Jessie J is a very underrated singer in my opinion and today I wanted to do a vocal coach reaction to one of her performances.
Jessie is an English singer and songwriter who studied at the BRIT school with Adele and Leona Lewis before signing her first record deal as a songwriter.
She is recognized for an unconventional musical and performance style.
Jessie later went on to sign with Universal Republic, and came to prominence following the release of her debut album.
I’ll be reacting to her song “Domino” from that album. The song became Jessie J's second number-one single in the UK. In the United States, the song peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her most successful single in the US at the time but has since been surpassed by "Bang Bang" in 2014.

LOLOL. I don't hear to many other "vocal coaches" who can nail the songs that they are reacting to at the same time the pro is singing them. I don't see many other vocal coaches who have so many tremendously talented students. Very simple marketing. "I'm Ken Tamplin, I can really sing". These are my students they can really sing". Great work Ken.

Good Breakdown of the elements of Vocals. Is there a list of the elements of vocals. Or can you make one. I really dont know what strengths and weaknesses are present in my singing voice. Like "pitch, tone, vibrato" ect...
I wouldn't say Jessie J is underrated, she's more overlooked, which is a total shame cause she really is a great singer. Great reaction vid Ken...You Da Man🤙🏻🤙🏻

Jessie J is so natural with her voice... Seems so effortless...
She was on that contest in China, about two years ago, called "The Singer"... Her performance of that song Domino is just phenomenal... Actually check out all of her performances of that contest... Just amazing 😅🎶👊✌

In some of her covers I found that she slowed down her vibrato which leads me to believe she’s really doing it for style and is capable of moderating herself heh

Jesse also has one of the most agile voices I've ever heard. Her melisma is effortless.

whatever she does, you can be sure that she nails it! jessie makes me squirm every time i hear her sing because she is that powerful and effortless. no doubt she has her obstacles with this song or another sometimes but she practices hard as hell. excuse my language :)
I have to agree with you she's VERY underrated most of her success has been in the Uk with a decent amount worldwide... she has an awesome voice my favorite of hers is the acoustic version of Masterpiece that's where I think she shows her true talent.

Jessie J is a RIDICULOUSLY talented singer! Her pitch is laser line focused and her vibrato is intense...she Knows her range and when to go there. I believe Katy Perry actually wrote this song but Jessie is also an enormously talented writer...... Again...as far as popstars go, she's a legit powerhouse and talent. Don't really need Auto tune for her. She can sing.

She’s got incredible voice and I agree. There are certain vocalists who have so much power, when they sing it’s less about giving their all than it is controlling their immense vocal power. Almost like vocally almost becoming a run away freight train..... it’s very exciting to hear this type vocalist perfectly control their instrument

As hard as it is to admit as a 'Metal' guy, I have a few of her albums...... that I bought for my wife, of course. 😉 I was blown away by her talent and tone. Not my normal music by a long shot but she gets my respect. The vibrato has always grated on me a bit, too, though.
She is awesome. Not the typical music i hear, but i gotta admit, even though i know nothing about singing techniques, but she she seems to have the power, the voice control, the swag, as said in the video, she is absolutelly gorgeous, captivating, she owned that giant stage she was in and nailed the performance.

"Killing Me Softly" was written by Charles Fox and lyrics by Norman Gimbel not Roberta Flack. It was written for a male: "Killing Me Softly With Her Song," originally recorded by Perry Como. I got to sing it in front of Mr. Gimbel at his grandson's wedding about 8 years ago - a true honor. He thanked and complimented me by saying, "best version yet!" I'm sure he was just being graceful, but 'Ill take it!

Very underrated but can belt with the best.
Ken, I’d like to suggest a Russian female vocalist 14 years old when performed ( now 15).
But she has the most unique mesmerizing memorable style and voice I’ve ever heard in the last 20 years of listening to female vocalists from around the world. I know men who can pull this off but a female??? Perhaps you have encountered one?

Don’t believe you can teach this but if anyone can , it’s you.
After this, check out 3 songs she performs in English which I consider the best female versions young or old.
“ it’s a man’s world” the James Brown classic which she KILLS with her voice and her body ( gyrating in sync with the song).
“wicked game” her low register amazing and her entire performance remarkable.
“Human” never heard a woman perform this but because of Diana’s low register she pulls it off!
I would pay $1000 for a ticket if Di (Ana) & Di ( mash) were ever to perform together in concert. I’d call it the Di & Di ( D2 D squared) extravaganza
She’s my favorite female vocalist at the moment.

She is great. Whoever creates these catchy melodies are geniuses. I think she writes, but I really wanted to know EXACTLY how every process of the creation of these ultra famous pop songs are and who's REALLY behind them. I heard once that few and the same people create majority. I know one name: Max Martin. For me he's a genius and curiously he is a rock guy hahah But to know only few and the same are behind majority of music people listen is scary and disappointing.
Jessie J is not my taste in music but she can nail Whitney and Celine songs as good as them. She had her time in the UK, she certainly is under rated. Still loving your videos Ken 😊 I’m no singer but I love singing!

Jessie J., Arianna Grande, Taylor Swift, J.Lo , Kesha, Megan Trainor, Justin Bieber, Robin Thicke, Backstreet Boys, N'Sync (the list goes on and on) are all examples of the same manufactured garbage music that is being forced on all of us by a music industry that no longer takes chances on investing in versatile and talented unknown artists. The same two song writers have written thousands of songs for most of the popular pop artists (all the ones I listed) and these songs all sound pretty much the same. It is not our imagination that music has gone down hill. The world needs another "An Axe To Grind" album fast to save music. Four thumbs up on your video and five on your awesome shirt.

Most people thought this was Katy Perry when it 1st came out. Its weird because have worked SO hard NOT to have that vibrato. Great tune though. She's a fox, too. Nothing like writing a super chorus to have to hit every live performance.
