Sometimes if a tire is binding to something on the ground it can be difficult. Try both directions. The steering lock is not related to the dash warning lights.
I used a after-market unit from parts store. This is just an on/off switch nothing fancy. The installation is a little bit fidgety because of how the plastic retainer nut locks on to the plastic switch. Try locking it/unlocking it a few times before putting it in the car, to get feel for how it works. All in all, it's very simple. Thanks for watching.

This happens to me along with the power steering, airbag and more recently and weirdly, the seatbelt light flashes despite being buckled. There's nothing I can do to trigger this. I don't know why it's doing it. There's no codes. Battery and alternator have been tested multiple times and they're fine. Dealership won't look at because the lights weren't on when I brought it in. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.
It's not dangerous but we've sometimes seen the ABS system locking up with this issue which means that the vehicle will come to a stop just as if you had your foot on the brake.
My 2008 rav4 4 cylinder has the check engine, VSC, and Traction Control light on. Had codes read and was told misfire in the 1st cylinder. Replaced the spark plugs and seems to have fixed misfire, but it’s stuck in limp mode. How could I fix that?
Mine had the check engine light, VSC and 4WD lights pop on after I drove it almost a mile ran in and out of a store and started it again. Had the tire shop NTB right in that shopping center so I had them check it. They got 4 codes, P0138 O2 sensor circuit high voltage bank 1 sensor 2. P0328 Knock/Combustion Vibration Sensor A Circuit high. C1280 Engine control system fault and C1201 Engine Control System fault. He told me not to drive it home, I needed to have it towed the less than a mile because the engine could be damaged or just get stuck on the way home. I drove it home anyway, but was afraid to go do my grocery shopping I had planned.
Yeah, unhook the ABS module from the harness, you'll know if it's shorted internally if the problems with battery discharge stop with the module disconnected.

My 2007 RAV4 has the same lights on and the cruise control stopped working. I have spent $1,200 and each time I pick it up everything works fine for about 20 miles, then the lights come back on and cruise won't work. What the hell did Toyota do to these RAV4's? Now the mechanic says to let him replace all the sensors on the tires. Damn, there goes another several hundred dollars. Any suggestions before I run the damn thing over a cliff?
I have a scantool by Autel. This costs about $1,000. I ialso have Techstream, which is the proprietary Toyota/Lexus diagnostic software. I use one or the other, depending on the situation.
How's this one: exact same lights come on...no code thrown, AND the Rav goes into Limp mode. Owner's manual sez reseat gas cap, which I do. Symptoms clear, regain normal power. Coincidently the symptom has occurred 3 times...twice after having filled up, once on wet pavement. Really stupid to put car into Limp mode for this. Yes, replaced gas cap. No codes ever!
Yesterday, Sunday, a customer called me to tell me the the oil pressure warning light had been coming on whenever she started the car in the morning. I told her not to drive it and I went to look at it at her home in her garage. It turned out, it was not the oil pressure warning light, it was the newfangled coolant temperature light that has replaced the temperature gauge on many cars. See where I'm going with this? I don't believe none of what people tell me, and no more than half of what I myself see.
@@mwngw all you can do is wait for it to come back and give codes. Or, scan it with a professional scantool that can read codes that a generic obd2 reader cannot read.

@@Merryfrankster_ Update. Water had leaked down (because the drain by sunroof was clogged)behind and under the lining to the floor on pasenger side which in turn came into contact with some elect compenents on that side.

Hi there, my 06 Highlander had the same check vsc, abs and an exclamation mark on. Went to autozone, got C1241 and C1249 codes. Was told it has something to do with the brake light switch which is located on top of brake pedal. Purchased it, had a nearby mechanic change it. He said C1249 is fixed but C1241 is still there! And my highlander still shows check vsc, abs and all. The mechanic told me it has something to do with the hybrid battery, it is low charge, Need to drive more, it will charge itself and lights will disappear from dashboard. I don’t buy it! It’s another problem. He said he couldn’t erase C1241 either. What to do? Stop light switch I got is SBA3202. Which would be correct one

My car does this while I’m going around curves. Steering wheel locks, wheel locks , vcs light flashes with and alarm sound.

Yes you need Toyota Techstream or you can use a professional scantool (Snap-on, Autel, etc). There is a special feature for cars without Trac button.

I have a c1241 code, low or high voltage. I don’t think it’s gonna be my brake pedal switch. Do you have any other recommendations?
If battery is good, all wires connections and grounds are good, and code won't go away, then replace the ABS unit.

Maybe the switch will help. If not, it means there is a problem with the ABS unit itself, you must replace it.

did you read any codes from OBD2? This would help.

Limp mode is associated with specific engine codes aka dtc's aka error codes. What error codes do you have showing, if any.

Replace the ABS unit. Leave the sensors alone, they are probably fine.
The speed signal comes from a wheel sensor to the ABS unit, and the ABS sends it to the dash and the ECM.

I also changed the MC, just to be on the safe side. But the sensor is inside the ABS module.

I have the same problem on same year rav 4. The code i show is Cat code
if you have a P0420 you can resolve that usually with an O2 sensor spacer.

@@jaxxboss1 actually yes it can. The switch can work well enough to release the I terlock but give a bad signal to the ecu.

Low battery voltage or bad connection can cause ABS errors. It's a possibility. You would have to run some diagnotics to determine the cause.

Yeah, those were the days. All you had to worry about was blowing the head gaskets every 1,500 miles.
