Honestly that's probably how the game calculates it. Not analogous to real life though.

Suggestions:
1. Sea launched gliders, launched from a separate speedboat
2. Tower attack game where each player builds a tower with a explosive launching catapult that protects a explosive tower hearth and the last player standing wins
3. Glider canyon run, furthest or trough wins

Multiplayer Monday Suggestion: Do a toilet launching contest based on distance, height, and battle. For distance, well put a line and who ever gets farther wins that match. Height is launching up. Battle is placing 4 Bombs on the sides of your launcher. Battle can be put in multiple rounds. Launch your toilet into others exploding their bombs. Please choose this suggestion. Reason: It's Really Random.
Today, they throw cars off cliffs successfully.

challenge idea for next multiplayer monday: build a 7 by 7 by 7 car and then randomly select 3 challenges you did in the past. the idea is that you have limited space to make the most versatile car possible. thrusters are allowed with no limit for challenges such as wall climbing or flight.

Make a beyblade battle.
( 4 or 2 thrusters for spinning, 4 thrusters on low thrust for movement and made out of cardboard and 8 spikes) or you could do a base review with them.

Technically adding bombs would improve the glider. The more weight there is in the front the lower it swoops, the lower it swoops the higher it rises. The higher it rises, the longer the distance you travel. It isn't because Scrap Mechanic has weird physics, it's literally because Scrap Mechanic has some somewhat realistic physics.
So, according to actual real physics, that's not really how it works. The additional weight is going to slow max ground speed and thus takeoff speed and since that's the only energy input it's going to result in overall less flight time. Additional drag will reduce in-flight speed as well, though to a lesser extent because of the drag-reducer block. Swooping is less efficient as well; the most efficient flight path after takeoff would be level flight. Any deflection of the control surfaces necessarily incurs drag penalties, and any higher or lower angle of attack will do the same.
That said, I have no idea how much of that applies to SM physics, but even so I think he just got a particularly good launch.

MM idea: spudgun powered boats in survival. In dev mod, the mountable spudgun is available without the potato containers. You can get deacent spead with 10 of them, on repeating logic.
Max 20 spudguns, no thrusters, or glitches, turning is spudgun as well.
MM Idea:
Egg drop challenge. Try to make a contraption that will safely land the "egg" (explosive) on the ground.
Kan- "next week I'm putting an explosive on the front of my car"
*next week* "this week on MM we're building bumper cars"
This video reminds me of Flint Lockwood's flying car from the movie "cloudy with a chance of meatballs".
This was a fun challenge. Do it again in trailmakers!

I have 2 suggestions.
1) I love Punkin Chunkin, but I can watch it anymore.
The goal is to load a ball (ball is whatever heavy metal) by yourself into your machine with a hammer, then launch it from your machine! Farthest distance wins!
2) I love Rocket League too! Let's play some soccer!
Make a ball (some heavy metal wrapping a air bubble core) and make some goals, and some side walls, or dome. 1v1, 2v2, 4-way! Most goals at the end of time, wins!
This is what every kid thought they could do if the open and close the car doors quickly.

Triple spud gun powered glider. With explosive cargo... Battle race. Get your cargo to the delivery point through a flying obstacle course. Use some destructible parts on ailerons.
You should do the challenge in a game with actual aerodynamics. Normally more wings lead to more lift but with the cost of more drag but since sm uses a constant drag value you can build an almost endless good glider by just attaching more wings to it.
Helicopter competition would be cool. First to fly the highest in 5 seconds or something
Kan mentioned that he is putting an explosive on the front of his vehicle at the end of the video, can we troll him by doing some sort of block pushing event? or trying to make it through a wall challenge? :)

Another Aerial challenge: Combat drop a fragile container. Like a stack of explosives on a palette. You need to design both the plane, and a parachute of some kind.

Hey scrapman you could do a multiplayer survival series were you, squiddy, kan, and moonbo randomized negative effect for every episode. For example, you wouldn’t be able to have potatoes in you inventory, squiddy wouldn’t be able to brake blocks, kan wouldn’t be able to move, and moonbo wouldn’t be able to use the connection tool.
Those are just some suggestions

How's this for a suggestion... get ALL the guys you can (Scrapman, kAN, Moonbo, Camodo, Kosmo, Squiddy, jOhnbane, and anyone else who can join) into a Survival world (with dev commands so that you've got unlimited inventory, 'cos you'll need it), and pick one of the players to survive being hunted by everyone else. You may have to get a mod that allows for chemical guns or something...

I had a great idea so you know how you did the tron bikes I think you should make tron planes and play with that it's so fun in the sky so you start on the ground and as soon as your in the sky you start (in trailmakers)
Quad bike challenge you must build a tiny quad bike the seat must be the highest point and 8 by 10 size limit then race them with and without trailers

You should do a try not to die flying, where somone is shooting at the explosive on the glider/plane trying to shoot them down and whoever last longer wins.
