There is nothing called a 1-year MBA. It is called PGPx, keep it at that. Even after IIMs start awarding degrees (MBA as against the current PGP), the 1-year version does not meet the requirements of a Master's degree. So the PGPx will remain as it is, while the regular 2 year PGP will become MBA. A simple way to look at this is, with a PGPx one CANNOT pursue further studies as it is not considered a post-graduate degree.
On the Institute's brochure, we write 1 year full time MBA. I dont reckon any batchmate of mine who wanted to study further after PGPX. So maybe you are technically right

Hi Anurag.. I am a Manager in Reserve Bank, where I have 1 year experience in Currency Management role (destruction of currency notes) and 2 years experience in managing IT resources. Before RBI, I had 2 years experience as software engineer at Infosys. Will it be wise for me to quit RBI and go for PGPX? Can I get management consulting role post PGPX? I would like to point out that Manager in RBI is a 'generalist' position, and can be transferred to any department within the Bank. I was looking for the future growth in my field if I clear GMAT(since I have a very good confidence in CAT, scoring 700 must not be much of trouble). So adding executive MBA from top 5 colleges in india or a better college abroad would be a good option. Now since you know me, you will have a better idea whether to take my advice or not.

Hi Anurag.. I am a Manager in Reserve Bank, where I have 1 year experience in Currency Management role (destruction of currency notes) and 2 years experience in managing IT resources. Before RBI, I had 2 years experience as software engineer at Infosys. Will it be wise for me to quit RBI and go for PGPX? Can I get management consulting role post PGPX?
I would like to point out that Manager in RBI is a 'generalist' position, and can be transferred to any department within the Bank.
Also, I have a 4 year gap between Infosys and RBI, wherein I was preparing for UPSC Civil Services exams. Will this be a hindrance in getting a job post PGPX?

@@ashishkumarkumar22 let me tell you something about myself. I am pursuing finance from above average college, expecting a placement of 10 lac. I was looking for the future growth in my field if I clear GMAT(since I have a very good confidence in CAT, scoring 700 must not be much of trouble). So adding executive MBA from top 5 colleges in india or a better college abroad would be a good option. Now since you know me, you will have a better idea whether to take my advice or not.
