you are seriously the most real, honest beauty vlogger. seriously amazing and so so helpful. you're honestly trying to help people with your tips and tricks. you are not talking just to talk or reviewing products just to create videos. you are professional and i adore you! Thank you for being who you are.
I am out of words to explain how happy I am with this video, great job explaining and making it easy for us to understand the art of mixing foundations. I have a foundation that is my shade but wrong undertone (I have a yellow undertone with fair skin) and whenever I use this specific foundation it almost looks dark on me but I know its because its too pink so I thought I would buy yellow drops to customize: wrong!!!! Didn't matter how little of the yellow I applied it was too much, I seriously wasted too much foundation trying to get the shade right.. and here you are Marlene, you finally explained that I don't need the yellow tone I need the kaki shade to mix I my foundation. Thank you so much for your hard work, and please, please keep up with this kid of videos. XOXO Hazzel
Also the L.A girl pro foundation in white is an amazing mixer for lightening ur foundation! It does not change the consistency or compramise the formula. I love it!!
I Tried it and it did change the formula. No foundation lasted when I used the white foundation and I always had horrible makeup days 😅 I used it with Teint Idole mostly which is a formula I love.
i really love the type of information you share. in the youtube world, youtubers let go of the basics often. You give such amazing advice and tutorials and i always recommend your videos to my clients. you go girl!!!
Marlena...you should sell that eye shadow stand sitting behind of you as a holiday collection type thing.....or offer the entire collection of MUG shadows with a little discount because I would happily buy either. :) Great video. Love this series. 😍
Thank you Marlena! I've been mixing foundations for decades to get the right shade for my skin tone. I must say that the makeup companies have come a long way in being inclusive of the different ethnicities. Now I mainly need to mix foundations in the summer due to a tan.
These were really great tips, I just can't help but feel like this would have been a really good video to talk about lightening/darkening your foundation for people that are lighter/darker than what is available in store. Like I'm super pale, so I have to use white mixers and I feel like there are a lot women of color that are darker than what is in Sephora.. and idk I just feel like that would have been good info in this, but overall really informative and good!
Marlena these are my favorite types of videos from you! No one does them like this. So hopeful and informative. More please!!! How to match blush to eye looks and how to match blush to your skin tone, and placement please🙋🏻
those mixers are awesome! I always have so much trouble finding olive tone foundation's. and I've recently been mixing two shades with my moisturizer to get the perfect shade and finish, but on the back of my hand...now I feel extra smart since Marlena posted it as a tip. 😃
I usually use an old CD to mix foundations or any liquids in general and I love the Nyx mixers they have white Olive warm dark luminous and pearl colors and finishes it's an essential for every artist
This was helpful and genuine. Always have to refer back to Marlena for ACTUAL makeup tips. Instagram makeup is a drop from me. Did it for too long. Too unrealistic. Marlena is an actual expert and she KNOWS what she is talking abiut, accomodating to everyone. This was a really helpful video, especially for me, being South Asian. Our undertone is very Olivey-Yellow and absolutely NO foundation matches right. Flash photos are a horror trip for us, because you can see the clear difference in foundation to the skin. Nothing ever Matches. It'll look like a mask. Either too white, pink, or yellow or dark. So this was great!!! Thanks Marlene! xxx
kim mcdonald me too! It has been in the works for such a long time now. I get it though. I'd rather they take their time and launch a great product than rush a subpar one. It's just that when I saw the video I thought they were finally launching!
Thank you!!! I use only drugstore foundation so it's hard to find the right undertone for me. They always look very pink on me. Now I know how to get my perfect undertone!
Geli B try No7 foundations! Only drugstore foundation that doesn't turn orange/pink on me. They oxidize a slight bit about a shade darker but not orange or pink. Stay perfect is my new fave. Looks so natural and stays all day
Shades match is always my problem I have a very olive under tone with super Oily skin & it's bad enough most makeup brand forget about us African Americans so either it's to yellow or to red but now you showed the olive custom drops I need to buy that immediately thanks so much that's why I stay loyal to the very first RUclips I ever watched and trusted😘
I really miss your OOTD and healthy lifestyle videos. I loved all your tips and tricks to weightloss and loved the way you styled your outfits. I would love to see some in the future.
This video was so helpful! Thank you so much Marlena! I am slowly learning all the neat tricks n tips for makeup and this was definitely one of my favs. Please keep up the great work and thanks for making all these videos for us despite your crazy/busy schedule!
Thank you Marlena! You have helped me understand my undertone so much better than I did before. Keep up the good work and all your makeup products are wonderful.
Thanks a lot Marlena. I always learn from you in a very light and fun way. Something that is still difficult for me is how to identify the undertones of blushes... Kisses and hugs!
Thank you beautiful for the great advice. I am sure you get asked this a lot but will you be producing your own foundation line? You and the lovely Mr Goss understand make-up to the core. And I know I am not alone when I say that I respect and trust your opinions when it comes to brands and make up. Much love and kind hugs:)xxx
Yay it's Marlena!! Always great to see you! Yes this is helpful - and different too, so it's super interesting and fun!. I mix my foundations ALL THE TIME - generally for a custom finish...
Marlena! You are so fun to watch! I love your personality, it translates well on camera! Simply meaning the camera loves you and your audience is able to connect with you. Nicely done. Anyway, thank you for the tips. I had no idea. I’m still trying to find the best makeup routine for me without feeling like I just put spackle on my face. Ha!😂
and ive never been one to spend much on makeup but Ive been collecting MUG shadows like a crazy person ... so im drooling seeing that display in the back. id die!
THANK YOU Marlena for your educating videos! I appreciate them more than you can imagine! I have and still struggle with finding the correct tone in foundations, and I think this will help!
So happy to see you back on RUclips, missed you a lot. I was wondering how to colour correct the redness from flare ups for your foundation? Thank you so much 😊
i love marlena and ive had to mix foundations for years and admit ive never had one match exactly except when im tanner in summer. im pale most yr round
I loved this video, thank you, Marlena!! What do girls like me do who are always the lightest shade in foundation and concealer (which can often be too dark)? Thank you!!!
white mixers! I haven't found one I like yet (I mean tbh I've only tested one but I'm making it a mission to try more), but I know LA girl, illamasqua, NYX and other brands are doing it. Basically, it's white foundation that you mix in with your regular foundation and then it's lighter. I think the trick is finding one that is the same type of finish as your foundation (like mine at the moment is way too dry so I'm mixing foundation, oil and the white, which is a bit of a hassle). I would check out Thataylaa here on youtube, she has a video all about this subject which is really informative and helpful xx
You should check out Thataylaa. She has lots of videos for those of us with fair skin. She tries out lots of different foundations and has videos on foundation mixers.
Highly helpful. I was looking for a vedio which will teach me how to make desired colour foundation for ur client. I got lil idea. Also one question, what finish foundation of what undertone u used to make it in another specific undertone? Kindly tell!
Really love this video! Very informative! 👏🏼 I always have to mix my foundation because they are to light or the wrong under tone ::::: but I have 2 questions 1) when I have a lighter foundation should I always use the same brand or formula? For example, can I mix a mousse foundation with a more liquid one? And 2) how can I turn a foundation more warm (yellow undertone)? Should I use straight yellow pigment?
Aside from the MUD liquid drops, what other products would you suggest for adjusting the undertone of a foundation. I have really yellow undertone and a lot of drugstore foundations are too pink on me
I absolutely adore you and your videos! I understand how hard it is to run a business and I love that education is such a major focus for you. You really are an inspiration so keep doing what you are doing! Also side note.. I really love your purple holographic nails 😆
Are you still thinking of opening a store in Sacramento??!! I've been waiting for ever! I know you decided to open a store somewhere else, but Sacramento/California wants Makeup Geek here.
Great video, Marlena...always super to see you with these instructional guides! Love your hair, too...looks terrific! Keep on doin what you do! Hugs from Florida
Marlena, PLEASE do a makeup routine/tutorial for us powder foundation girls who cringe at the thought of putting liquid foundation all over their face!! Do we spot treat with concealer before or after the powder foundation? What type of concealer to use with powder foundation? How to contour etc. without taking off all the concealer/foundation we just put on and revealing redness...
Hi!! Just watching this. Very helpful. Question though, say my foundation is too pink or too yellow and I’m a neutral undertone. What MUD drop would you recommend to take the foundation neutral?
Great tips, here. Thank you, Marlena! Here's a question regarding color matching foundation. (It may be one of those "stupid questions," but it's been rattling around in my head since last night, regardless.) My face, neck and chest are three slightly different colors, with the most difference being between my neck and my face. SO, when color matching, it doesn't make sense to match my face with a foundation. It makes the most sense to match my chest, since that's more visible than my neck. Does this make sense to you or anyone else? I'd appreciate any suggestions! Thanks in advance.
I like a "pore less primer" to mix in with my photo ready foundations. Also I Avoid my nose as much as I can with the foundation . Living in Las Vegas I have to wear shades or glasses and by the time I even step into my car. My nose melts off onto my nice sunglasses . Any tips or tricks?
extra setting powder right where your sunglasses sit on your nose. and then I put setting powder on my glasses where it sits on my nose. yes girl, I live in Vegas too 😊
Marlena....could you put a link somewhere to the mixing mediums that you used in this video. I attempted to find them under makeup designory, but they had no products like the ones that you used.

Who else thought she was already wearing foundation at the beginning? ✋🏼 #shedoesntneedit
Sarah D me
Sarah D she have beautiful skin. It is perfect :)
I think that' because she just got a spray tan. makes your skin look more flawless than it acutally is. although she's always had great skin.
Sarah D Yeah, I was really surprised when I realised she wasn't.. I actually thought she looked extra supercute without foundation 😘
Sarah D she probably had a bit on already and just put more on.

✨I'm loving your more minimal makeup looks & you look fabulous without any foundation✨. Pretty as always 💐
I can't stop looking at the eyeshadows stand behind you!!!!!

Thank you so much for this video. It was so HELPFUL. I especially liked how you customized the foundation according to undertones. 👍🏾
Thank you for this info Marlena! I never knew the meaning/purpose of the finishes!

Very informative...you can never know too much about foundation. Excellent video
Aside from the MUD liquid drops, what other products would you suggest for adjusting the undertone of a foundation. I have really yellow undertone and a lot of drugstore foundations are too pink on me
I love your education videos!!

Ashes are beautiful
Hi Marlena, what's recommended to add to an foundation that is already dewy but wish for it to be more matte or satin? thanks
I use a small shallow ceramic fruit bowl with a small spread knife used for spreading butter or jams.
I absolutely adore you and your videos! I understand how hard it is to run a business and I love that education is such a major focus for you. You really are an inspiration so keep doing what you are doing! Also side note.. I really love your purple holographic nails 😆

I just ❤️ the way you laugh...it's like, infectious!! 😂

franklingirl23 Always finish your liquids before using powders. 😊
franklingirl23 To blend anything over foundation just tap and roll gently with your beauty blender or sponge of choice 😊 good luck and God bless
Great tips! Thx Marlena!
Hi!! Just watching this. Very helpful. Question though, say my foundation is too pink or too yellow and I’m a neutral undertone. What MUD drop would you recommend to take the foundation neutral?
Definetly going to be trying this thank you.
I can't wait for your foundation to come out but this was truly a really great video 💯💯💕💕💕💕
I just found this video and I have learned so much! U r a make up 👼
Awesome tips. BTW your nails look gorgeous. What is the color?
Great tips, here. Thank you, Marlena! Here's a question regarding color matching foundation. Thanks for the correcting drops😍 very usefull
Marlene what products did you use to mix with and where can I purchase them? Rita
The red coloring made the found look warmer than cooler
I like a "pore less primer" to mix in with my photo ready foundations. Also I Avoid my nose as much as I can with the foundation . Living in Las Vegas I have to wear shades or glasses and by the time I even step into my car. My nose melts off onto my nice sunglasses . Any tips or tricks?
Gabriel Lopez i use eyeshadow base on my nose to help it stay in place, works great for me 👌🏻
extra setting powder right where your sunglasses sit on your nose. and then I put setting powder on my glasses where it sits on my nose. yes girl, I live in Vegas too 😊
I just love your personality you truly seem like a genuine sweetheart ❤️♥️❤️♥️
This video was so helpful I loved it please do more so easy to learn :)
Marlena....could you put a link somewhere to the mixing mediums that you used in this video. I attempted to find them under makeup designory, but they had no products like the ones that you used.
