    Gary, I could comment on about half the tools that you showed, but I wanted to note on that Lisle ridge reamer. I am in the process of rebuilding my International 264 engine. It took on some water, and I needed to get the pistons out without further damage. The rings were stuck hard, so I needed to remove the ridge on the bores. I never liked those modern type of ridge reamers, so I looked on ebay and bought an old Lisle just like the one you have. Mine was never used, it would seem. Well, it did the job for me on my engine perfectly, not cutting too much, just the right amount. Keep that ridge reamer around and oiled up. They are way nicer than the new ones. The fine thread down feed and the arch to keep it square really make it the best to use. You might be thankful some day that you have it. --Doozer

    You picked up some killer deals in 2022. Especially the sky hook and metal brake. I don't understand why sellers think they can throw 30 pounds of tooling in a cardboard box and not expect it to blow out the side. When I ship heavy stuff like that I build a wooden box to fit in the flat rate box.

    • @OldIronMachineWorks
      @OldIronMachineWorks  Год назад

      Tom, wooden box inside the cardboard box has always been a very nice way to package. I have had a couple things that I shipped where I put the parts in a plastic bag and filled the box with spray foam. I’m always amazed on seeing how some people package up their parts to be shipped. Hope you’re doing good. Gary

    I’ve got a number of the same tool holders, in BXA, for my Dorian. But I’ve replaced all the hold down screws. I bought screws from McMastercarr (where else?) with flats. I don’t know why they use screws with necks at the bottom. If you use a tool that’s the height of the slot, much of the screw neck is in the holder, with no threads! I just don’t get that. How am I not surprised at the box with the missing tool post missing, gone or stolen or just threw away when it fell out. These shipping companys need to be made to cover this stuff not the shipper then everyone's price goes up. It's nonsense at how things get treated these days in shipping. I just went through a remodel on my home and a dishwasher that my wife had ordered from Lowe's came on a Lowe's truck and when he raised the door whoever loaded it had ran the forks on the forklift through the front door of the dishwasher and out the back of the machine and they still tried to deliver it to me. The driver said well I have to leave the dishwasher and that I had to call Lowe's and take it up with them. Apparently the driver didn't know me or ever herd of me. I said really as he stood in the back of the truck well then watch this. He had left the truck running so I reached into the truck cut it off and took the keys. I told the driver when he finally made it back to Lowe's he could tell his boss that the truck was at my last stop along with the dishwasher that he had destroyed and tried to make me take delivery of. And that way when they came back for it they would have a truck to take it back on. Needless to say at that point he started to loading it back up and started his I'm sorry over and over.
