I’m one of the weird people that have multiple smart glasses ( Bose Frames Alto, Ray-Ban Meta wayfarer, and Echo frames) Love the ray-bans, they’re my daily driver.
Solid review my guy! 👏🏾 As someone who works retail and sells the Ray-Ban Meta frames this was some good honesty. I've asked my customers about feedback and knew came back and gave his two cents today. Now I did get a pair last week and am going through all features so I can better speak on it. I'm not a huge social media guy so I slowly started to see different uses before deciding to get one personally. I have kids and like to capture moments with them, listen to tunes, and utilize the audio aspect of them as well. I also have a phone that on the screen said wasn't compatible, and had syncing issues in the beginning. But I didn't have to change my phone and no issues to speak of now. Again, solid video. Appreciate you!
One thing to consider is that they are not adjustable in any manner. It’s important to try them on to see if the side pieces referred to as temples are going to be the proper length as they cannot be bent around your ear or straightened out. If the frame is too tight or too loose on the side of a person‘s head, they can’t be tightened or widened as any adjustments will damage any of the components inside the frame. If there is an extended warranty available from the place of purchase definitely get it.
In regards to privacy, there is no expectations of privacy when you're in a public setting and guess what? I'm using my glasses in a public setting....... The only exception to these is common sense. The bathroom, the locker room, the dressing room...etc..etc.... Also, if people are paranoid about being recorded when they're in public, then they shouldn't go outside.... ATM machines records you, Retail stores records you, The bank records you, Walking the streets record you, when you're in your neighborhood you're being recorded, people have ring cameras there are cameras at a lot of street locations. Etc...etc.....And people also have dash cam on as you drive by them.... You are literally being recorded. All the time. Did you know in most cases, the court of law uses video to determine the outcome of a court case for the defense or the prosecution.... And guess what those videos are 95% never recorded by people that got permission to record you. Also, these would be perfect for law enforcement encounters.
Exactlyyyyy all those concerned are crazy paranoid conspiracy theorists. And jerks that are mad they're being recorded when they're acting foolish causing a scene anyway 😂
yes but you're overlooking the fact that people behave different when they know they're being recorded or can make the assumption they're being recorded. these barely afford to recording.
Great review! I've owned the transition lense version of these glasses for about a month. I'm looking forward to getting access to the Multimodal AI update that some creators here on YT have gotten. I commute with an E-bike every day so having open ear audio is great and then they provide wind protection for my eyes. Being able to record or take photos hands free via voice prompts while riding is something that I appreciate. Not one person has noticed the camera or asked if they are smart glasses which goes to show how discreet they are.

Had mine 6 months and had no such issues. Perfect in every situation. Even with the radio on loud in the car the other person can hear me perfect. Only issue I've had is, if you miss hear a message, you're able to ask meta to repeat the last message. But she keeps saying "no message in last minute," but I'm told by meta there is a fix coming with next upgrade. Well worth buying 🎉
Fantastic review. My phone calls sound great. As you said, the sound quality for phone calls is affected by the width of your nose. There are two things I wish Meta would enhance...and I think these could be accomplished through a software update: 1 - Allow for landscape photos; 2 - Allow me to take individual videos longer than 60 seconds long (without relying on streaming); On another note, my tip is to purchase the transition lenses. It gives you the versatility to wear all day long and they only cost $79 to $50 more than basic lenses. Bottom line transitions are well worth it! I'm looking forward to the addition of the AI features. Also looking forward to HUD in future versions. I think Meta/Rayban hit a home run with these glasses given today's state of technology.
Bit nerdy with clear frames but yes it lets you "use em everywhere" I mean you already could with the current glass sunglasses but the lenses are pretty dark and not very quality IMO

I have these and the Spectacles “NIKO”from Snapchat I got about 6 yrs ago, the video quality might be better vs RB but the speakers and main feature of going live with the Ray-Ban Metas is what seals the deal.

I was glad to hear him call out people worrying about privacy… if you have a cellphone or computer in today’s world, nothing you do is private lol. I ordered a pair and I hate fb but use instagram. These be nice and handy for all the traveling and activities I do. This video sold me for sure. Great honest video.

Get rid of the front “record” light! I would use these for safety purposes in my job. There are times i would need the event recorded but that light could aggravate a tense situation!
Just ordered the 53mm in matte black and with prescription. They were out of stock for a long time. The smaller ones were everywhere though. Had to wait. I'll be doing little fpv cleaning videos for our channel. Prob just shorts or something. I wish it was landscape and longer video clips. I'm ready for them. They should be here next week

I was literally at the store yesterday, grilling the sales associate about everything you described in the video. They did a great job at answering all my questions, and you followed up with a thorough walkthrough of their use. My only dilemma is transition vs amber lens. 🤯
I have transition and I personally recommend those because a lot of my video opportunities are going to be inside, so the clear lens inside still allows me to see, and not look dumb wearing shaded sunglasses inside.
Fat snoz means that you have better air-intake capability ,making superior air to lung, lung to blood, and blood to muscles superiority. Your bike performs well because of the same benefits. Peace. Happy I came across this video. I’m two days in with my new glasses and am in awe so far! No regrets with my purchase. I have the Caramel pair with prescription progressive transitional lenses. It flows against my brown skin. Them Amber’s are fire too 🔥

I like to hike/kayak, and it will be nice to take photos/videos of my trips without having to pull out a camera ever few minutes. Especially when I'm kayaking.

The fact that you’re used to seeing thru amber color tint for so long with no feeling of awkwardness…. could be an indication that you do have a “color blind” ophthalmic defect which is more common in males. I couldn’t imagine going thru my day looking at everything including my dog in an amber tint. Amazing 😳
It’s a preference. I’m not colorblind at all. I’d rather wear amber than dark shades so I can wear them more, and the standard translucent lenses looked too dorky on me in my opinion. The only other option was blue lenses but they look weird to me
they need to design additional battery life say using a Glasses Strap Lanyard Cords. Also if you cup your hands over your ears on a banger the sound is epic...

I have the old ones and I've been trying to determine if it's worth upgrading. Based on your review, I don't think I need to upgrade yet. It sounds like the new ones still have roughly the same problems as the previous generation, just slightly sleeker form factor.
shiny black model very prone to scratch , you need to touch ur glass because it's smart sunglasses... but when u touch it , the scratch on the frame not able to avoid

I own 6 pairs Ray-Bans from the original Wayfarers to original aviators etc. too much money I spent. That's all I am buying In my life. Will take of them for life. I am 44 going on 45 this year. Will take care of them as much as I can.

Great review! Which features do you use most often? Is it listening to music? Do you use the video camera regularly?
As an OTR Driver, I'll use these for documenting my Pre & Post Trip Inspections to CMA (cover my a$$) if anything ever goes wrong with the Rig. The FPV seems really great for my purpose and I need a Hands Free Device to do so.
My #1 question was, could I record without the ugly light. So thanks, you're the only one who tested covering the light to review every part of the glasses 🥂
I've had my mediclasses since July and loved them But after deleting all my videos, from the meta account it will not allow me to record video and keeps telling me that the storage is full. Now, when I call meta and ask them to walk me through resetting the phone. everyone is oblivious. So I did a factory reset on the phone thinking that it would help and it did not. It just made more work for me Is there anything that you can impart on me that would allow me to continuously using my glasses?
Great review - thanks a lot Terry. I still have my 1st Generation Snapchat Spectacles and am considering to get those. I loved the circular recording feature of the Spectacles since I also used recordings for some videos to be viewed on PC and TV. Sad that they don't offer a portrait mode. But I think that it's still a huge upgrade and they look much better. I wanted to get the dark green lenses, but your idea of the brighter amber lenses which work inside are a great idea. I think that I'll try those

Brilliant video and the shortcomings you point out are still a bridge too far for me atthe moment. £3×5 for polarised and around £400 for transitions is a chunk of change for these. I think if they sort some of the shortcomings you've pointed out, portrait only, mic issues and battery life I might be willing to revisit these. A review well done.
Dope glasses! Which store did you get them from? I like that particular Rebel Black with ber lenses but can't find them at my local Ray-Ban, Sunglass Hut or LensCrafters. I ended up buying the Shiny Black with G15
Yes my major gripe of the version 1 was that the camera is on the left side and you have to adjust. I wish they put the camera in the middle and kept the light on the sides. I don’t really know why a camera would need a light (we don’t have lights on our camera phones) unless it’s just to indicate that you’re filming. I still have to research the tech details on this light and if it is just for an indicator, then I would love to suggest to meta to move it.

Yeah, in a bathroom I put them on my head….just because. When people ask elsewhere they always ask are you recording now? I was a google glass of and Snapchat spectacles. I know the drill. But that question is always funny cause they would not know that the battery and storage would never handle that constant recording

Just get an eye exam with your eye health insurance and find a place like “LensCrafters” that sell them with prescription lenses. It’s that simple.
Which insurance is that? I just got back and my prescription with the smart glasses minus insurance still costs me close to 900 dollars

Good question. I'm debating between amber or gradient graphite.
I have transition and I personally recommend those because a lot of my video opportunities are going to be inside, so the clear lens inside still allows me to see, and not look dumb wearing shaded sunglasses inside.

Happy I came across this video. I’m two days in with my new glasses and am in awe so far! No regrets with my purchase. I have the Caramel pair with prescription progressive transitional lenses. It flows against my brown skin. Them Amber’s are fire too 🔥

Thank you for the really good review. I am waiting for my pair to arrive and I'm really excited. I ordered mine online with prescription, transition lenses. I like to hike/kayak, and it will be nice to take photos/videos of my trips without having to pull out a camera ever few minutes. Especially when I'm kayaking.

The camera causes pretty significant drain
The fact that you’re used to seeing thru amber color tint for so long with no feeling of awkwardness…. could be an indication that you do have a “color blind” ophthalmic defect which is more common in males. I couldn’t imagine going thru my day looking at everything including my dog in an amber tint. Amazing 😳
It’s a preference. I’m not colorblind at all. I’d rather wear amber than dark shades so I can wear them more, and the standard translucent lenses looked too dorky on me in my opinion. The only other option was blue lenses but they look weird to me

they need to design additional battery life say using a Glasses Strap Lanyard Cords. Also if you cup your hands over your ears on a banger the sound is epic...

I have the old ones and I've been trying to determine if it's worth upgrading. Based on your review, I don't think I need to upgrade yet. It sounds like the new ones still have roughly the same problems as the previous generation, just slightly sleeker form factor.
shiny black model very prone to scratch , you need to touch ur glass because it's smart sunglasses... but when u touch it , the scratch on the frame not able to avoid
He's right about that flaw, if you have a black guy nose u might have issues long run. But it's still my favourite tech of 2024

I've had my mediclasses since July and loved them But after deleting all my videos, from the meta account it will not allow me to record video and keeps telling me that the storage is full. Now, when I call meta and ask them to walk me through resetting the phone. everyone is oblivious. So I did a factory reset on the phone thinking that it would help and it did not. It just made more work for me Is there anything that you can impart on me that would allow me to continuously using my glasses?

Great review - thanks a lot Terry. I still have my 1st Generation Snapchat Spectacles and am considering to get those. I loved the circular recording feature of the Spectacles since I also used recordings for some videos to be viewed on PC and TV. Sad that they don't offer a portrait mode. But I think that it's still a huge upgrade and they look much better. I wanted to get the dark green lenses, but your idea of the brighter amber lenses which work inside are a great idea. I think that I'll try those

Brilliant video and the shortcomings you point out are still a bridge too far for me atthe moment. £3×5 for polarised and around £400 for transitions is a chunk of change for these. I think if they sort some of the shortcomings you've pointed out, portrait only, mic issues and battery life I might be willing to revisit these. A review well done.

Dope glasses! Which store did you get them from? I like that particular Rebel Black with ber lenses but can't find them at my local Ray-Ban, Sunglass Hut or LensCrafters. I ended up buying the Shiny Black with G15

Yes my major gripe of the version 1 was that the camera is on the left side and you have to adjust. I wish they put the camera in the middle and kept the light on the sides. I don’t really know why a camera would need a light (we don’t have lights on our camera phones) unless it’s just to indicate that you’re filming. I still have to research the tech details on this light and if it is just for an indicator, then I would love to suggest to meta to move it.

Yeah, in a bathroom I put them on my head….just because. When people ask elsewhere they always ask are you recording now? I was a google glass of and Snapchat spectacles. I know the drill. But that question is always funny cause they would not know that the battery and storage would never handle that constant recording
