David Johnson: I use a Synology NAS at home, another at my mom's house for off-site replication, and I also back up my most crucial data in a Veracrypt encrypted file stored on BackBlaze C2 encrypted data bucket which I only have the keys to and I have 2TB backed up there for $16 USD / month. This is data I can't afford to lose at any cost and they will mail me a drive with the data if I need it back or I can download it at any-time. So with the data in the Encrypted C2 bucket and the file is Veracrypt encrypted it's double encryption.
I used to work with secure information. We had three levels: not secret, which 80+% of the data was, and this was in the clear. Then we had the secret info, which got very encrypted (it was PGP but not the off-the-self version as it was 8 and 16K keys, the n). Then we had the very secret, which we sent in the clear, so it got lost in the normal email, and people would be looking at the encrypted emails.
I need to do something like Henry's setup for backups; that is an AWESOME way to use devices. I worry about theft, so I should automate everything like Henry. Furthermore, I don't know if he has a comprehensive tutorial already, but if not, he should. It would be very useful to be able to replicate an automated encrypted backup with redundancy that allows you to use your devices just as an intermediary and not as a storage unit... Very interesting, and I am right now in "manual mode" with my backups and need to IMPROVE that.
For an offsite backup I have a server running on a Vlan at a trusted relatives house. I then use tailscale to backup to Duplicati. That's the best solution I have found with minimal risks I think.
If anyone knows of something blatantly insecure about this setup let me know because I'm oblivious.

🤣 You most certainly do not understand Public and/or private and the difference between the two and, why the two can NEVER-EVER be comingled. Nevertheless, you will keep trying too. 🤣 IF you only knew and understood the difference, you would then know and understand how to step outside of the PUBLIC to always be private and thereby never-ever be bothered or harassed by the PUBLIC traditions, customs and rituals ever again.
