweet looking teenagers and just learning about rock. Good times a long time ago.
I never noticed till now and I've watched this video about two dozen times, that the mic falls and she just keeps going and uses the next mic and they lower it for her and she doesn't hesitate a second. She was pure rock and roll. My theory is her hotness melted the microphone

We heard of her - she was son Happy Days.
.
debateable but makes sense.
This is a real singer very talented even my son likes to listen to her
Ela é a cara da Cibele, minha falecida prima! Até o corte de cabelo.
GRANDE BANDA DE ROCK SUZI QUATRO E TODA BANDA, ÓTIMOS E BOM TEMPOS.
Hehehe
E, pelo jeito é universal!
Apreciada em todo mundo.
Daqui do Brasil.
Ela era nossa namoradinha!
Hehehe
Pena termos perdido Janis Joplin p/ as drogas.
Jimi Hendrix idem.
Full of energy and attraction !!!! Great job Suzi !!!!!!
Just raw music ! Great ! We used to sing this in music lessons in grade 4 . Wow!
Linda Demais, visual perfeito, vocal maravilhoso.
Mała piękna Suzi z jakże pięknym głosem i przebojem!!!
I felt the same!!! abt Suzie and Genie of course
I dont know how old I was but perhaps 9 also!!!For me Suzie was a revelation as a rock woman star
I always wondered why she slung that bass so low - like she was riding it or something. Now I know.
Anton Chigurh deep purple
That's a big call about Barbara Eden :-) one thing i'll give SQ is her look is timeless.
Thank you for this incredible memory ! So good. 😍
"48
Susan Kay “Suzi” Quatro (born June 3, 1950) is an American Rock Singer-Songwriter, Multi-Intrumentalist and Actress. She was the first female Bass Player to become a major Rock Star, breaking a women’s barrier to participate in Rock Music. She was born in Detroit, Michigan in the USA and has performed in Rock music since 1964 and still does. She is A Rock-N-Roll Legend and on the Online Hall of Fame. Her most recent studio album was released in 2011 and she continues to present new radio programs. How much did she rock? Sooo Much!! WooooHooo!! 🤘🏻🎸Heikki, Nice post finding such a rockin’ & retro post! It’s Totally Kick-ass! Everyone Rock Hard With Suzi! 🤘🏻🎸😎-Moderator-😎🎸🤘🏻
In Germany 48 Crash was her 2nd Single after Can the Can. 3rd - Daytona Demon, 4th - Devil Gate Drive, 5th - Too Big.
So underrated! This band is great!
I looked up what the number 1 song was the very day I was born here in Australia, and it was this. Stoked!! My apologies if your number 1 birth song happens to be something completely uncool and unbearable.
Fez parte da minha infância!!! Show!!! 🤘🏻🎶🎸🎶💕💙🤘🏻
Ich liebe Suzi! One of her best live Performance on German TV!

Kiss too. Gene Simmons loves her!
razorfistforce1 Great rock voice. Raw. Ballsy. Melodic. A super pro.
I had heard her earlier than all the others you mentioned, and I know only T. Rex now. :) She deserves more attention without any doubt.
She was lip synching, it didn't matter.
Still remember how outlandish that suit was at the time. iconic
Suzi Quatro, essa sim é a verdadeira rainha do Rock.
