Out of thinner leather? Probably, cuts strips as narrow as 3/8”

I bought one for my wife and the width adjustment slides easily after the knurled tightening screw is loosened. Maybe something is binding yours to make is hard to slide.

A draw gauge does the same. I prefer a draw gauge.
