    Reate makes a better gravity utility knife. The lock is where your thumb would be, so you don't have to flip it around to unlock it. Plus, better gravity sounds(the clink and clank)

    I’ve been really interested in buying one of these but I really don’t understand how it’s not illegal here in Canada due to basically being a gravity knife. Maybe that’s why they ship from New York to avoid crossing the boarder and getting them confiscated one by one.

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  8 месяцев назад +3

      Are gravity knives illegal in Canada?
      They used to be illegal here in NY but was overturned a few years ago

    • @HorsepowerHeaven
      @HorsepowerHeaven 8 месяцев назад

      @@ChrispyThings yeah totally illegal. Makes me sad lol I almost want to order this little utility knife and see if it comes in the mail or if the cops "confiscate" it at the boarder. Balisongs, OTFS, gravity knives and basically anything that can open with a smooth action I’d considered illegal here. Some cops may let certain things slide but some are real jerks about it

      High carbon steel utility blades have better blade retention sharpness .

    • @hooXpoo
      @hooXpoo 3 месяца назад

      @@vicpetrishak7705 yep, and they rust like crazy :( in this "modern time" we are still using the same utility knife blades are grand fathers used. I have no problems sharpening a utility knife blade that does not rust the same as I have no problems sharpening a pocket knife blade that does rust. But think of it does your shaving razor blade rust? NO, why? Tell me again we don't have the technology. As with everything it comes down to money, the more you spend the more they make. Even the Lutz blades rust, a box of 100 for 335.00 USD :(

    • @hooXpoo

    • @hondolane3125
      @hondolane3125 29 дней назад

      I've wondered this too. Just spit-balling: Maybe folks are not willing to pay the extra cost, since blades are so cheap and can be replaced it they break, dull or rust. I sharpen if they are not broken, so I would pay a bit more for stainless blades, but I know for a fact I am in a very small minority. Here is a tip for us one-percenters - run your blade across a charged buffing wheel before you install it. The compound is wax based and will leave a good coat of wax that protects the enclosed part of the blade from rust.

    I thunk there’s a greater probability of accidents happening with gravity knives. But, I’m clumsy, so maybe that only applies to me.🤷‍♂️

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  8 месяцев назад +1

      I can see that. For me personally I’ve never had any issues with my gravity knives. I’ve had more issues with folders that have tri-ad locks. I’m so used to one handed closing that when I do it with a tri-ad lock, it cuts me more often than I’d like to admit 😂

    • @georgelin8498

      Should be safer since your hand in not in the path of the moving blade.

      @@georgelin8498 You're probably right. The lock helps to keep it from unlocking your pocket. I don't have a gravity knife, so my experience with them is nonexistent.

      @@ChrispyThings for an everyday carry utility knife at that price, with the holster and the materials used thats not bad. But a utility knife is only as good as the blade. I'd like to see a high end blade. Got any recommendations? For example my edc is a Gerber utility folder and the blade that came with it is thicker than any replacement I've come across. Better tip retention too.
      At $89 for the knife and $116 for the knife and holster, that makes the holster $27. Could easily go for $49. I'd pay 50 bucks easy for my 110 buck knife holster of the same build quality. And be happy 😂

      As someone who lives out of the US. I ordered in Feb, the tool didn’t show up till late August after the May shipment failed somehow. I emailed regarding the failed shipment, they told me that they would try again. I put in a special request to which they replied and acknowledged. When the tool arrived my request was adhered to. When it came time to insert a blade, the blade holder would not fit a blade in it. It took some time with a tiny file to ensure a blade would fit in it. If that was going to be Pichi designs build quality, I figured they might be snowed under with complaints right now. My email detailing the issue has gone unanswered.
