The Citi Custom Cash is the gas card of choice for me! You aren’t gonna catch me complaining about 5% back.
I have the USAA card and it is solely my gas card. Yeah the $3000 annual cap is kind of low (that's only $250 per month.) That works for me, but might be too low for some people. A good hedge would be to get a card that has a rotating category of 5% on gas and use that card for the quarter and then the USAA card for the other 9 monts to boost your monthly spend allotment.
I have that card too and it’s underrated especially gas 5%.
If you are already a Sam's Club member their Synchrony Mastercard is a no brainer. It also extends the 5% to EV charging stations.
For two months this year, my Sam's Club card gave 10% cash back on gasoline on a designated weekday.
Discover has a Gas and Restaurant card. 3% on gas and restaurants purchases. Easy to qualify for. No annual fee.
Their discover chrome card offers only 2x on gas or dining & its capped at $1k per quarter which is probably too low for most
The Barclays Wyndham earner Plus visa card and Business card is really good for gas purchases. 6X and 8X points on Gas. I like the Earner Plus better because it includes 4X on groceries and restaurants while the business card doesn’t give that much for groceries or restaurants but it gives you 8X points instead of the 6X points for gas .
biz has 5x utilities, the only other cards offer utility is US Bank Cash +, while many other cards offers grocery and restaurant. Biz also offer annual 15k points. I chose the biz version, but Barclays is not easy to approve biz card.
I just applied for citi custom cash. Low bearing fruit I figure (spend 750 in 3 months get 200 sign on bonus), plus a dedicated 5 percent gas card. Cant lose.
Also Chase FreedomFlex currently has a SUB of 5% on gas for 1 year plus the current rotating category for July-September is 5% on gas as well. Can’t beat 10% on gas plus $200 SUB when u spend $500
As its not a Visa, it can't be used at Costco. Biggest thing holding me back
@@travvas2913 - & that damn 5/24 rule 😠
I have the Blue Cash Preferred because it's so good with the 6% groceries, so 3% gas is reasonable. But I usually fill up at Sam's or Costco so I use my Venture X since the gas is cheaper to start with, and then I get 2% on top of that. (The 5% cards don't work at wholesale clubs.)
Amazing that you have mentioned the PNC card, you really covered some less popular choices!!!
Bank of America's Customized cash rewards credit card (the red one) is a really good one for gas. The customizable category which is the 3% category has gas as one of the options, you can leave it at that for as long as you want. I believe it has a limit of 2,500 per quarter of the year for the 2% and 3% category. And the best part is that you still get the 3% at WHOLESALE CLUBS like the one I buy my gas from, Sam's Club. The customizable category also has online shopping, dining, travel, and a few more option i believe, its a really good card. I heard people had problems with bank of America but I didn't have any problems yet. So far, I really enjoyed this card. Oh and by the way, the 2% category goes for grocery and WHOLESALE CLUBS, and 1% on everything else. And it has no annual fee.
The best gas credit card is whatever card has enough money left on it to get gas
No lies told even if it means a debit card🤣🤣
Glad to see USAA get some love
Freedom flex 5% this quarter plus if you are in first year get an additional 4%
Ah the year gas bonus. Nvm.
blue cash everyday is really good with 3% categories
Gm’s Credit Cards 100 dollar credit statement on 1500 dollars spent, doesn’t get no love Adam lol
FYI groceries at WalMart or Costco don’t count :(
The cash back for the gas is still necessary, even with prices starting to come down!
I know it doesn't work long term for a lot of people unless you have heavy spend, but I love my AMEX business gold and use it for 4X on gas.
Just applied for the abound card; first time I had to prove income so it was slightly more involved than other cards but looking forward to having this as my gas card. It does have a 1% fee for foreign transactions
I use the US Bank altitude connect for gas. 4x on gas and travel. I use it for hotels and rideshare. I put $5 paramount plus charge monthly to earn the $30 streaming credit after 12 months. That brings the effective annual fee to $65. And it has global entry/ TSA pre check credit
This was going to be my comment! At 4x on travel, transit and gas, with no foreign transaction fees, I’m replacing my other travel cards with it.
@@robertjarrell7276 to be clear you don't get 4x on transit (subways, parking lots, etc) but rideshare counts as travel.
@@robertjarrell7276 also it doesn't have any travel protection so I don't book flights on it
I commute 106 miles per work day in either a Mazda 6 or Mazda CX-5. With other stuff I buy at the gas station its just short of $500.00 per month. The Citi Custome Cash is perfect for me.
PNC has great customer service. Bank of American at times can have great promotions if you call in and ask though the hold times can be long.
The AMEX Blue Cash specifically excludes gas stations owned by supermarkets and warehouse clubs even if it codes as gas. The Wells Fargo cards don't do that so would be the better choice if you use a supermarket branded gas station. Speaking from painful experience with the Blue Cash. Likewise the Costco Anywhere Visa excludes supermarket branded gas stations and warehouses (other than Costco) even if it codes as gas. Again from direct experience.
A few other good CU cards for gas:
Andrews FCU
Titanium VS card
3x gas/grocery
1.5x all else
NIH FCU
Travel Rewards VS card
3x gas, dining & travel
Cash Rewards VS card
3x gas, groceries, utilities, & wholesale clubs!
Both of the above CUs offer nationwide open membership
A card I have with US Bank that's not on this video that gives 3% on gas is the Harley Davidson Visa Signature card. They have another version of the Harley Davidson card that gives 5% on gas but there's $99 annual fee.
I had a BLAST with Chase's Freedom Flex during this 2022 Q3. I got 9% cashback on gas since it had the gas rotating category plus it's my first year with the card. Didn't max it out, but definitely got more than I'll probably ever get again.
Not sure how much longer Chase will be doing this setup; Freedom Unlimited does 5% on gas for 12 months for new card members.
Yes 5% Up to $6,000
I have that USAA card with the sharp new redesign as well haha, I love getting 5% back on my gas and it’s perfect for me as I don’t drive a ton as in commuting or anything. My car does take premium though so I definitely love that 5% 😂
is that ur credit card?
Venmo is great for any purchases in Costco.
Incredible video. Thank you for the extensive research
This guy just seems like a nice person. Commenting for the algorithm :)
Hilton surpass is 3.6% 95 dollar fee overall a good card imo
AAA everyday rewards visa has 5% back on gas plus 3% groceries
It's 3% for gas on the AAA card. Unless you're referring to an older version of the card that's no longer available.
@@crackkillspuppiesur smoked bby theres a version each way
@@crackkillspuppiesthere are two different AAA cards. One gives 5% gas and 3% on groceries. The other is swapped 5% on grocery purchases and 3% on gas.
@@davidradtke160this is only for the first calendar year, 1% thereafter!!!
Fort Knox
And (legacy) PenFed Cash Rewards Visa (5%) as statement credit 💕
Make a video of the best hotel and airline cc. I want my next credit card to be one of those type
Great breakdown on cards that could help folks with maximizing benefits
Thank you very useful info. Much appreciated!
EXCELLENT run down! Thanks‼️😃
Just got my navy federal more rewards card 🎉 🔥
For the visas credit cards mentioned here. Do they classify gas at Costco under the gas category?
There’s gas station ones like chevron and mobile
Outstanding video
Do a redstone federal credit union update
Apple Card: 3% back from Exxon Mobil
Don't forget merchant offers statement credit. Chevron offers something (although I usually do Arco).
Great content as always, thanks Adam!!!
Pelicans card got downgraded for new applications: they dropped gas! Starting August 1st the card is 3x dining and 1x everything else ...
Can you do cards that have 0 foreign transaction fee and 0 annual fee, but give you really good rewards. Please
Great info! Thank you!
Abound CU 5% year around!
Credit one 5x platinum has 5 percent gas cashback
Credit One charges $95 annual fee tho. And many people said they had issues with the credit card company.
Hey bud, watch almost all your videos, with this video I think ya missed one :) You included the U.S. Bank Altitude Connect (which I have used alot, and both my Discover cards when that rotating comes around) but for me, I mainly use my U.S. Bank Frys World Elite card (Kroger is the same), take yesterday, I filled up 34 gallons (36 gallon tank) @ $4.35 a gallon, but with my Frys card I paid $3.35 per gallon a single savings of $34 (minimum 12 fill ups yearly and thats $408 minimum :) ) Frys card not only gives gas points for purchases in store, it also gives rewards points for statements credit Etc Etc. and no caps. I have had their card for over 4 years and have saved/pocketed alot. Not disagreeing with you, just that I think you missed one, because it does have the potential for alot more than any other card, if you shop at Frys/Kroger. Have a good day
Great video
Guess what Adam I got a letter synchrony rakuten credit card is being discontinued mid September...my credit history!
BMO Harris enhanced rewards? 3% gas and groceries 5% cell service, ISP streaming up to $2500/quarter no annual fee.
Curious why penfed doesn't stack up? It's one of the better options imo
Confusing points program IMO. A point is worth less than a penny in most instances which makes it hard to easily figure the value of a point. some people feel differently, but that is how i look at it. i have the same issue with amex points even tho lots of people love them.
@@ProudMoney Thanks for the insight, I didn't look into that aspect of it!
Great insight
Yup!
I have the Abound 😎
What about usbank + card
Which cards allow grocery shopping at Costco or BJs to qualify for grocery rewards? I do most of my food shopping at those stores but I’m also looking for a card that has high gas rewards too.
Costco is always considered as Clubhouse category, it never fall into the grocery. Clubhouse pays very little interchange, also the reason why cards don’t normally do that category
@@jinWhuangI think the venmo or PayPal card consider Costco a grocery store for some reason.
You have any recommendations for someone that spends $3500 a month on diesel
Citi Custom Cash will get you a full 5% back on your biggest spend category each billing cycle
@@anandr1385 it sucks that it’s capped out at $500 and then 1% after that
@@ninemm222 Abound CU 5% with no cap
quick question. is gas stations part of the rotating categories for the 5% cash back of us bank?
No
My credit union coastal credit union offers 3X on gas in their highest end card. No AF and no FT
How do you cancel a credit card that your in good stand with. Without hurting your credit score
Why do you want to cancel the credit card?
You don’t, you keep the card, cut it up and never use it again. And your credit doesn’t get hit.
If you don’t use some cards they will close it on you. Walmart did this to me
If your card is paid off, and in good standing, it will no affect you negatively, and will report good standing for 10 years… However it may reduce your average life of credit if it’s one of your oldest cards
UMB is a lousy company. They are known for cancelling cards for no reason.
I spend about $20 to $30 on gas per month, with 5% I’d earn $1.50. I can do big things with that.
LOL. You can almost buy a soda at a gas station you gas up at!
Ducks unlimited for me
Are walmart and sams considered groceries?
I believe UMB Simply rewards is the only one giving 3% on discount stores!
Not for Blue cash card
My comment keeps getting booted or deleted. Just trying to say link your five percent category card to pay pal during that rotation to pay at pump
First! And keep the content coming!
🏆🏆🏆
What about the new Wells Autograph card?
1:43 ..?
@@Tulku oh sorry I missed that
This economic recession is going to be big and everyone needs to prepare before getting hit...... a fellow creator......
Can't you just do 2 minute video telling the best card?
I guess you answered your own question.
