That was a bold move to throw power to the car after a saltwater flood. Generally the only way you can save the electronics and modules on such a car is to pull them, dry them out, and clean them with alcohol or electronics cleaner. Saltwater causes corrosion and shorts that start some real problems when power goes through them again.

If you think a normal car that has been flooded is a pain in the gut to fix, the Bentley is a cyanide pill. Even just with normal use, the electronics are horrendous to fix when (not if) they fail. Part it out, and get some money back.
On a deep saltwater flood your best bet would have been 1. Drain the motor/trans/differentials and flush oil/trans fluid/diesel through everything you can through the plugs, flood it from the oil cap add some heet to get rid of residual water. 2.Remove all major electronics and ultrasonic clean in isopropyl alcohol re apply thermal grease and clean all connection on wiring. DO Not attempt to power it on you can short things that might not have been shorted. 3. If you want to save a car from flood there is only one thing you can do and the process is exactly the same for every car. You have to strip the interior completely, wash whole interior outside the car otherwise there will be mold. Second thing is you have to remove every electronic module from car and wash it, preferably in ultrasonic cleaner and clean literally every connector in the car with connector cleaning spray. Then you have to remove engine, do the same thing with engine, check all the seals on the whole drivetrain, flush all fluids few times to make sure there no water. It would be also good to replace wheel bearing and every other bearing on the suspension. And then you should wash the whole body of the car. Even insides of closed profiles along with every part from the car. And then you can drive it and it should break all the time. If you don't do this like that, car like Bentley will be gone in a year. In the best case scenario you will have problems with electronics and mold. In worst case scenario whole drive train will be wrecked, all the bearings in the suspension like wheel bearings won't exist at this point and this car will be sold for parts

Piece of advice, those motors for all doors, windows, seats, vents etc. they are all mostly repairable. And they are most likely Bosch made. So you don't have to buy them crazy expensive from dealer or hunting for them on eBay (it is Bentley). Out of all my flooded vehicles I could not repair only one motor on Yukon. I fixed every single motor myself, saved a lot of time and money. It is basically cleaning job. Taking apart, cleaning put back together. !!!!!!! DO NOT CUT THEM!!!!!!. But most likely we will never hear from you about Bentley again.

Drop in an old school big bock that literally needs three wires to run, run new wiring for lights, etc. and sell that still good Bentley motor to cover your costs. That will make one helluva ride.
First thing I did after the storm passed was wash off all the salt with city water. Though it's kinda dope that car went across the entire country not running/driving.
I have a 2005 S Type Jaguar .One day i had a flat battery which is in the trunk, and to cut a long story short there is a hidden keyhole in the edge of the trunk lid, use you Ignition key to open
I wonder if, for a flood car, especially salt, you could dunk it in a tank of distilled/pure water and soak the salt water out of it, dry it out, and potentially at least clean some shorts out. Either that or an alcohol bath. Would likely need to be done right away before corrosion set in, but something that might work?
Easiest way to evacuate an engine of water from my experience has been popping the spark plugs and turning the engine over with a breaker bar, then you suck the rest out if you still see some down in the cylinder.
You gotta drain and dry all that salt water or at least wash it out. Salt water is somewhat conductive like battery electrolyte. It's probably shorting out thru the salt water
Unless you are ready to install all new electrical everything you purchased a parts car in my opinion, that interior will smell so bad once it starts getting warmer.
It's always so fun to watch you guys solve problems. I had a thought.. would using suction cups made for moving glass or dent repair have worked for the trunk? by pulling the release and attaching and pulling on suction cups at the same time?
FYI, I met someone that owns a couple of used car dealers and he told me that these flood cars are NOT something to get involved with. He knows another dealer that tried to sell a flood car and didn't tell the customer that it was, and he got caught and has to serve prison time for that HUGE mistake. I would think even parting one of these things out you'd have to also mention it was a flood car part. Word to the wise, don't buy flood cars, that moniker will stay with it. Now, if you're just playing around with it and you have no intention of selling it or any parts from it without full disclosure, then maybe that's fine, but I would touch these things.
You might be able to Get the Original Mustang back and get the videos back on your channel, I think that it would be amazing to see the Original Mustang build complete and see your final vision on it !!!
Wrong. Never buy a flooded vehicle if you don't know what you are doing. Flooded vehicle is a great challenge and a lot of fun. It is a real test of your knowledge of the vehicle. Do you know how to change oil, brakes, tires, even engine or you know how modern vehicle works?
Wiring harnesses are extremely expensive and are car vin specific as are many other electronic devices that are probably ruined. And the only way to have them reprogrammed to your car is through a Bentley dealer who will require you to buy the wiring harness and electrical things needed through them. Unless you have very deep pockets you have nothing but a very big paper weight. Talk to Watch JR Go.
applying power to it just yet is not a good idea. Id fill the engine with vinigar and let it sit overnight to kill any rust in it. and turn it over by hand - drain out the oil before filling it, then flush the oil with deisel, then crank it wo the plugs in - apply power to the starter not with the keys. to build oil pressure and blow out the moisture. get it in a garage With a dehumidifier going. If that was fresh water, it would be better than sal water damage. But in the bright side you can always Ls swap it.
Can we get a short Elenore update? I know you mentioned it briefly in a post somewhere but I would love to hear what the plan moving forward is. What are the Helicki people obligated to do for you? Will you have to sue them to get reasonably compensated? What would that even look like? Getting the car's value back is only a small part of what a video series means to a RUclips creator.

It is cold in Astoria, I was there for 15 days and 15 days of rain wind and no sun. i am glad I am back in the south East , I did go visit B is for boat ….
This is why salt water flood vehicles usually have a Parts Title - everything is corroded and they are near impossible to resurrect as a working vehicle again. Best idea to get your money back is to part it out.
Good luck, watched the guy save the boat/engine from the bottom of Lake Mead after 30 years under water, I think you guys will get it going. Would not want it for my daily driver thou. BTW. Are the Mustang Tee shirts sold out? I got the R69 one, but not the Stang shirt. One comment on the Mustang. When you were driving it, the rear looked like it was sagging. Could just be seeing it on TV. Maybe raise the rear a tiny bit.
You did it backwards but it's understandable but you have to resist trying to give it power. Will only cause more damage. You have to strip them and rip the entire harness and soak it/and or clean every connector. You can use 90% alcohol or an oil based solvent like oven cleaner on the connectors. Being its salt water your better off replacing the entire harness. And if you want any kind of longevity on the body you need to strip it and use rust inhibitor. Most people either replace the bolts or run them through a sonic cleaner also.

My face when they started cutting :( I bet that W12 engine makes a nice desk :) Even I you just wanted the drivetrain for a swap you still need all the electronics working... Saltwater is also way harder to deal with than cleaner rainwater, maybe that Portland rain cleans some off. The intakes standing full of saltwater is like worstcasescenario...
Oh this is not a flood car that I would recommend buying lol. Bentleys have really intricate electronic systems. There is a whole checklist of stuff that has to be perfect before the car even tries to crank. So many issues can be fixed just by putting new batteries in it. If the batteries arent ok the car turns into a complete brick, even if you jump it. Vcds scan tool will come in handy if you start to get the car to function. It will give you a whole laundry list of problems even on fully driving cars. I used to work at a shop that a benz dealer would outsource their bentleys to because they didnt want to deal with them.

Looking forward to it! I was really hoping you would do a full tear down and B is for Build it back to stock. I'm guessing you have doa modules and corroded fuses. That looks like a first gen, I think they share some parts with the Audi A8 and S8 btw.
If you have access to a skid steer, you could flood the car again with a water hose to get a lot of impossible to reach salt out of the body, just bury the car with tarps and pack the back of the tarps with dirt, then run a water hose at the top or in strategic areas to dilute the salt
Oscar is just a very clever guy. It’s no wonder Chris rates him so highly. Live long and prosper boys…🙏
Filming in the rain for a car that has been flooded is just too much chaos for me to watch
Agree, it is like to watch surgery on open heart in a jungle on the ground.
"B is for Build; if the trunk lid doesn't open, just cut it off!"
Sooo... B is for Butcher
The way they did it was quite smart. I thought they use a crow bar or something. Weld in that flat panel is done no time.
@@JohnDoe-zr6bk Did you forget the half cut they already made before they decided to cut the little latch? That trunk is F-ed :P
That Bently is pretty cool looking. But a w-12 power train swap could be really cool too.
A little more slowly on the boat? I did not think it was possible to go slower. LOL! Love the channel.
😂😂 come on dude what do you expect a flooded Bentley to be like if not worst than you'd think
Man I fully expect a non flooded Bentley to be worse than I think. A flooded Bentley is an entire different bag of shit that I would never want a part in. I'll just buy a passat for 1/8th the price for the same car. And not have to deal with the weird british grimlins.
@@Tagiau 😂 neither do I that's a nightmare that never ends
@@Tagiau your Passat doesnt have a 6.0L twin turbo w12 making 620hp and AWD or Carbon brakes nor is it anywhere near as nice. Its also somehow even shittier lol
@@Shadow0fd3ath24 It's also going to not break down every other week, and need a new wiring harness every time you let it sit for 48 hours. Let's not even talk about the 20k brakes. If I can buy a car for the price of one part, I'll hard pass.
@@VvvDoubleDvvV agreed, he knows the engine wouldnt turn over. It shoulda been a vid about replacing relays and cleaning contacts. Or straight into tear down to sell off parts because we all know its not worth fixing.
Your positivity is refreshing!! Stay with it brother! Love this channel!
Thanks for the great content! Now that the law suit is done, will you try and get your Mustang back?
All in all, you now have a Bentley Continental GT. I'd make the best of it and turn it into a resto-mod. Drop in an old school big bock that literally needs three wires to run, run new wiring for lights, etc. and sell that still good Bentley motor to cover your costs. That will make one helluva ride.
Oh dear. Chris has finished some things that I didn't think were possible before, but this one is on a whole level of it's own.
I don't know Chris, I can imagine some very severe flood damage
That’s a beautiful car
First thing I did after the storm passed was wash off all the salt with city water. Though it's kinda dope that car went across the entire country not running/driving.
Hope to see you get back the Eleanor back from the lying witch.
I have a 2005 S Type Jaguar .One day i had a flat battery which is in the trunk, and to cut a long story short there is a hidden keyhole in the edge of the trunk lid, use you Ignition key to open
Have a word with JR go ( on RUclips) he has just had a Bentley with starting issues .he could give you a way to go .
Hey, looking for an update on an order placed beginning of December. Hope all is well, thanks.
Got it yesterday. Thanks
Easiest way to evacuate an engine of water from my experience has been popping the spark plugs and turning the engine over with a breaker bar, then you suck the rest out if you still see some down in the cylinder.
great video, i think it's time for you to upgrade your camera because the video quality is not terrible, it's almost the same quality as 360p lol
Dang man, I know how that goes with PowerJDM... Lots of upfront promise, but no delivery
@ᴛᴇxᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ @ʙ_ɪs_ғᴏʀʙᴜɪʟᴅ NOOOOOO not the spam bots here too!!
I saw that a McLaren P1 went into auction from the Florida floods.... Can't wait to see it on the channel! xD
Tavarish is buying that one 🤣
@@patrikpolda LOL Tavarish is busy fixing his money pit of a new house.
LS swapping a P1
You gotta drain and dry all that salt water or at least wash it out. Salt water is somewhat conductive like battery electrolyte. It's probably shorting out thru the salt water
Unless you are ready to install all new electrical everything you purchased a parts car in my opinion, that interior will smell so bad once it starts getting warmer.
One thing our British cars can’t deal with is any level of water which is frustrating they are from a country known for being very wet
It's always so fun to watch you guys solve problems. I had a thought.. would using suction cups made for moving glass or dent repair have worked for the trunk? by pulling the release and attaching and pulling on suction cups at the same time?
Hey I helped u get the quarter panels for your gtr. I also have a bentley so if u need info..
I need update
Man, a salt water flooded car is a whole different thing from a fresh water flooded car.
your biggest mistake, never buy a flooded vehicle rule no.1!!!
You are in WAY over your head. I laughed when you said you were thinking of buying another wrecked Bentley to help you fix this one. Good luck
We had similar situation with a Lancer, nut sure if this is applicable here. The way that we opened the car was by passing power via the alternator.
B is for Back in time camera quality. Feels like I'm watching videos from 2010. Enjoy the content, just so hard to watch coming from crisp 4k videos to this.
It is cold in Astoria, I was there for 15 days and 15 days of rain wind and no sun. i am glad I am back in the south East , I did go visit B is for boat ….
I wonder how many fuses popped when the water first got to it.
Have you tried the engine ground from gearbox to the chassis or engine to chassis check them and the wire should stop burning
You brave to take this on.....Watch J R Go was defeated by his Bentley, good luck.
I'm in Beaverton and have a 2007 GT Continental in perfect shape if you need some reference for you car. I also have some experience with the electrical problems these cars have.
Chris!!! Go get ur Eleanor dream car back! If it wasnt crushed yet. Good on Shelby winning their case against a bogus copyright infringement.
Have fun recoding all the modules immobilizer data when doing that driveline swap. Well its a Can-Bus system and there should be a way to delete a module, im sure someone knows...
This is basically a Audi A8 so when looking for parts, try looking at the part numbers and going to Audi for the replacements.
My face when they started cutting :(
I bet that W12 engine makes a nice desk :) Even I you just wanted the drivetrain for a swap you still need all the electronics working...
Saltwater is also way harder to deal with than cleaner rainwater, maybe that Portland rain cleans some off. The intakes standing full of saltwater is like worstcasescenario...
Nice another project to start even though you have a ton of other unfinished ones 😬
