    Suzi is a SUPERSTAR in Europe and in Australia and Japan and the rest of the Orient but not in her birth country, the USA. She belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a Lifetime Achivement Award, nothing less than that.her first single album came out in 1973, and this year she is still singing and preforming. She has made alot of albums and has done 100s of songs, which most of she wrote herself. A SUPERSTAR in her own right, for over 50 years. Dave in Sierra Vista AZ

      She was/is just too wild for the prudish Americans. I'm Danish, fell in love with Suzi when I was 7-8 yo. Now I'm 58 - still in love with Suzi. Everyone pales in comparison - still.

    Suzy took a big chance in the 70's, a woman leading a rock band dressed in all leather was considered scandalous by most of the industry. Must have been hard to convince a record company to take a chance. She deserved far better than she got, wonderful performer.

    This was the FIRST record i ever bought myself.
    The year was 1974 (Feb), i was 5 years old, i know this sounds too young to buy a record but i was with my older brothers aged 10 and 11. Our house was music mad and from this day on i would spend all my pocket money on records. I bought this 7" vinyl from Woolworths in Chapel Market, Islington, London. The Woolworths branches sadly no longer exist and will be sadly missed all across the UK... Great Tune, Great Memories!!!

    I remember watching Happy Days around 1974 and this little dynamo came on named Suzi Quatro near the end and starting singing Devil Gate Drive. She blew me right out of my socks. I couldn't believe this little lady had such a powerful voice with so much energy. Quatro must have electrified the TV producers at that time. It was magic. Next time to the record store I bought a copy of her record album with Devil Gate Drive on it for sure. Decades later, I still love watching her perform on RUclips. I have since learned that Suzi Quatro was a huge inspiration for a lot of 70s and 80s girl groups. John Jett says Suzi Quatro was a major inspiration for her to get into the music business. Thank you Suzi Quatro, and thank you John Jett, for all that loud, no compromise, kick- ass, Rock and Roll! --- ROCK ON, SEXY LADIES!!!

    Suzi Quatro , the undisputed Queen
    In the opening scene we can see the Biba logo , It looks like the whole recording session was done at the Biba store , the most fantastic artdeco , Gatsby style store in the world , located in London , Before back in the day , 1973 ????? , too many pharmaceutical entertainment chemicals to really remember dates , years . Flash backs anyone ??? . I was at that store , 5 floors dedicated to every thing Artdeco , Gatsby style from , makeup , furniture , bathroom and living room and fabulous era correct clothing , head dressings and coloring books . It looks like the whole recording session was done at the Biba store . Incredible .

      janis joplin before her i think , but she was a pocket rocket; Quatro scored a string of hit singles that found greater success in Europe and Australia than in her homeland.

      I think what NAM was telling us is that she paved the way for female metal artists like Lita Ford and Joan Jett. Joan Jett once specifically referred to Suzi Quatro as one of her major influences. Nobody is taking away from the brilliant Janis Joplin and NAM's original statement did not even attempt to infer that.

    • @jacquiethielen
      @jacquiethielen 5 лет назад +7

      Joplin is whole different thing. She played blues and not a musician. Quatto pathed the way for women in hard rock/glam. She has inspired many women in Rock to this day. It’s just that she was not as much as a commercial success so she is not as well known to some people. And Janis Joplin had Women that influenced her too, like big mama Thornton, Bessie Smith. All doing it long before her.

      Like Slade in America, Suzi deserved a hell of a lot more credit than she ever received. One talks about The Runaways. They both didn't last long enough & only a few of them could actually play their instruments. Sorry Jackie Fox, Suzi actually played bass & lasts to this day. Happy 4th to you....
