  • In this video I share some of the amazing photos from the Bucks Herald archive. I start right at the beginning and show the site before development and trace the club's historic matches and events throughout their time at Buckingham Road.

loved seeing picture of Cliff Hercules again. Our marriage breakfast was at the club house (12.1988) as it could seat over 100. Arrived in horse and carriage, scare was that if Aylesbury got further in FA Cup, they would play at home that Saturday rather than away as planned! Took my children later to watch Aylesbury at Buckingham behind the goal

Nice video, thanks for posting. Such a short life of a very good stadium. Now houses... what a waste (( Bring the Ducks back to Aylesbury!

I thought it was much older than that! It might be my memory, but Saturday mornings were always cold there! Great video.

    I remember it well .
Back in the old days we used to do that long walk in the rain to Turnfurlong before this site was developed .
Could get a few pints in the jockey after games also .
The last time I visited Aylesbury I was quite sad to see it all changed .

Thanks for sharing, this is great. Was away on a school trip when they played England, my sister got me the autographs also saw the Ducks play in the FA Cup there which was on match of day highlights. The great Cliff Hercules lived on Bedgrove near out school, great memories of the cup run to QPR at Loftus Road and pretty sure I went to the final match at the old ground (Turnfurlong was it?) before they moved to Buckingham Road. Sad to hear the ground has been knocked down.

Just what Aylesbury needs is some more houses which will go well with the thousands of others built over the last decade. For what was the senior club in Aylesbury to be plying their trade in Chesham is a disgrace and the former AVDC councillors who done nothing to stop this club leaving Aylesbury should hold their heads in shame. Fat chance.

It would be nice to see the Ducks come home at some point...maybe before the 2040s? I wonder what happened to the Friar's Square Duck, was it rescued? Is it stored somewhere waiting for a new AUFC stadium?

I agree. I'm not a football fan but think that the town should have a team at home. It's crazy. We are the county town. As for the duck, I don't know what happened to it. I thought it was over at Cottesloe Road but that is a different one. I did find a photo of it from 2003 at the AUFC stadium where they had taken it down and left it on the ground by a fence. It looked in a sorry state then.
