One of your best reviews, because you actually explained what's on the alternate endings (you usually just name them, and I wanted to know more, because I have just the base game!). Anyway, I love all your Talisman videos!
Thanks Leo! Yes, we try to keep the review length shortish as a lot of people tune off if a review is too long so going through each Alturnative Ending Card in other reviews would take too long. But as this was a mini-mini expansion we had time. Glad you're liking our Talisman review. By the way we're got a card game of our own funding on Kickstarter right now, if you're interested? The link is www.kickstarter.com/projects/thebottledimp/the-bottled-imp-card-game
I bought all the expansions in the nick of time before they sold out from the stores. Your videos have helped me make sense of all the rules, so thanks! Also SUPER excited to hear that the 5th edition will be coming out, you are a wizard for knowing such a great revelation. Your reviews are awesome!
+TimoChili Well done for buying them before the doom of the 4th edition. I've just seen The Firelands expansion on eBay for £300! Crazy prices. I am indeed a wizard! Actually I'm playing a rogue in D&D at the moment. By the way, we've just set up our Bottled Imp Facebook Fellowship of Imps Group. Be great if you join. We want it to be the place to discuss all things fantasy! Search for The Bottled Imp on Facebook, click the Join button and I'll add you to the group.
Due to misunderstandings and miscommunications, discussed on BGG, there was no 5th edition, but only a reprint of 4th edition Talisman by Games Workshop, and they only reprinted some of the expansions, and not this one.
@@Steve-L Now theres a 5th edition, lol, 7 years later. I feel like theyre just gunna re-do the 4th edition Expansions.. a shame, 4th Edition could have even more expansions and the 5th edition board is weird with it facing the wrong way
@@skarmachild I sold all my Talisman stuff between reprints. For $800. Got more money than invested and many years of enjoyment and memories. I still like the game but there are better games and shorter games now.
In order not to use Alternative Endings, wich I never play with, I just shuffled the Adventure deck AND the Nether cards together. Nether cards look like twisted Adventure cards, so I thought it is pretty easy to figure how they can be part of the whole deck. I believe this expansion is a very nice disruptive element. I chose to introduce it in a new ruling : when the next adventure card to be drawn is a Nether one, you must draw it as an additional card, except that, as indicated in the Nether Realm rules, you cannot choose to re-draw it in anyway. Only once they are placed on the board and encountered. When you are instructed to draw more than one adventure cards, such as in the Ruins or Hidden Valley, and a Nether card is part of the required number of cards drawn, you must draw an additional adventure card. In this way, if 6 successive Nether cards would be the next cards to be drawn, you would have to draw them all. This rule has a nice hidden purpose, to counter the Prophetess/Orb of knowledge/Sage/Oathsworn Oracle and similar "foresight" great abilities.
I'm surprised you didn't mention how the print is different, how if you're trying to use Pandora's box as a hidden ending, its color is slightly different than all the other hidden endings and can be spotted out with ease. Also where are you heading the whispers of a 5th Edition, this year no less? I have scoured the internet for any news related and come up empty minutes some vague comments on a forum from 4 or 5 years ago.
+TherealCCChasarrived Ah, yes, forgot that point! Yes, Games Workshop posted in their Warhammer forum that a 5th edition is due later this year. They haven't said anything else. My guess is they'll say more at UK Games Expo. Exciting!
The Bottled Imp it seems bizarre that they would suggest a 5th Edition the same year the 4rth edition is making its way to the PlayStation 4. It makes you wonder if the proposed 5th Edition will be the exact same thing without Fantasy Flight's name on it.
+TherealCCChasarrived Yes, it does seem strange. I've got a feeling they might be doing something slightly different. Don't know what but it does seem a ah too soon for a 5th edition. By the way, we've just set up our Bottled Imp Facebook Fellowship of Imps Group. Be great if you join. We want it to be the place to discuss all things fantasy! Search for The Bottled Imp on Facebook, click the Join button and I'll add you to the group.
The Bottled Imp agreed, I would wait two or three years and then deliver something on another level of quality that puts the 4rth edition to shame in comparison.
Another great video! I have watched pretty much all your Talisman videos, they're great. Quick couple of questions if you don't mind :) 1) Have you ever played with more than 6 players? I'm wanting to play with a group of friends, but there will most likely be 7 or 8 of us. I have the base + Reaper and Werewolf, so the number of characters isn't an issue. 2) Have you ever played with all the expansions? Or at least all of the corner ones? What was it like?
+exonwarrior Thanks Exon! Glad you like what we do. Yes! Only once and it's a really long game! More so than usual. Be prepared for downtime between your goes. I'd just stick to the base game and those mini expansions as you say. I've played many times with all of the expansions! It's an epic game that can last 15 hours so plan when you play it well! It's more like an event than a game. By the way, we've created a Facebook Group where you can hang out and chat with fellow Bottled Imp viewers and fantasy fans. You can post things up for discussion too. If you search on Facebook for The Bottled Imp Fellowship, click the Join button, we'll add you in. Be great to see you there!
+Guylanda128 Yes! We did a review of the Digital Edition last year plus I did a play through. Check them out. The play through is fun! I don't really get a lot of time to play video games. My love is Skyrim and because that was such a huge game I just played that for 4 years! Waiting for the next Skyrim! Do you like playing Talisman online? It's just come out on PS4!
I exclusively play Talisman Digital Edition, the closest I've gotten to the real game is when it's wrapped up in a store. T:DE is great though, I've played about 260 hours with my long-distance best friend over the past year or so. I got into your channel wanting to know more about the expansions that were going to be coming out for it. Glad to know you are an avid Skyrim fan, it's one of my favorites as well.
+Guylanda128 Ah, nice! Yeah, Nomad Games have done a really good job adapting it to digital. Great you can play with your friend who lives miles away. I'd suggest signing up to Nomad Games newsletter from their website for their news.
Did you play or used any fan-made expansions? I think some of them are really well done for example The Vision or Nekropolis. They are all availble to download at www.talismanisland.com .
+HalfDeadMan Thanks HalfDead. Glad you like it. Strangle enough, I've just created my first character for a new campaign tonight! We did a review of the Starter Set, so check that out. Tory tempted to do a series on the rules and how to create characters. What do you think?
+The Bottled Imp I think it would be very useful for new players. Reading all those rules is too overloading and takes a lot of time to understand everything. I would love to see it.
+HalfDeadMan Yes, some people prefer to watch videos. I'm still learning the game myself so I'd need to play it more to start doing a series on it. I do want to do one though as I'm having a lot of fun with D&D. By the way, we've just set up our Bottled Imp Facebook Fellowship of Imps Group. Be great if you join. Pandora's box is one of the most satisfying Alternate Endings. I've played it twice and both times I managed to get to the Crown of Command before anyone else. And it is so fun to deal these absolutely horrible cards on them, like if they aren't lucky on die rolls, they're gonna die after the first 2 cards. And the first timeI played it I had 2 identical Spells that allow you to change the result of any die into a 1, so when my friend rolled a 6, he was so happy and then I cast that Spell on him and he was killed, just like that. I know, I'm a little bit evil, but what can I do? It's just too much fun
Another good review from the bottled imp! Btw, anyone knows where i could buy this expansion. People on amazon and eBay is selling it for a ridiculous price! X(

Thanks for the update. 4th edition has beautiful artwork.

And wow, did not expect that long, but I guess it makes sense. Still want to buy them though. :D
+exonwarrior
Thanks! Come say hello to your fellow imps! Yeah, it's a beast of a game. You can make it shorter by modifying the rules.
Have you looked at the Digital Edition? Any plans to talk about that in the future?

how about that 5th edition? hahaha.
good review nonetheless. Do you know if a 5th edition is on the cards?
I dont know how much sense this makes now that a 5th edition is on its way, but have you ever thought of doing a video where you rank the expansions?
Great review as always! Are you planning to do anything with D&D or other RPG?
