Inspired by the 52 chapter ,19th century poem of the same name by Walt Whitman. The studio version, at the end, has a spoken poem section, written by Tuomas in an ode to the original. The word to that are the words you see on the big screen behind the band.
Song #14 of 15 at Wacken, right after Ghost Love Score. An Anette era song from the Imaginaerum album, which this tour was for.

An interviewer once asked Tuomas the meaning of a song. His reply was "It means whatever you need it to". This is the magic of Nightwish. The songs touch each of us in different ways, but the meaning always seems to be very personal, as if they were written for you.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do "Dark Chest of Wonders" next. It's the same concert, but the show opener. Most in the crowd had never seen Floor before as the lead singer. This makes the performance a very special one. It is fire!

You are spot on about Tuomas’s lyrics. “Sometimes the within is piano black”. You can deep dive into this one and have something very different than someone else. I hope Dead Boys Poem, (mentioned in this song) from Buenos Aires is coming soon. (Floor’s costume is even better there.). Think you both will love that one. Ann Waychoff was known by many as the Nightwish Mom. The Nightwish rabbit hole with Floor is deep but the Floor Jansen rabbit hole is unbelievably deep it’s going to be a long journey enjoy!
A very different Nightwish song: 'Kiss while your lips are still red' live in Londen. The bassist as the lead singer, Floor the backing singer. It's surprising, more recent, in another venue and I think you will like it a lot. Either way good reaction. Have fun.

It is A Tribute to the poem in 52 chapters, One for every week of the year, " Song of myself " by Walt Whitman 1819-1892.(one of the co-founders of US poetry). The 7th line of the song is ""Of mermaids, of Whitman's and the Ride""". The extended official studio version of this song has, at the end, a poem as a tribute to Whitman made by Tuomas, the keyboard player and the mastermind of nightwish. These lines you can also see fast flahing on the ledscreen of the video you just saw.

The lyrics are based on Walt Whitman's poem of the same name. In the studio version, at the end of the song, Tuomas recites some of his own poetry where he purposely imitates Whitman's style.
Friends and family (including Troy before he was in the band) recite the poem. It's beautiful.

It will show how the band dealt with Anette Olsen's absence due to late pregnancy and Floor's journey to learn the songs in time for the following show.
It's on RUclips and whenever they speak Finnish, it's properly subbed.
Eventually, you will know another song they reference. They mentioned The River Ghost. They play Ghost River in this show. I imagine you will get to it soon.
The deeper you go into the night which catalog you will realize that everything that happens on stage and everything they do serves a purpose......Tuomas it's just completely on another level when it comes to what he does..... A reactor once said that nightwish does a lot of tension and release you were kind of calling it you know light into heavy and they do this roller coaster up and down and that's just I think it's to keep you interested and to keep you thinking........ Their music truly is like a great play or even a great movie they have to keep you interested they have to keep you wanting more and they have to make you think............ I think they've accomplished all of those.
Two of the best IMO for watching Floor’s stage presence are the Tampa FL performance of Sahara and the Mexico City performance of Alpenglow. In both videos they keep the cameras a lot more on Floor and the band rather than hopping around on the audience mugging for the video. And you get to really appreciate just how much of their individual personalities each band member puts into a Nightwish show.

Tunes from the Wacken show are amazing. Wait until you visit tracks from Wembley and Tampere ‘15 and Buenos Aires ‘18 to enjoy the band evolution with Floor as the voice.

Phenomenal! Started with the tempo right from the start! That tempo with the guitar along with the drums was ear candy. Floor, as always, sounded incredible. Her voice grounds the totality of the whole production. The crowd is completely involved with crowd surfing no less.
This is the next to the last song of the concert. They mention Storytime and Ghost River (that I remember off the top of my head). It also references Walt Whitman (who wrote a poem called "Song of Myself"). Ironically, when the song was recorded with Anette Olzon, I seem to remember it having a different name. When the album was rerecorded with Floor Jansen, it was renamed.
It has always been called Song of Myself but on the album it has chapters with different names, probably this is what you remember. There is no rerecorded album with Floor only live versions.

A tremendous piece of music. As I have stated on another reaction video, we sadly will not be able to hear Nightwish perform this song this way anymore. Marco leaving the band has left an incredible void in the music of Nightwish. Marco was the secret weapon of the band who made them spectacular. Floor no doubt is one of the greatest vocalists ever. No other group could match their triple theat of voice, composition and instrumentation. I know Marco had good reasons for leaving for himself and his family but he is sorely missed.

You will meet Troy who is the 6th band member you haven't met yet, also you will meet Kai who is Yukka's friend and mentor. Kai took over as drummer when Yukka stopped playing

You were correct to pick up on references to other songs. The Imaginarium album was written as a story. Storytime was the 2nd song from the album and sets the tone for the rest of the album. Song of Myself is the final or conclusion of the story. The concert was part of the Imaginarium tour. The name of the DVD for this video is Showtime Storytime.

His songs are not about love and breakups... Romanticide is about breakup. Everdream is a love song. It's just when Toumas does it , it about real love and breakup, not just sweet and nice.

Hopefully when or if you get to react to I Want My Tears Back, I hope you do this concert. I’m sure the list has the version from Buenos Aires, and while both are great, you don’t get Jukka in the latter of the two. It will also be your introduction to their sixth member Troy, a multi instrumentalist who can play about any instrument you put in his hands.
On the album Imaginaerum - Song of Myself is divided in parts - Part 6 called Love is not really suitable for a concert as the music slows and the voices become speech like, but has wonderful lyrics - do not cheat yourself for these. here is a small part of the poem:

One of my favourites, like many others have said, as for the clothes they look very normal to me in a rock setting, I used to dress like this every weekend I'm from Nottingham in the UK we have a very large rock venue, rock city. A shop called void makes all the alternative clothes I'm a bit old for it now but loved dressing like this I'm quite tall five nine nit as tall as Floor but yes the outfits are amazing.

to be exact, its never a change of pace in this song, its almost never a change of pace in Nightwish songs. Usually what is perceived as a change in pace is the change in rythm ,at the same pace. For instance going half tempo, or from a 4/4 to 7/8 or whatever time change or combo , while the "speed" of the clicktrack remains the same;)
Awesome reaction! I am excited to see some more in the future! If you ever want to check out a studio track I cannot recommend Meadows of Heaven enough! It is a song from Imaginaerum and sung by my favorite Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon!

Yes you must React to the show opener "Dark Chest Of Wonders". Wacken was Floor's first big concert as Nightwish Frontwoman(82,000 people)and she came out smokin' hot!!! Very up-tempo song as you might expect. Gotta get that massive crowd MOVING!!!
