The problem is that for today’s body builders, the gym is all they have and nothing else. They look like they are suffering and angry and shit. Like they don’t enjoy what they do sometimes, the 70s guys were smiling and happy and laughing and joking around while also training super hard. The vibe was different

Thank u guys for pickin his brain. He's a mastermind of positivity and intensity. I would like to hear more of his thoughts on what goes thru his mind before and while trainin. Thanks old school
Hi Joe! You're very welcome & we're glad everyone is enjoying the content! ;) Stay tuned for future episodes, we have more on the way, & keep it Old School! 💪
he says his legs werent that big lolol... they remain unsurpassed to this day in terms of size . shape ..proportion ..seperatiion and detail and razor cuts lol
What a nice and mostest, humble dude. He said his legs were never that big! Lol.... I almost coughed up my drink! His legs are and have always been legendary! Unbelievable legs genetics and work ethic. He’s a leg God, in bodybuilding! 👍🏻
That first pose and his double biceps behind the head/abs shot are my favourite poses of The Golden Eagle. So much muscularity. The power just jumps off the page/from the screen.
I think he just meant to say that the way the entire quad looked was like a tear drop. Starting from the hip (small and a point) to the knee (where it sweeps out and looks fat at the bottom). I understand what you're referring to though. My vastus medialis are terrible lol
Mr Tom Platz, one of the most intelligent bodybuilders, whom I met when I was a kid, is a tremendous athlete and worker of the body. His advice is priceless.
He's an awsome bodybuilder, I'm a life long fan of his, been watching him since I was a kid, it is really a pleasure to listen to an icon and legend and watching him work out makes me wanna improve my sessions at the gym He's the true leg monster, you can disagree, but of you agree, gimme a thumbs up! Tom Platz is my hero and one of the greatest of all time!
Always love Tom Platz , we share the same birthday = LEG DAY !!! My last leg day (actually every leg day) i can hear Tom yelling 5 more ! If you can walk normally after leg day, you've not pushed yourself hard enough !
The man's a legend. Very intelligent, positive and probably the hardest working bodybuilder ever. I met the man once in 1986. A complete honour and pleasure.
i was never a bodybuilder enthusiast, and i don't even lift weights, but i always loved mr. Platz and his motivation...he is awesome. Cheers from Argentina, from a big fan of yours mr. Platz. We love you.

I am a great believer of his style of training. Everytime I train I try to train like him and to take every single training session to failure. A true legend of bodybuilding Tom Platz❤️🙏
WOW JUST WOW!!! Tom Platz...I could listen to Mr. Platz speak all day. I could be drawn in by the way he talks about pop-tarts if he were to talk about them. The way he talks about bodybuilding is why I really love bodybuilding
Bodybuilder Jim Quinn I believe , who in an interview with Ironman magazine, was praised for his intelligence and having a master's degree in so and so, commented on Platz's acute mind and great business sense.
I have used this style during my competition prep sometimes, it does wonders. I can change my physique in a few hours when I’m training with intensity and purpose
Word has it he's still holding that little cup LOL....Only kidding, much respect, I learned something, I love Tom's voice and his brand he has created. Im glad he is still so engaged in the sport.
This man’s intensity is like a fire that cannot be put out, i can feel his intensity through the screen with just a cup of tea gotta hand it to mr.TOM PLATZ (THE QUADFATHER)
Thanks for all those years of great inspiration Tom. Every time I Squat, I put on my headphones and listen to video's of YOU. Makes me feel like you're right there next to me encouraging me, and I don't want to disappoint you.
I fucking love Tom Platz, real old school motivating legend. I Even consider more rest between my workouts, now that my own training is going more and more outa space, but nothing can compete with Platz
Love these videos. Kudos to the guys at OSLabs for employing Tom as a spokesman and narrator for these videos. Couldn’t have picked a more motivating and knowledgeable professional who has the MOST respect of all the pros today from back in the day or now. Bad ass! guys keep it up!!
I never knew this man was still alive. The way people talked about him was as if he wasn't. I'm glad i get to see content where he's talking about back in the day
I could watch Platz talk for hours. The man is the epitome of what bodybuilding should. I powerlift and I still take leg training advice from this man. Who knows legs better that the man himself!
I started on my journey of squatting today using just the weight of the bar. But through my set I kept hearing Tom in my head saying "5 more!" Managed 100 reps in that set! I then used the hack squat using his technique and demolished my legs further. After leg extensions and hamstring curls I certainly couldn't walk back to the car.. Tom is my biggest inspiration on Leg days!
I put Tom Platz right up there with Mike Mentzer and Frank Zane: All three are what I consider “Thinking Man’s Bodybuilders”. Very intelligent guys, virtually “engineers of the body AND mind”.
Great, great respect for you sir, your passion for bodybuilding is still inspiration for us,will be through out our's life, thank you so much sir for inspiring millions
The Golden Eagle he was called but is really a leg supremo. Its nice that he is coming out with his principles of training and sharing the secrets now. Thanks for the video.
My amateur natty advice: On week one bounce between push one day, pull the next and do that over the course of 6 days (3 days pull, 3 days push). On week two, don't do any push/pull and just do legs every two days focusing on different areas ie; Monday do legs with more emphasis on glutes, Wednesday do legs with more emphasis on quads/hams, Friday do legs with emphasis more on calves This will give the upper body a whole week to recover while you do legs and then give your legs a whole week to recover the next week.
Tom Platz reminds me of that badass uncle that everyone has that you can't wait to see at the family reunion.
iTzDark740 im that kind a uncle
@@max_fjellstorm will you be my uncle ❤
Dont have that uncle.
Yeah I know right haha
I am that uncle. 6'3 194lbs my nephews and nieces call me " gaint"
His speech has more intensity than my entire workout :)
It's because you don't have enough striations in your "butt ox"
"The gym shouldn't be your entire life, the gym should make your life better"
That sums ups the true essence of bodybuilding
Thank you Tom Platz

It's a nice thought. But for the modern bodybuilder, it looks like the gym does the opposite.
"My legs were never really that big" - The Quadfather
Always humble
Few professionals bodybuilder today could match the size and shape of his legs...Very humble!
Quadzillar
I am not a rapper haha
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 each one of his legs would have been the size of my waist
He trained legs every two weeks, but the session lasted a week.
500lbs for 12 hour sets
Yeah, but when you train like he did and almost die doing it then you need 2 weeks vacation. He had best legs no doubt.
Haaaaaaaha, u ain't lying
lmao 😂
kipponi question so did he train one time a week but that one workout session killed his legs and then he rested for 2 weeks?
With his personality, he should have gone to the movies, like Arnold. Lots of guys have big muscles, but this has the cool star persona.
@Håkan Lindgren Problem is, in his days, leg muscle wasnt that much of merits. Only chest, shoulder, abs, and arms.
@@anstjsdlr absolutly, but this guy is especially valuable nowadays, because the greatest aesthetic is excelsous leg conditioning
Tom Platz was born on leg day!
People seem to forget he actually trained other body parts... and looked great overall
When he was born, they started calling it leg day*
That's probably the best way to put it. Nice.
Tommy P is Leg Day
I didn’t hear anything he said. I can’t stop staring at that tiny coffee cup

How to have legs like Tom Platz:
-Do squats
-Do hack squats
-Pronounce buh-TOCKS
Not glutes but buh-tocks
Butt-Ox
