Apple finally gets the memo that the internet is borderline unusable without adblock, sad it took this long.

Simple rule of the internet. It you're not paying for a service, you are the product. Privacy is an illusion at best.

I've pretty much given up on hardcore privacy these days, I'm just gonna let accelerationism do its thing.

@@brony_in_the_sticks That's true. But I was referring more to free software. But these days, even some of the paid software sells your data.

i'm not sure what to do about PayPal. I haven't found an alternative that works here in Australia. Would love those disposable credit cards the US and Europe have access to! I'm starting to think the best way forward is to change my name every 12 months...

What’s so ironic is I got an add for PayPal before this video

Years of hyping the grand revolution of targeted advertising, and yet I have never seen a targeted ad on the internet that is effective. Meanwhile, millions are wasted on increasingly erratic advertising by collecting data that either does not reflect the user's reality or ends up being compromised.

Is Paypal offering a way to opt out of them using your data? I've been using it for years and use it over giving up my credit card to companies.

The nightmare never stops. It's not enough to gouge merchants and spy on paying customers - have to sell the data, too! I'd rather deal with a card company and the risk of having my card info stolen.

unfortunately, iirc, all the major card companies are either already in the data selling business or were at least looking into "diversifying" into it.

@@CrisCheese_ ummmm what's the reason the though? Didn't you see the Twitter files? Do people think those were fake? Were they? Did I miss something? Twitter was toxic before Musk. Now people can speak more freely with less censorship. It's not full free speech though, but atleast facts don't get censored in mass as much.

CrisCheese_ I don't know. Do you remember how extreme the censorship was before Musk? It's not full free speech now but better. Twitter was so toxic before. The Twitter files exposed that it was an actual fascist company before Musk. Were those files fake?

@@CrisCheese_ the world agrees with me. The opinion of left leaners and low infos doesn't matter anymore. These are the same types of people who were oblivious of Joe's dementia in 2020 and Trump maybe colluded with Russia. These blue anon conpiracy theorists' should be mocked.
