    There are so many people who think "I'm in college, so I don't have enough experience to write anything."
    Taking this leap and doing it for yourself because you want to find your voice and learn. That's a type of perseverance that everyone could learn from. Thank you, Zoe!

    You'd love the writing program Scrivener. It's super organized! Welcome to the world of writing. Making Pinterest boards, visiting baby name sites, browsing Twitter and social media while you are writing, and being distracted constantly are all NATURAL. Trust me ;) Good for you to branching out. I hope it will be a fun and unique experience for you! I do Camp and regular every year.

    This was so much fun to watch! I love how relatable your experiences in this vlog are. Even though I've never tried writing a novel before, the struggles you have with getting distracted, feeling (un)inspired, etc are something that I relate to so much!

    these vlogs were so fun to watch!! it's always so interesting to hear other people's writing processes.
    I have the same bad habit of under-describing things and how I sometimes try and combat it is if I am trying to describe a specific place (like an apartment or something) I'll take out a notebook and write ONLY about what the place looks like/feels like and then I'll try and interweave it into the story. It's super tedious but it's legit the only way I can get myself to properly describe anything lol

    I feel like when it comes to description play with two senses. like if it's a hospital room you can say it smells like bleach and the floors are scrubbed clean like they're trying to hide a recent sickness and add adjectives depending on the tone. that way you get a feeling and a description of the room without too much imagery

    Hahaha baby naming websites are literally the best. And I totally know what you mean about not having to say a book is diverse, they just should be!! it shouldn't be a thing because the world should be perfect but it should be because things are not perfect, y'know?
    Have you ever thought about writing plays or something because of how you like dialogue? I have the opposite problem, I LOVE description and love writing it!

    You should talk about your music taste/what you listen to when you write!!!

  • @jennifercahill7397
    @jennifercahill7397 8 лет назад

    OK, description---figure out the main things you want to describe and then drop hints of it if you don't want to be overkill. Like, say, the bathroom you were describing.
    Example: She stepped into the well-lit bathroom, her heels clicking on the teal tiled floor. To her right was a glorious claw-foot tub that she enjoyed reading in at night. On the other side of the room was a cabinet with a built-in sink, the counter filled with a jumble of makeup products and toiletries. She surveyed the mess for a long moment before going over to retrieve her tube of black mascara. Just what she'd been looking for.
    Not too heavy on description yet enough of a picture to imagine the setting. Everyone knows bathrooms will have toilets but a claw-foot tub and messy sink/cabinet can be unique in your typical bathroom setting, as well as the floor type, lighting, walls. Focus on the main things you want your reader to see. Hope that helps. Not an expert but I have been writing for a long time and this has helped me.
