@Seth MacFarlane is the creator and star of the American science fiction comedy-drama television series The Orville. Ed Mercer, the series' main character, is an officer on one of the Planetary Union's line of exploration spaceships in the year 2501.
The series aggressively parodies and pays homage to both Star Trek: The Original Series and its successor, Star Trek: The Next Generation.
In the first two seasons, it follows the crew of the starship USS Orville on their episodic adventures, then in the third season, it follows them on a serialized adventure.
The Orville, a two-season Fox television series that was produced by Fuzzy Door Productions and 20th Television, debuted on September 10, 2017. (and became available on streaming service Hulu the following day)

I love the little squawk from Darulio. When the episode first aired, we didn’t even recognize him as Rob Lowe. It was a brief appearance, and he didn’t speak. After he came back in a later episode, upon rewatching the first one it seemed so obvious. I remember thinking, “Rob Lowe came in to get all of that makeup and prosthetics, was only visible for a couple of seconds with not a single word of dialogue.”

So this is whats happening:
The blue guys species has a mating phase where they go into heat and emit a pheromone that makes any person touching him go into heat too. But it is not 100% clear if the smurf was in his mating phase when she cheated with him, or if it was a one time thing or not. This is pretty much the first episode and in the second episode they have to see each other again because the woman becomes his second in command even tho they were divorced for 2 years after that incident.
I mean she clearly looks like she enjoyed it. Not like she was drugged...

For those who defend her because they “know the show” you should all know that he’s a metaphor for that Chad your lady saw on the street that one time. It made her “feel a certain way” and she “couldn’t control herself”.

Yeah man I agree I never found her character likeable after this. Any time she would do anything that made her likeable I always thought of her cheating then it was back to square one.

The entire point is that they are flawed characters they're not supposed to be "role models".
There's also the fact that she genuinely tires to make up for what she did and he does later forgive her and the two stay friends, GENUINELY trying to make amends for your actions when you're wrong is a good role model trait.
Not to mention it's revealed later the alien's pheromones are extremely intoxicating to humans during their two week once every 3 years mating period, something no one knew until later, and it's strongly hinted in a later episode that she was being affected by them.
