The BIG GAME. If all the musicians in the history of mankind had to pick one musician to get up on the stage and explain to the next world how music is done, they are handing the microphone to Elvis Presley. This man had more musical ability from his toes to the top of his head than anyone else.
His ability to end a song big is still unmatched.
With Presley, every syllable of every word matters to a song. He pays attention to every sound behind him.
His concentration on stage, his God crafted baritone vocals and his charisma on stage in unison, allows all of these incredible harmonies.

Unsurpassed, totally unique, the greatest, never ever will we see an artist like him again. You can analyze him to bits and pieces. He was a «tabula rasa», a canvas everyone could paint their own picture on. Loved from Iceland to Timbuktu to this day. When he died, it was like being hit with a sledgehammer.

I was only 2 when he passed away but I remember my mom having a crushing sadness feeling about it. I had no real idea what was going on, but I honestly remember that feeling of sadness. The more I grew up and understood about Elvis, the more I unsertsoof what it must've been like when he passed.

This is just greatness feeding off greatness. Elvis inspired the band just as the band inspired Elvis. You can tell here. It’s been said that a musician in the orchestra (I’m sorry I don’t remember the name) referenced this exact performance (in addition to the rehearsal concert) an example of Elvis firing up the band with both his performance and his response to the band. You can tell the appreciation of both, the band and Elvis. Now, the rhythm section, vocalists, ans orchestra were all top notch and as good as any in the business at the time. But, it was just greatness feeding off greatness. Great reaction and interaction.

Ditto ☝️!! I still get misty eyed at the ending and building to that crescendo. As he’s looking back at his band. Only with his eyes is he encouraging them to give him one more chorus. Because just with his eyes alone, he is letting his band know he is fixing to turn around and lift the roof off that place.

Reading what you said about Yeah Baby brought back that great memory of seeing him say Yeah Baby @ end of "What Now My Love" -- it gave me chills. It happens to be for the rehearsal show, which many people say they do not prefer over the live show but I think it shouldn't be overlooked -- the emotion he put into that song for he rehearsal version is amazing, particularly the last few lines to end the song.. There are 2 versions -- one by Vevo which covers him up @ end w-those d--- "ads" when he says Yea Baby, which is inconsiderate. If you're interested in seeing this rehearsal version w-no ads go to ruclips.net/video/UpjKlOM7KQ4/видео.html. Thanks.

I have been a fan since 1956 and heard him sing everything from gospel to opera. Few people know he was executive producer of all his music and hand picked the wonderful artist that backed him up. BACKGROUND INFO on THAT RAMP from the STAGE: Producer/director Marty Pasetta told Parker (Elvis' manager) that he wanted to build a ramp for Elvis to walk out onto & Parker said no. Pasetta explained that it would be 8 ft. wide & Elvis could stay in the middle or go to the left or to the right if he wanted to because Pasetta knew how important the audience was to Elvis, Parker still said no. Fortunately, Pasetta was able to meet w-Elvis & he explained exactly what he told Parker. Fortunately again, Elvis overrode Parker & told Pasetta to build the ramp. Paseta told Elvis he wanted him to lose 25 lbs., which Elvis did. Elvis then hugged Pasetta & said you are one of the few people who has been totally honest w-me. Without that ramp the concert would have been very different if Elvis did not have the option to get in close touch w-the audience. This concert was a benefit to raise money for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund & raised $75,000. Elvis bought his own ticket for $1,000. & did not make any money from it. The approximate amount of people in the audience was about 8,800. There is also the rehearsal version which is very good at ruclips.net/video/u8L4ZZ1fweE/видео.html.
Not sure what you meant about screaming at the horn players & getting rlled up -- he wasn't screaming or yelling at anyone -- it's Elvis feeling the music so intently that he becomes extremely emotional & passionate. He's about the only singer i'm aware of who sang from his soul & his gut like no other & that was just one of the things that made him so unique & special. I believe you're reading him incorrectly -- he absolutely "knew" about it. Thank you.
I'm not sure if you know what the trilogy is -- in case you don't -- it's a medley of three uniquely American pieces: “Dixie,” (dixie are the states down south in the U.S.); “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” a marching hymn of the Union Army during the American Civil War; and “All My Trials,” a Bahamian (people of the Bahamas) lullaby related to African American spirituals sung by protesting folksingers of the 1950s.

    Thanks for your reaction.
Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, in a 2 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory.
Elvis always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather, Jesse Dunning Presley, was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. J.D. Presley was quite the racist a-hole, often drunk and a philandering husband to Minnie Mae (they were actually separated long before they finally divorced in 1954) who was always competing with his sons Vester and Vernon and who was known to abuse his kids when drunk. J.D. was was publicly against race mixing and was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. It was more publicly known that the Smith family had Native blood in their family tree, so when both his sons fell for 2 Smith sisters and Vernon, on top of that, was still a minor at 17 when he eloped with Gladys who was 4 years older than him, Jesse was totally pissed off.
As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis (ruclips.net/video/LrFCyNMvZWk/видео.html). One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.

Anyone that’s watched this intense songs know he talks and uses his hand ,feet expressions to get the most out of his show. He’s telling the orchestra he likes what they are doing and sound even louder. He always appreciated his singers, band, orchestra and background singers. I can’t believe that in 2024 people still find him simply amazing. This is one of his most heart felt songs and especially from southerners. He’s not screaming for them to do better but you’re doing great so louder.

The performance of Elvis in Aloha from Hawaii was a huge global event - one of the first of its kind by satellite at the time in January 1973 and he did exceptionally well and looked amazing like he always did, very professional and gave 200% to his performances. Alas I recall at the time the bbc didn’t bother to buy it and see its significance to show it in the U.K. and we didn’t see it until when he passed when the bbc bought it and showed parts of it on the news of his death and after 5 times only on bbc. Have seen it a few times on Sky Arts TG. Elvis will always be the biggest entertainer of the 20th Century and luckily did quite a few performances in Vegas which have been documented but not enough. No filming was allowed sadly but snippets coming through.

I'm going to throw out a couple of suggestions: from his '68 special stand-up segment -- (1) "Blue Suede Shoes" from sitting to center stage ruclips.net/video/Ak5KEbi8Nac/видео.html w-a cute finish & looking more gorgeous than ever; & (2) "Jailhouse Rock" ruclips.net/video/87N6Qa0D7KY/видео.html -- you could do one followed by the other because both together total just 4 min. This is Elvis unleashed doing what he did best.
The water throwing incident 1972 at Hampton Roads, Virginia when at the very, very start of the video Elvis called out “Please Release Me” but the band began playing “I Can’t Stop Loving You” - he didn’t stop them, he went right into the song, he then walked over to his glass of water, picked it up & playfully threw it at Glen @ piano -- a fun, energetic, powerhouse ruclips.net/video/LNtP5Gd8QGE/видео.html -- just make sure you hear him say Please Release Me & then the water throwing will make sense. Also note his little irritated look @ beginning. His voice here was a bit deeper & richer. Try to let it roll straight through to appreciate that performance & the cute little thing he does @ end. Thanks.
