We love our Coleman cabin tent. We never have issues with weather and it's still in perfect condition after ten years. We've camped with it from woods to oceanfront, usually 1-2 weeks at a time.

This is one of the most thorough tent reviews! Didn’t know about the extra weight and size of instant tents - not worth it for saving a few minutes of set-up, at least for me. I was looking to upgrade to a 10 person tent with screen room, and ended up with Core 11-person Cabin tent with screen. Although you didn’t review that tent, some of your general comments helped me make the decision. Thank you!

Oh actually instant tents don't necessarily have extra weight (for example my Outdoor Products Instant 10P is lighter than my Columbia 10P), but the packed size is around 40% bigger. Thank you for this ! Long story short we camp in Daytona Beach Fl, several weeks a year. I'm super picky about our tent between camping for 2-3 weeks straight and FL weather. We've been buying Coleman 8-10p tents every few years for about 15 years now! I know we've had at least 3 if not 4. We love the hinged doors! Our first one was missing a hinge when we opened it. Coleman sent us a whole new set up and only had us send back the tent itself. It was awesome having extra poles rain fly etc.! (It survived baseball size hail in Sturgis SD 2009, with just a few small holes in the original rain fly 🤯) It was almost exactly like the weather tech but an older version and the rain fly came out over the ends better! That's the main reason we haven't tried the weather tech😢. We're due for a new one. I think we'll go with the weather tech even though we prefer the straight walls.... Just a couple of suggestions for this video... 1) I would think should be an easy fix.... If you could leave your ratings up more than a few seconds. I had to keep pausing to get a better look....2) I understand you have to say the full names of the tents, for marketing reasons....but if there's anyway you could edit out some of "....10 person tent"s maybe rate each one on everything separately 🤔? It seemed like you said "10 person tent" 500 times in 20 minutes. It made it kind of hard to process the important things you were saying....Just saying, sorry to be a little critical🤗! Otherwise we really appreciate the content...... LOL,maybe you could use your influence on the Coleman design team to bring back the hinged doors as they're getting hard to find, and extending the rain flies out more past the tent walls a little more would be awesome too! We've learned to be crafty with tarps over the years. But honestly all the manufacturers need to do better with their rain flies. I don't understand how they call something made out the same material as the tent a rain fly when they're barely water resistant 🙄!!! We've tried a couple other brands, that didn't survive a week with light rain😡 Anyway, thanks again for your content, sorry this was so long!!!💕🥰💕🥰

And yeah I did very much like my WeatherMaster, but I guess now I've upgraded my tent set up to the Wawona 😅 And I do appreciate the suggestions on how to improve the video too! 1. I'm definitely trying to improve how long the ratings stay up for! I think my latest video has much better ratings and charts. Sorry about this one! I didn't realize it went by so fast, I was trying to cram all that info into as short a time as possible 😅 2. You're totally right about the full names of the tents too. I've changed that as well! But sadly I can't go back and edit any of the videos that I've published :( Hahahaha aww it means a lot that you think I have influence with Coleman but I really don't! 😅 I tried reaching out to them before to collaborate with them but I didn't even hear back. Surviving heavy rain and wind is the true test of a good tent. Had a really nice tent last month fail in such weather while in nice weather it is a great tent.

But sadly all of these tents aren't the most sturdy in wind because of their hugeeee profiles :( But like you said - in nice weather, they're great tents! Could I ask which tent did you have which failed in bad weather? 😊
@@CampingGuidance I didn’t have any of the ones you previewed. The one I had was nice sized and not straight wall but it failed in heavy rain and wind. If it didn’t have the stupid mesh ceiling it would have stayed much drier.
@@arthurbrumagem3844 Ah I see. Thanks for sharing Arthur! What brand was it though? A lot of tents nowadays come with ceiling mesh (especially the summer camping ones) but so far I've managed to stay reasonably dry. Maybe I've just been lucky hahaha 😂
@@CampingGuidance don’t remember the brand. Glad you have stayed dry though but after my last experience I will never have a tent with all ceiling mesh as even in summer heavy rain and wind will guarantee a miserable night.

As for the Columbia vs WeatherMaster, I'd recommend the Columbia if you have the budget for it. For a good quality 10-person tent, it's actually rather reasonably priced! @@CampingGuidance I was leaning more towards the Columbia to be honest. I had a similar tent like the weather master but it was a Ozark with the same style of tent. It broke on me this past October at joshua tree national park. We were in the middle of a sand storm with winds up to 60 miles a hour so I need a new one. Iam just going to go for the Columbia one thanks again for your help have a good one.

But if you can, I think it's better than the WeatherMaster 😊 Although I wouldn't recommend it for strong winds though, and definitely not 60mph! :( Cabin tents tend not to do very winds though, so I'd keep it away. Just my opinion 😊 I hope this helps!

I have a similar tent to the Core (a KTT one), and set it up solo all the time. It's easy to attach the rain fly. Put the ceiling poles in place to form the roof, then attach the fly before you raise the roof.

Came across your video today and it has been so helpful. Looking to buy a larger tent than the Coleman 4 person dome tent I have. While I like that WeatherMaster 10P I want one with the large full screened door so my dogs and I can lay inside and look out if we want to.My other concern was putting it up by myself since I'm a 59 year old solo female camper. Putting it up yourself for the first time will be difficult, not gonna lie :( It was only after I used mine a few times and had it all worn in that I was able to get it up myself. Maybe an instant tent might be better for you?

Excellent review - logical, informative, thorough. Almost perfect. My only gripe is that you do not allow the statistic screens to linger a little longer (some disappear very quickly requiring you to have to hunt to find and pause it)

We have the Coleman Elite Weathermaster 6 person tent. I have done a detailed step by step vid on how to set it up with one person the easiest. We fit a tall queen size air mattress in it without issue. It was great to see all these tents compared. Great video!

Ozark trail also has a dark rest 10 person tent, that’s the one we have and love it! It’s dark rest and instant setup, both awesome features! Been camping in it for a few years now and with having our 3rd little one we’re thinking of upgrading to the same one but in the 12 person capacity.

Wow.... really excellent work. Great review, I am torn between Coleman Weathermaster 10-Person Tent and the Coleman Instant tent. I really love the concept of a door and instant tents. But I hate getting wet and the coleman didn't look great in the rain. Again outstanding....

It's not an instant cabin tent but has straighter walls offering more useful floor space I think. There are not many tents in stock up here in Canada, I hope the Coleman Hampton Cabin tent is a good buy....cheers!

We love our Coleman cabin tent. We never have issues with weather and it's still in perfect condition after ten years. We've camped with it from woods to oceanfront, usually 1-2 weeks at a time.

This is one of the most thorough tent reviews! Didn’t know about the extra weight and size of instant tents - not worth it for saving a few minutes of set-up, at least for me. I was looking to upgrade to a 10 person tent with screen room, and ended up with Core 11-person Cabin tent with screen. Although you didn’t review that tent, some of your general comments helped me make the decision. Thank you!

Oh actually instant tents don't necessarily have extra weight (for example my Outdoor Products Instant 10P is lighter than my Columbia 10P), but the packed size is around 40% bigger. Thank you for this ! Long story short we camp in Daytona Beach Fl, several weeks a year. I'm super picky about our tent between camping for 2-3 weeks straight and FL weather.
We've been buying Coleman 8-10p tents every few years for about 15 years now! I know we've had at least 3 if not 4. We love the hinged doors! Our first one was missing a hinge when we opened it. Coleman sent us a whole new set up and only had us send back the tent itself. It was awesome having extra poles rain fly etc.! (It survived baseball size hail in Sturgis SD 2009, with just a few small holes in the original rain fly 🤯) It was almost exactly like the weather tech but an older version and the rain fly came out over the ends better! That's the main reason we haven't tried the weather tech😢. We're due for a new one. I think we'll go with the weather tech even though we prefer the straight walls....
Just a couple of suggestions for this video... 1) I would think should be an easy fix.... If you could leave your ratings up more than a few seconds. I had to keep pausing to get a better look....2) I understand you have to say the full names of the tents, for marketing reasons....but if there's anyway you could edit out some of "....10 person tent"s maybe rate each one on everything separately 🤔? It seemed like you said "10 person tent" 500 times in 20 minutes. It made it kind of hard to process the important things you were saying....Just saying, sorry to be a little critical🤗!
Otherwise we really appreciate the content...... LOL,maybe you could use your influence on the Coleman design team to bring back the hinged doors as they're getting hard to find, and extending the rain flies out more past the tent walls a little more would be awesome too!
We've learned to be crafty with tarps over the years. But honestly all the manufacturers need to do better with their rain flies. I don't understand how they call something made out the same material as the tent a rain fly when they're barely water resistant 🙄!!! We've tried a couple other brands, that didn't survive a week with light rain😡

Oh wow it's amazing that a Coleman could survive baseball size hail. That's not something I thought would happen 😅 But I'm really glad! Btw, since you've been using these tents for so many years, could I just ask if you've seen like a decrease in the quality of Coleman tents over the years? A lot of folks complain about that, so I'm wondering if that's true. And yeah I did very much like my WeatherMaster, but I guess now I've upgraded my tent set up to the Wawona 😅
And I do appreciate the suggestions on how to improve the video too! 1. I'm definitely trying to improve how long the ratings stay up for! I think my latest video has much better ratings and charts. Sorry about this one! I didn't realize it went by so fast, I was trying to cram all that info into as short a time as possible 😅 2. You're totally right about the full names of the tents too. I've changed that as well! But sadly I can't go back and edit any of the videos that I've published :(

Surviving heavy rain and wind is the true test of a good tent. Had a really nice tent last month fail in such weather while in nice weather it is a great tent.

But sadly all of these tents aren't the most sturdy in wind because of their hugeeee profiles :( But like you said - in nice weather, they're great tents! Could I ask which tent did you have which failed in bad weather? 😊
@@CampingGuidance I didn’t have any of the ones you previewed. The one I had was nice sized and not straight wall but it failed in heavy rain and wind. If it didn’t have the stupid mesh ceiling it would have stayed much drier.

As for the Columbia vs WeatherMaster, I'd recommend the Columbia if you have the budget for it. For a good quality 10-person tent, it's actually rather reasonably priced! @@CampingGuidance I was leaning more towards the Columbia to be honest. I had a similar tent like the weather master but it was a Ozark with the same style of tent. It broke on me this past October at joshua tree national park. We were in the middle of a sand storm with winds up to 60 miles a hour so I need a new one. Iam just going to go for the Columbia one thanks again for your help have a good one.

But if you can, I think it's better than the WeatherMaster 😊 Although I wouldn't recommend it for strong winds though, and definitely not 60mph! :( Cabin tents tend not to do very winds though, so I'd keep it away. Just my opinion 😊 I hope this helps!

I have a similar tent to the Core (a KTT one), and set it up solo all the time. It's easy to attach the rain fly. Put the ceiling poles in place to form the roof, then attach the fly before you raise the roof.

Came across your video today and it has been so helpful. Looking to buy a larger tent than the Coleman 4 person dome tent I have. While I like that WeatherMaster 10P I want one with the large full screened door so my dogs and I can lay inside and look out if we want to.My other concern was putting it up by myself since I'm a 59 year old solo female camper. Putting it up yourself for the first time will be difficult, not gonna lie :( It was only after I used mine a few times and had it all worn in that I was able to get it up myself. Maybe an instant tent might be better for you?

Excellent review - logical, informative, thorough. Almost perfect. My only gripe is that you do not allow the statistic screens to linger a little longer (some disappear very quickly requiring you to have to hunt to find and pause it)

We have the Coleman Elite Weathermaster 6 person tent. I have done a detailed step by step vid on how to set it up with one person the easiest. We fit a tall queen size air mattress in it without issue. It was great to see all these tents compared. Great video!

Ozark trail also has a dark rest 10 person tent, that’s the one we have and love it! It’s dark rest and instant setup, both awesome features! Been camping in it for a few years now and with having our 3rd little one we’re thinking of upgrading to the same one but in the 12 person capacity.

Wow.... really excellent work. Great review, I am torn between Coleman Weathermaster 10-Person Tent and the Coleman Instant tent. I really love the concept of a door and instant tents. But I hate getting wet and the coleman didn't look great in the rain.

You could get some sealant for the seam between the flooring and tent fabric, and the tent will be able to hold up much better in the rain 😊

Thank you for another great detailed well done video! I just bought the Coleman Hampton 10 person Cabin tent, close to the one you review. It's not an instant cabin tent but has straighter walls offering more useful floor space I think. There are not many tents in stock up here in Canada, I hope the Coleman Hampton Cabin tent is a good buy....cheers!
