- Today I share my NaNoWriMo survival kit! NaNoWriMo is a very dangerous event, so try really hard to survive it. 4 out of 5 doctors recommend not dying. That 5th one is an asshole.

My kit:
- laptop (duh...I'm not a peasant either)
- notebooks (I sometimes pretend to be a peasant for...research)
- lots of pens and pencils and highlighters
- pillows
- my comfy hoodie that's a million sizes too big
- glow sticks for some reason
- storyboard on Pinterest
- noveling playlist
- hot chocolate and herbal tea (sorry! no caffeine for me!!!)
- usb drive yes yes
- chocolate...candy
- planner
- writing quotes, inspirational quotes
- lamp
- alternative light source..aka window
- sharpies
- camera
- fuzzy socks
- a good book for breaks
- netflix....(guiltyness)
Our trip to Yellowstone just happened to coincide with Camp NaNoWriMo in July so believe it or not I took it all with me a Nano'd in the dark in a tent as well as in the car on the way there. Ah, good times.

Whenever I see office supplies at a store I tend to look and touch most of the notebooks. Even if I really dont need anything I always want to buy another notebook. O_O
I went into walmart to get some olive oil and came home with nine notebooks.

For anybody concerned about losing data use Google Drive. Coupled with the Chrome app for it, it allows you to access and edit all your documents from anywhere which has an internet connection, and also keeps a copy for itself for when you have no internet access. Never lose a single piece of information again, and never be unable to work on your documents.
I'm a peasant and proud.
I curl up with my $1 pen, a stack of random lined paper and a notebook. I write everything down and type it when I'm rewriting/editing.

I strictly use google drive to write. It auto-saves every word and I really need that. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose my novel because I forgot to save

I had the same survival kit when I was writting my thesis LOLOL apparently writting makes us all equally crazy... equally super-tired... equally addicted to candy (and, of course, office supplies)...

Only down side to a flashdrive is when you lose it. My teacher had his story on it, and he lost it last school year.

Came across this video again and had to rewatch it. I actually lost my first NaNoWriMo novel because I lost the flash drive and never saved it on my computer so now I am obsessive when it comes to backing up my work.
I have over 40 composition books, all having at least 1 story (most have more) and thousands of doodles.
Not a fan of punishment so I don't think I could do Write or Die. I'm a fan of rewards. I use writtenkitten. After however many words you set it for you'll get a new picture of a kitten. Though, that did result in a race of psychic kittens being written into last year's nano novel . . .
I'll never get to experience falling. You're supposed to write what you know, and now I don't know what it's like to fall while trapped in a snuggie. There goes the primary conflict of my story.
One of my key survival things is pistachios. You know it's NaNoWriMo time when there are lots of pistachio shells on my desk

I discovered that the best writing candy is Mike and Ike's last November. It's not sticky or messy, so you can keep on eating them while you write. :) I wasn't even a Mike and Ike's fan, and I still won't eat them if it's not NaNoWriMo, but still...
I ALSO HAVE A STRANGE ATTACHMENT TO OFFICE SUPPLIES! I hoard black ink pens in my purse..
During my novel I lost four chapters that had about 8,000 words in them and a really good plot twist. But instead of rewriting them changed my plot and hurt some hearts... wow.... I'm a great person.
I was looking for fantasy writing tips on youtube, and then I found a girl who has exactly that, also a bookshelf that makes my heart ache out of jealousy (seriously though, how can you afford all those?! library girl forever..), and she freaking. writes. nanowrimo. And then, as if that wasn't enough, she takes out her phone and has the same case as me. I'm gonna fangirl over you. That case is a winner though, the teachers' well trained spot-the-phone-eyes miss it every time!
I love that you stress the importance of candy and caffeine to life, more than food.
I'm doing my own NaNoWriMo in june starting tomorrow becasue i don't have school and I'm traveling during Camp NAnoWriMo. your videos are helping.
1. Watching your blogs, they just keep me going through November. Sorry if that's weird. 2. Relentless, just like red bull, it gives you wings! 3. Coffee (of course). 4. Pens and lots of pads, all writers love these 2 things And 5. Silence, well no other people around me, I mean. Oh and @nanosprints on twitter, especially if you have writers block! +Ruff Cole When she said her friends say, "Why do you have so many blank notebooks, Kat?" "They will stay blank FOREVERRRR!", I felt immediate shame. Every few months I ask my mom to buy me three to five notebooks and I plan on using them all for something different. I write a couple pages in each. I abandon them. And now I treasure them.

They make hot chocolate with added caffeine! I'm not a big coffee drinker, except cold drinks, so I drink that instead because it's too cold in my house for frappes and stuff like that.

My laptop crashed two years ago and I couldnt open it. I freaked out, thinking I had lost all my writing. Thank god, we god the hard drive out and managed to save everything :) BUt the horror of just thinking that everything was gone... GAHHHH

One of my subscribers recently told me about NaNoWriMo and told me to check out your channel..so here I am really wanting to do NaNoWriMo but freaking out because well it's scary but I have to at least try it out and do my best :D
This past year I had 3 different computers commit suicide 2 of which were young enough to be considered new but old enough not to be in warranty #1 was 2 years old. The 1st 2 I had been saving but didn't have a flash drive and all my files were lost. I lost 17,000 words the 1st time then I worked my butt off for the next two months and got up to 30,000 words and lost everything again. I cried. I took a few months off. Then I decided it must have been for the better. I started again with computer #3 and for 6months I worked hard. I worked diligently to try and finish my novel. I got up to 150,000 words and then finally realized when that computer also commuted suicide (I do have those words saved on a flash drive) that the universe must be telling me something. So from there I scratched my fantasy novel started anew on just at first which turned into a fictional character which turned into the sci-fi version of my old character and now everything fits. Best part is I can't edit anything
Also, you forgot fuzzy socks or slippers to keep your feet warm ^_^
