    Have you considered reducing the amount of furniture in your home to allow for more natural movement? Could you live without a couch?

      J'ai donné mon grand canapé et les meubles imposants et je vais me débarrasser aussi de la machine à laver ! Merci pour ce partage si sympa et intéressant 💗🇫🇷👍

      Seriously considering it…we have well worn second hand sofas that aren’t that comfortable.
      I just wonder how to welcome guests, especially seniors.

      I have considered it, but my husband doesn't like the idea. Besides that, I have osteoarthritis of the hip, which makes sitting on the floor almost completely impossible

      I live in a tiny studio right now, but if I ever get to live in a house again, I want my “living room” to be a music room! I want all my instruments out so anyone can just come by and pick up a guitar or ukulele or sit down at the piano or play on the drums. That’s my dream, a musical playground. 😍

    Yes… I am planning to get rid of my living room furniture. It’s nothing but a trampoline park for my kids. We don’t ever sit in there. It’s such a waste of space. I’m getting rid of it all. Luckily I’m not big on knick knacks and decorations. I like the “empty” look. I feel much better and refreshed. I also don’t like to clean. I would be lying is I said I do. Less stuff equals less for me to clean!

    I sleep on the floor with a couple of wool blankets and two sleeping bags. They are folded up and put away when I get up. A few years ago, I found myself getting stiff and what I call "chair bound." Put away the chair I sat in most of the day, and went to the floor. A folded blanket and a yoga block help maintain comfort in a few different seated positions. The computer ended up on a small short platform on wheels, so I can easily position it wherever I want it. Most older people I know have next to NO mobility! I don't want to find myself in the same spot 10-20 years from now.

      Sounds like a wonderful set up! I hope to be ballroom dancing at 80, like many of my teachers were. You gotta keep on moving to maintain mobility. Wishing you the best! 💜 Heidi

    I sleep on a tatami mat and Japanese futon! I love it. I also use a floor desk and floor chair with no legs. Looking for a living room alternative to the couch. Already don’t have a dining room table. We sit on chairs at the counter. I love the open spaces

    I’m so inspired. Beautiful!!!!! It gets your family to move and stretch and live minimal. Good skills and mindset for their future. I love wool and natural materials. Definitely looking forward to getting wool / cotton futon mattresses

      @@ECpeesy Yes, I do. Left more space for them than my living space for a family of four. We can keep veggies fresh even when we buy outside. It stays fresh outside 🌏 than inside refrigerator .

      @@anjanarao3527 you must live in a cooler climate. I’m in the southern US and it’s so hot outside it’s burned my poor cucumber plants 🥵. Wish I could get rid of fridge.

    I would LOVE to make my home natural movement friendly, but my husband is very not on board with that unfortunately. I am big into the barefoot/barefoot shoe movement, and I spend quite a bit of time in the floor with my toddler, but that's it for now. 🤷

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 года назад +2

      Those are both great! Even if you have furniture, you don't have to use it all the time.

  • @ikrobiee

    Have you considered floor cushions for your table? Or even folded blankets just for comfort.

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 года назад +1

      Sometimes I would use the floor cushion that I showed later in the video at the table. Mostly since I was pregnant and it was harder to get comfortable. My kids didn't really need cushions and they would have gotten them dirty. 💜Heidi

    i am curious about the beds on the floor, i’ve had people warn me about beds on the floor because of them getting mold & people tend to recommend slats... i guess if you are about to fold them up it’s not as much of a worry? any thoughts?
    thanks for sharing btw!

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 года назад +11

      Slats are one option. We had them directly on the floor. Once a week we would hang them up on a sturdy drying rack with the window open, to air them out. That's what we learned while staying with a friend in Japan. 💜 Heidi

      My mattress went moldy because I didn't air it out in the sun. Learnt the hard way.

      I lift my mattress up and lean it against the wall during the day so it can dry.

    Hi. thank you so much for the video. can you tell me how you deal with dust getting in your bed or do you have this problem. being that you don't you're on the floor. Also the apartment that I am living in has carpet unfortunately wonder how that would work with a floor bed? Also is it recommended that you hang it up for mold issues I'm in a very "moist" state Washington.

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  Год назад

      Having carpet and a damp climate, it would be best to put the mattress on some sort of slats, to allow air flow. It’s not recommended to put the mattress directly on the floor. We just got away with it in a fairly dry area and hanging the mattress to air out weekly. 💜 Heidi

    Do you use anything for catching potty accidents if the kids?

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  2 года назад

      Soaring Hearts Natural Beds and The Futon Shop. I believe there are links in the description box below the video. We also use a wool puddle pad on the bed as a water repellent layer. 💜 Heidi

    I thought those Japanese-style beds require a tatami mat or some wood planks below to ensure no mold grows as they allow air to circulate.

    • @ECpeesy
      @ECpeesy  Год назад

      Tatami mat or wood planks under the mattress would be best! It’s also traditional in Japan to fold up the mattress everyday and hang it outside to air out each week. 💜 Heidi
