      Eric Barnes Yeah, they are used to running 51 or 52 first 400m splits. They can both run around 1:43 probably. David Rudisha is still in my opinion the greatest 800m runner of all time.

    • @ericbarnes4879
      @ericbarnes4879 6 лет назад +22

      Jordan Shaw yeah I know. This is a kind of workout I could do. Probably just doing it as a light but quick workout before NCAAs and no doubt Rudisha is the greatest. He holds the 2 fastest times ever in the 800.

    • @jolteon43
      @jolteon43 6 лет назад +11

      Trust me it's easy for them. The first 2 sets at 56 and 54 were a warm up for that 51.8.
      Top milers and 5km guys can do 8-10 x 400m at their mile pace with a minute rest so in the 55-56 range. Now if you give 2min and 5min rest to guys who can run 45-45.5 for 400m for less than 2 miles total they will do some damage!

    You have to be a dedicated son of a gun to develop that kind of work capacity. Many Africans come here to run, get an education, and run some more. We all have it in us to be great at something. How willing are we to work for it and how willing are we to be pushed, trained, and coached. El Paso does have a change of season but most days are sunny. Combine that with the altitude and you have a good place to train for 400 meters on up. The UTEP Campus is hilly along with that part of town so you can get hill work in. Once I went to an indoor meet in Albuquerque and D2 Adams State from Colorado is unbelievable as well. Great Running tradition as well

    Hey Utep Miners stadium! Got family that is alumni from there. To anyone that loves track and field. Especially the Masters events as well. I have a dilemma and need y'alls opinion.
    For the first time since 1998 I ran in a open track meet 60M Masters 30+ and won it a few weeks ago. Felt like I shut it down a little early due to. Well lack of training and play it again track spikes on. No excuses but I really feel like I couldve done better.
    My 9th and 10th grade boys are in track now. One is a sprinter and one is a thrower. After the HS season and Corona Virus complications Im going to have them experience AAU like I did in San Diego. Better late than never right?
    Long story longer. Now Im training for June 6, 2020 to run the 100M and 200M Masters 35-39 at 39 as of a few handful of days from now.
    My ULTIMATE life long goal is to run in the Penn Relays so next years bday present/bucket list to myself is to compete in the Masters 40+ 100. As a teen I wouldve cancel all appts and outdoor activites to watch it. I used to run AAU in California when Obea Moore was around and Monique Henderson. If you havent heard of them for any reason regardless of generation. Look them up both were top Men and Women competitors and I had the blessing of watching them in their youth. Incredible to watch.
    Well, I pulled my hamstring my Senior Year going in as Top Returner for "Western League" CIF in SDtrackmag. For the 100M, 200M, amd 400M. I actually still share the 100M record for my HS 10.8. If I had I stayed hydrated, got proper rest, and stretched that time wouldve been brought down a bit in my opinion.
    I wanted to document my training, times, splits, and change of diet to prepare for July. To show a timeline of this 38 almost 39 year old power over that hill and see whats on the other side.
    I'm actually starting day one this Saturday and will start documenting from the first minute.
    I was wondering if anyone thinks its a good You Tube Channel for myself called.
    "In 2021 and still 40 years young. The Masters plan of getting back into 100 meter shape. Penn Relays here I come"
    Please no harsh criticism I just think the bond my kids and I are having as they have been more exposed to electronics and what they want to do we will supoort them (10th grader did band for a while. I played football).
    I really dont mind giving advise to the younger kids because the J.O. in New Orleans was fun and I wish I couldve ran earlier than 8th grade.
    Got into lifting for a bit then I played USSSA softball for a good while and in the B & C Open competitive divisions. So luckily I wasnt in terrible shape but lost more steps than Id like to.
    Lmk what yall think? Thanks and God bless.
    For those interested Ill make the channel and add or update you. Hopefully Flotrack sees this and I appreciate all the great videos.
    Flo Jo was at a Poway relays meet when Obea ran the 400 Intermediate. I'll mever forget that day.

    While in high school Paul Ereng designated a group or us as strictly “Grass Runners”. We were not fit for the track because he couldn’t tell whether we were running or standing😂

    Is this like a anaerobic capacity workout? Add up the times and it's a very competitive 800 so they're just building capacity it looks like?? So if your a 2 flat runner you could run this in like 60, 30, 30 right?

    When I was a high school freshman, I ran a 2:12 800m. Is that good? I am a sophomore rn, going into track looking to drop it to sub 2:05. Is that realistic, plus what do you think my 400 would be. I am mostly a 800 and 1600 runner but I want to know what range I should expect.

      You could probably knock out a 57-60 400. Dropping from 2:12 to 2:05 is tough but doable. Lots of 200s and 400s.
