Oh MAN what a tune. So glad you got to this. This is one of the most important tracks in the history of UK Hip Hop. A perfect summary of what England is.
It's crazy how this tune came out 11 years ago, and is more relevant than ever today. Everything that was happening then, continues to happen today, and if anything, has been snowballing.
You’re now hitting some of the real monuments dude, some of the tracks that are just monoliths in the UK scene! Jehst has a few of those, “Citizen Smif” being my personal favourite. Some of them are big album numbers, others have been lost in the reams of ep’s and mixtapes. For example, Task Force’s “Graf da bus up”. Doesn’t actually feature on any album, but every kid in UKHH and graf scene knew that track, and it usually resulted in venues being destroyed every time it was played live!
Wait, stop, concentrate on the reverberation Word to the bass bin, place bin laden with his face in the basin shaving pure song. Dirty (Check Me Out Yo) and ESP off that album aswell
fun fact: Jehst was accepted into The University of Westminster to study illustration but he chose his record deal and now he illustrates directly into your mind with his pen without you ever seeing the ink.
This is the only channel I autolike every video, because even if I'm not familiar with the occasional track, I know that people only recommend fire tunes and my man is gonna actually pay attention, review and dig every track 😀
@@CanadianDadReacts no problem dude, it's been genuinely heartwarming watching you discover the UK sound, and reconnect with hip hop. We're a similar age I'd imagine so although I'm English and been aware of and even involved in the scene, I appreciate what it was like for cats like us watch the golden age of hip hop disappear in favour of chart/mumble crap... Its refreshing to have a channel with regular uploads of decent music, with mature considered reactions and not degenerating into yet another 'fire in the booth/grime' tube... Don't get me wrong, there are some amazing talents involved in that scene, and you may get round to that in time, but atm? - keep doing what you're doing my G I'm really enjoying it!. Couple of requests when you get a chance please? 1) Dirty Dyke - plenty more piss in the toilet. 2) Dirty Dyke and jam baxter - me&you Both different, both great. 😉
You’ve gotta check out Melanin 9 man. So many tunes but either Colours, Loves Stencil, Polaroid, Cosmos, Solace or Landslide. He’s one of the best lyricists ever
And that is how I feel about England, I've listened to jehst for 20 years and it still amazes me when I hear these tracks like it's new. I've just discovered these reaction videos so it's good to see him and Chester p getting recognition from channels like yours
You're a legend mate! Much love from Australia! It's a shame Jehst doesn't get the shine overseas that he deserves! I'm 33 now and first heard one of his most known tracks (High Plains Anthem) on a CD that came with an ecko shirt I bought when I was like 14 lol everything on the disc was trash... Then high plains anthem came on and I was hooked haha.
My cousin (RIP) used to sit me and my brother down when we were kids and put on the grimiest NY hip-hop. This brings back memories as he'd pause it every few seconds and just highlight certain lyrics. Metaphors, double entendres and break down the slang. I'm so glad he did it. It's sad that people are still unaware of the artistry in Hip-Hop and how much a real lyricist can pack into a couple of bars.
i saw jehst kill Manchester couple months back as i try not to miss a northern show. your channel is fire bro/ you have had a couple of my boys tracks played too that was bless. i love yout love for hip hop. jehst is king. die when you die would be a great track to see you react to. thanks for the channel. love my bro from lleeds.
Some suggestions : Skinnyman - Council Estate Of Mind / Kyza - Right Now (produced by jehst) / Jack Flash - Four Letter F Word / Dubbledge - Learn Respect / Doc Brown - Think Back / Dirty Diggers - The Same Old / Braintax - Oceans / Asaviour - The Homecoming (produced by Jehst) >> all certified uk legends 👍🏻

I'm so glad you're checking this out man! Lots of love for Jehst and you brother! Had to edit and say thanks for actually appreciating the lyricism. Not many people actually care about it and properly analyse what these rappers are saying!
Thanks! I appreciate you saying that. That's why I am doing this. I grew up with hip hop and love that there are still cats out there staying true to the genre.
Thank you! I had heard of him but hadn't heard any of his music before I started this channel. There are a couple of earlier reactions on my channel if you look back. I think the first time I heard him was on High Plains Anthem.
For some context to one of his bars “Police have got too much power, now they move like a menace Ask Jean Charles De Menezes, in the heavens, the put seven in his head and sent him back to the essence” Jean Charles De Menezes was a young Brazilian who was shot dead during the time of the London terror bombings after being wrongly deemed one of the fugitives involved in the attacks. The police were not charged for the murder.
I like the way you call Jehst the goat, because he is. Not long after this was released, London was rioting. Summed up the mess this country was in. Funny enough it feels were about to hit even worse shit next year. Would be great if he did a sequel for 2023
Epic reaction as always sir! Any chance you will do a big reaction to Mic Righteous's album? Or will you listen to them individually? You're still sleeping on his fire in the booths 😜
Huge fan of this song, but as a Brit it's actually got much worse in London than when this song was released. Albanian coke gangs seem to rule above all.

If you want another gem of social commentary, check out Kae Tempest - Europe Is Lost
Awesome track one of my favourites from Jehst, you should check out 1979 by him, another one of his best imo
Jehst - living legend! Check out Trim - Stereotype
Check out SkinnyMan - Council Estate of Mind
great song wanted to see you react to the version with the footage from the london riots as the video that's the best one imo
For some context to one of his bars
“Police have got too much power, now they move like a menace
Ask Jean Charles De Menezes, in the heavens, the put seven in his head and sent him back to the essence”
Jean Charles De Menezes was a young Brazilian who was shot dead during the time of the London terror bombings after being wrongly deemed one of the fugitives involved in the attacks. The police were not charged for the murder.

Cosmic Gypsies 🙏 Jehst, Chester P, Farma G, Braintax. It's 🔥
You know I am going to catch a lot of hate for this track, right? lol. I will get to it, promise.
@@CanadianDadReacts Why hate?
@@robhughes4682 The whole Braintax stealing everyone's money and disappearing thing.
Mmm yeah doesn't change the quality of his work though. Him, Jehst & Taskforce really started the whole thing.
You definitely need to do more jehst and more Chester p? Check out taskforce aswell 🤛
Jehst and Taskforce are the oldschool gs. People suggested any cult mountain/blah/cult of the damned yet? Also a sick group of artists
I have done a few tracks, but need to get on more.
If you haven't yet check out Res One from Split Prophets.
