“It’s like a square, but a little taller than wide” - Seth
So....a rectangle......
Lol
to be fair, "square" is a technical term here, he's referring to a 1:1 aspect ratio. There isn't a term "rectangular" with respect to aspect ratio (since all aspect ratios are rectangular) so it makes sense to say "square but with more vertical pixels" given the context.
@@JD-ub5ic so its rectangle at the end😂
Technically, all squares are rectangles.
Of course you can't trust it with your data because it's Meta. 😂
It's not "your data" after you upload it.
It’s “our data” 😅
All your data are belong to us.
@@ItsAlive111 Not on someone else's server 😭😭
Look at these simps defending meta, utter foolishness
Hear me out. Insta360go on a mini helmet on a chicken. Chicken in basket on front of bike. Premium stabilizer.
Been using my pair for skiing. I usually wear bone conduction headphones and bring a gopro that I rarely use. Anything dual use instantly gets priority for me. The ease of recording has allowed me to capture some fantastic moments that I would have missed fumbling around with a gopro.
Only gripe is the limited duration video clips that they implemented to prevent overheating the batteries strapped to your face.
It's always weird when another of my favorite RUclipsrs comments on a different favorite's videos. 😄
I too dislike the 1min time restriction. I'm not sure it's to prevent overheating however as video streaming with the glasses does not have a time limit.
They support recording up to 3 minutes now!
@@theBachelorofArts where do you see this at? Mine is still capped at 1 min
@@James.Buchanan Settings -> Camera -> Video Length; the options I have in my app are 15s, 30s, 60s, and 3 minutes
If this setting doesn't show up, maybe try to update both the app and the glasses themselves? Hope this helps!
Rayban should release a “sports” version that are based on wraparound frames and wider frame ratio. Market the Wayfarers to influencers and casual users and sports versions to enthusiasts.
Maybe that’s a plan 🤷♂️
I think like one company owns all these brands so maybe Oakley's will get a version.
@@TheSalPic that would be Luxottica Group. They own RayBan as well as Oakley; plus many others.
@@330_Crew that's the name! I couldn't think of it. Don't they own the stores too? And the eye insurance?
NueraLink you just broadcast what your eyes are seeing. No glasses, live.
"The Best camera is the one you have on you.", I think that's why everyone wants to hate these but end up loving them. They're just good enough that they come in handy for POV footage and candid moments.
Better than I expected, I could see for using it for occasional short form content. Otherwise I prefer widescreen and chest mount POV to get the bike perspective in the shot.
Love your channel!
@@oiyile1971 thanks for watching!
The older generation has wide camera angles, they are almost a little too wide
Same thought \m/
I found the sweet spot at the end of last season of flipping my mounting bracket around and having not only the GoPro a tad higher on the chest, but the battery door accessible to take the battery out during climbs (no phantom-drain that way!)
I lost myself in the pee scene 😢😂
One HUGE benefit of having a small field of view.
@@Eric-ku6cy Unless you have HUGE package to compensate.
" bumbling" ...i feel attacked lol im just saving the good stuff for the future 👍🤙🤘✊️
It’s a reference to a pink bike podcast where this guy was talking about how you shouldn’t record yourself “bumbling” down green and blue trails 😂
^ Aka “bumblegate” if you ever hear anyone say that
@@keatonverswiand people seemed very upset, but only after a youtuber said told them to be.
It was taken massively out of context. But when has that stopped anyone from being told what their opinion should be.
I’m just getting into MTB’s at 42, and kinda glad I’m coming in late so I can binge-watch all these awesome videos from Seth! Such a great channel!!
The older videos from 2018/19 are definitely the better ones !
Welcome aboard mate 👍🏻
Welcome from another 40+er, your gonna have a blast for sure!
Make sure you see the " Seth's bike hacks" and his early videeos. Specialty when he was a stereo installer 😅
Nice honest review, also mentioning the moral questions, which is very important. You’re a great honest guy, keep it up man! All the best from Europe :)
Thank you for all your videos. I'm 44 and getting back into cycling because I decided to have another kid a few years ago. I want to be in shape for him and just have fun. You are a good inspiration.
60 second clip restriction is narrowing it to almost unusable level.
It's intended for the short attention span of the TikTok and RUclips Shorts crowd.
@@Durwood71and you gonna press the record button while riding to get the 60 second clip you want? 🤦♀️
Its a dealbreaker for sure. Google Glass defaulted to 10 seconds, but could easily be extended to any length. Also Glass shot in landscape which is my preference but I understand that many people today prefer portrait.
I only record stuff for my own memories, and only use 30 second clips to upload to Strava. But the video might be 5 minutes long to get that 30 second clip.
honestly surprised they dont have another model that allows for a micro sd. def enough space for it and itll help so much. i just dont think thats who they are geared for
If they release a set in 16x9, I'm in.
Edit- just got to the 60 second limit. Nevermind. I really wanted an easy way to film on the Motorcycle like a dash cam, and MTB like a gopro.
Same. That's one of the best use cases for these. Too bad it can't even loop and save on command.
4:32 you've seen me out there bumbling. That's right. Just bumbling down the trails. Shout out to all the Bumblers. We need a Bumblin' tee shirt. 😆
I'd buy one. pinkb!ke font? yep!
@@alexviktora 🤫
This is awesome Seth! I just started mountain biking after BMX biking and I didn't think it'd be all that different, but in reality, you're holding a lot more weight.
The stealthy “camera dad” factor is huge though. I’m interested just for that. I can carry around one less thing, and I’m not that guy with all the cameras getting in the way at my kid’s sports. Sign me up
Always a good day when Seth posts🎉
I burst out laughing when I saw that stream. Thats hilarious! 😂
7:24 Seth is a professional streamer.
I run a full-face helmet currently. My camera sits by my mouth with a windslayer on it. It picks up my voice well, and the wind sock cancels out the wind. But this would definitely fill the gap filming while working in the garage. And I wouldn't need to remember eye protection.
The concept is terrific. I like the soft case that charges. I like the fact that your viewfinder is your eyes. No more lining up the camera before you begin. If they could improve the CPU, that could probably fix a lot of shortcomings. You're right, though, it is good in certain situations right out of the box. I've seen these from a while ago, but I'm glad you did an action video of them.🤙🏽
love your content seth
Happy easter seth!
Love your shop and great review.
I snorted my coffee out my nose when I saw your "stream", so thanks for that! 😂. Hilarious as ever, Seth!
Finally the review I’ve been looking for. Other reviews have stated that if the led light is covered with tape or something they won’t record, so I guess they’re glass hole resistant at least.
Remembering how quickly people figured out how to remove the noise-making part of AirTags, I'm sure some unscrupulous tinkerer will soon find a way to take out the light on these things...
What does it solve? A better product will emerge that doesn't have this limitation kind of like how cameras on phones are right now.
Who cares if there an indicator. We have an expectation of privacy in our home or bathroom but I’m very pro 1st amendment
@@andrewenzor6418 Noone is filming you in your bathroom with weird spy glasses already, problem solved. But I want to film secretly interactions with the police, government officials, angry Karens and such. And I don't want to get arrested or attacked for it.
Very immersive! Thanks, Seth!
Super helpful review. These glasses seem like they’d be great for rides when you aren’t planning to film something substantial, but you still want to keep your options open if some magic happens.
Thanks fir making this video about the Meta.. Cause I bought them glasses and bought it for my activities including MTB Events.
They barely had me to begin with but they really lost me after the 60 second clip limit revelation 😂
This is an interesting direction for action cams and might be viable one day, but as soon as you said Meta, that is a hard pass. Good idea though, hopefully we will see one of the other action cam companies come up with something similar.
You ought to feel the same way about RUclips...
You do know you are watching this on RUclips right? They farm data just like Meta does, so your point isn’t valid.
Seth, I have the version with the transition lenses and they work great indoors and darken up pretty quickly once you walk outside.
Be careful. Recording without permission can be illegal in lots of places.
@@harrygrimley4352 huh? I was replying to his statement about not wanting to wear them indoors since they’re dark. They make a version with transition lenses that darken when exposed to sunlight. They are clear indoors and turn in to sunglasses when outside.
Awesome review! Even as a casual user I would find the forced vertical video and 60s clips unnecessarily limiting. It would be cool if it had an overwriting memory buffer (like a dashcam) where it would constantly record and only save the last 60 seconds when you stop it.
I just arrived in bentonville thanks for the inspiration 🎉
Not gonna lie am not on the channel very often but i come by every few months and watch all the new video.I remember that first video i watched it was that walmart mangoose blue bike that you filled with sand. Now i ride my GT Avalanche Expert 2009 i think i have coples of upgrades wider bar short steam better brakes and stuff and i rly enjoy it i ride it every day all because of you,i fell in love with bikes watching your videos.really appreciate what you do!
You should really get a set of ND filters for your GoPro... Game changer for video quality
They're on to something. Solid first effort. Now if the next effort has a wider view it could be a serious W.
It's still a mystery to me why GoPro or any other action camera brand won't come up with a modular system with a cable-attached camera module. This would let us put the camera itself anywhere without the weight penalty.
I've been using mine with prescription lenses for a few months now! one of the great features is being able to livestream some of my rides, theres not really anything else that can do that as effortly as just talking to your glasses!
This review is exactly what I was looking for.
Now i know for sure that the glasses are not what I am looking for.
They are amazing and stylish tool for a contemporary social media user and serve as a perfect tool for garhering information on that user.
If only they would make a separate sport version of the glasses with: wider view/no clip time restriction/external sd card slot/option to charge it while you use it.... but without social media/call features...
"bumbling". Hahahaha ive been waiting for that Seth. Damn i laughed.
I hope they make a version of this that functions like a dashcamera. When I am cycling on the road I don't want a full camera setup strapped to my helmet, but the ability to capture people making egregiously dangerous manoeuvrers would be useful, especially if a collision occurs.
4:38 I, too, hate it when all I’ve done is filmed my top tube. When I ride my top tube is usually small, squishy and sweaty.
i actually cant wait to see shed vids with these being used. it looks so much better with 2 hands showing everything then a phone but the ratio kinda sucks for your yt vids but id def get used to it a lot of others mix ratios for fpv parts and do fine. but for short form shed vids it would be perfect
Was waiting for a Photographer to review one, but this is all I needed.
As a Pennsylvanian mtb’er who has ridden DuPont many times it’s sweet to see it in your videos Seth. That area of the country is so awesome.
I saw you wearing these at the off-road games, and was wondering if you were making a video about them!
OMG That tripod you showed at the end... I am shopping for one right now. Huge time saver!
Did you find it? I have been searching!
@@humbleoutdoorfilmco Yes, it's the Edelkrone StandPLUS... They offer it in the regular version and the pro version for $290, and $490. I am considering getting one, but have been investing in a few other gizmos as well to try to save some time.
I know this sounds silly, but my gopro is actually a deterrent, if you look on RUclips you'll see some videos of moped thieves noticing the camera and apologizing and backing off. Yes yes..England is a terrible place atm
The more recent GoPro models can live stream to RUclips and yes that's a huge deterrent, if the thief is told it's live streaming (and it's capable of it, but you could bluff I guess). They aren't likely to want to steal if there's 30 people watching and any one of them can just ring cops and send them to where you are.
My GoPro batteries are like good for 40 mins max
There was an experiment where scientists proved people were behaving better when there was a mirror in the room and they could see themselves in the mirror. That's it. No cameras. Monkeys were ashamed of their own stupid selves just because there was a glossy surface around. So who's the glasshole now?
I love the camera mount...such a neat idea...
Ok, now that was entertaining. About spit out my drink at the 7.24 point in the video. 😂
Seth, this video is a masterpiece. I literally spit out my tea @ 7:16 and again @ 7:24
“I see you out there…bumbling”
😂
Can confirm seth they are in 3:4 watching in a 4:3 tablet switched to portrait and it zooms in perfect to my screen
BTS was super cool, more of that pls
hay Seth love the videos
LMFAO!!!! HE SAID IT!!! i see you there ... bumbling lmfao this made me laugh out loud!
damn, thats a game changer. in years time those glasses would be well innovated and am pretty sure a lot of us would be using those glasses in the future.
Gives you those Chrisfix vibes with that viewing angle. They both say water the same too! Haha. Enjoyed the video!
Listening to the podcast when climbing 😂 and something like Iron Maden when descending
I came for the review of the glasses that I knew I won't buy but now I really _need_ to buy that tripod 😮.
I love the colour of that BP shirt.
Great content seth! 🔥
the on camera piss was hilarious. one of the best product review videos in a minute
Definitely a useful review.
Major chrisfix vibes with the glasses lol. Wooder boddle 😂
That "Z" support, way way cool. Deal killer for me on the glasses is the limited recording time.
This review is pretty great. I first started watching your RUclips when you had the other channel when I was trying to learn about mountain biking after being diagnosed with MS. Unfortunately the disease process has caught up with me and I am not able to pursue that interest but I still enjoy your videos. Thanks for the great content.
I’ve considered these for shooting hands free workshop video too
Noticed that your insta posts were on Metas , knew this video was coming out soon lol
Nice review
Nice review. The product has promise, but is not there yet. Good to know the lenses can be made prescription. Hopefully that is any lens manufacturer not just supplied by Rayban, as my prescription is not exactly standard. I would need better stabilisation and fewer compression artifacts. High resolution is not critical 1080p is fine, I don't need 4K. Vertical orientation and just 60 seconds recording rules them out.
I have been riding with my pair for maybe a year now. I like wearing them just to listen to music, either in high school classes or on the bike.
Pretty sweet ngl, what neat tech
Insta 360 go, dji action 2 already did that years ago and did it very well
Technologically impaired... 🤔😂🤣 Happy Easter!
I'm not even into mountain bikes but your videos are good. I'll subscribe.
Good video Seth! If Ray Ban teamed up with Google or go pro for content download many would be more interested. Meta. 😅
transition lenses are the bomb
When not mounting my GP on my handlebars I mount it under my helmet visor. I cut a small hole in the visor for the GP prongs to go through. It mounts upside down. Added a few of the extra helmet pads underneath the visor to level it off. It's an old 8 so no self-leveling.
Great review. These seem perfect for short form content. Performance on the trail is so-so at best but might be good enough for hiking. Does the weight bother you? How's the battery life? The dual cameras mean you can shoot VR?
This would make it easier to get in Chrisfix mode.
Insta 360 Go 3…fits on the front of the helmet visor…or on the visor of your basecap. Magnetic fitting on every metal surface. Best of two worlds
7:24 hahahaha love it
GET THAT BAG SETH!!! 💰💰💰
Looks really promising, not quite there yet, but for Gen 1 it looks really good. Really like the angle you get from eye level.
These are gen 2 - still remarkably better than the gen 1 stories.
I think the clear lenses would be great as safety glasses for working in the shop - being able to video the entire process of taking something apart would be so much better than stopping to take a photo at each step!
Crazy what the GoPro effect is. I was up on that trail yesterday and it’s much steeper than what it appears to be.
I’ve been using the insta go X3 recently. Love it for action cam.
How many clips can it store?
In the US the AMA banned action cams from being mounted on helmets for race events. Everyone would use chin mounted gopros on their helmets for dirtbike events and then post the races. So if you are at an AMA sanctioned event then sorry you cant use a helmet mounted cam. This has meant we've all transitioned to chest mounts which suck because now you arent looking where the rider is looking and sometimes you get the handlebars in the way. I'd love to see 100%, Scott or others take this idea and mount the cam into googles as it would get us back to real POV recordings.
I got our shop to buy a couple of nub hexes because I saw them on your channel!
When Seth said top tube, I thought he was talking about the other top tube. Lol
You're Bad Seth lol, funny jab at the pink bike podcast crew "Bumblin".
Is that what that was about? Is Seth butthurt over that too?
Great video! Could you tell me which lenses you have? They look like the light grey gradient
It's what I upload with I usually stich the clips but they are great for fishing you tell it to record when you get a bite
Perfect for commuters actually. A dash cam I can wear.
I have 2 of these sunglasses, one of them is prescription. The main negative feedback I have is the battery. I typically get 45 to 60 minutes out of them.
Great review, I didn’t buy them because of Meta and 60 sec video limit. Still nice looking glasses.
Love the form factor, finally tech eye wear that won't get you assaulted for wearing them. they seem really useful for shooting fussy handwork without some weird tripod rig looming over your head. my guess is the mic placement must be at a spot on the human skull that had good acoustic properties (sideburn dead cats) very interesting.
