i have 2610 setup with vlan 22 192.168.22.254/24, vlan 7 192.168.40.1/24. I have a sonic firewall plugged into port 25 untagged vlan 22. Firewall ip 192.168.22.1/24. i have a computer plugged into port 11 untagged vlan 7. I have a static route 192.168.40.0/24 192.168.22.1 and i cannot get out to the internet. But if i add a 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.22.1 to switch it works fine. PC has a static ip 192.168.40.22/24 GW 192.168.40.1. IP routing is enabled and sonic firewall has access rule to 192.168.0.0/16. Why does internet only work having 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 rout in place?
if i create a dhcp scope 10.0.4.1 - 254 as vlan 1 on core switch(Router10.0.4.10) and want to extend that scope to 20.0.4.10 as a loopback and setup route to that address on the core switch those devices should be able to go to the internet. The purpose is to get the machine on the scope 20.0.4.1 - 254 to the internet. the dhcp issues the ip addresses but those machines cannot ping 10.0.4.10 thats the gateway for the current scope on vlan 1. vlan 1 ran out of IP's and i extended the scope on dhcp. these machines must be part of the vlan 1 network. (Data network) core switch router - 10.0.4.10 routing to my firewall as the Router out to the internet.10.0.4...... a loopback 20.0.4.10 ip route 20.0.4.10/24 10.0.4.10 ping 20.0.4.10 Thank You David
