Their speech is different everyone else notices but the person going through it. They almost feel more like themselves more in touch with themselves but it’s complete opposite in reality. My mom is schizophrenic, so I have never messed with psychedelics (well, excluding weed). I do believe she was using (likely a variety) of drugs. But as someone who has used (speed, benzos, psychedelics, etc.) extensively in the past, there's a stark difference between a "regular" drug user and someone whose addiction is comorbid with a more serious mental disorder. In a group of drug users, sometimes there's someone who seems to not "handle it as well" or they are never the same afterwards even if they get cleaned up. These are often people with bipolar, schizophrenia, or a dissociative disorder. While drug induced psychosis is possible on its own, it's not really true that drugs cause some of these more long term conditions (especially since there's a genetic component). It's more like they become "activated," as you said.
      I guess this is all to say, yes, Marina likely used drugs. However, her mannerisms indicate there's deeper issues that are likely only exacerbated by the drugs. Like, it's only a small part of the whole picture. As outsiders, we'll never be privy to that whole picture, but I hope she's coping and doing well in her day to day life regardless.

    • @NyoomMonster
      @NyoomMonster Год назад +12

      I considered the two being coexisting issues for this person pretty much immediately.
      I have mental health issues and I know from experience that the effects of mind-altering substances can change a lot due to the different neurodivergencies and mental illnesses one has, and that such substances can also act as triggers for symptoms either in some circumstances or in all of them.
      For me, my nervous system and mental health doesn't react well to sativa strands of marijuana (or at least, it hasn't before, tolerance might've changed). Also, I know indica is typically known for relaxing people in a way that might make them sleepy. However, for me, indica's sedative effects only serve as a counter stimulant to my ADHD, without putting undue strain on my nervous system (as sativa would). Doing indica allows me to focus and to choose whether to relax or do something with more activity, without my body and brain being as picky about it. I can rest if I want to, I can be more active than if I were sober if I want to, I can play video games (with tunnel vision, which works against me sometimes), I can do art without getting art block as easily, and I can do other creative things as well as think through emotional problems more easily with it.
      Sativa makes me overstimulated, and it's harder to focus on what I want to focus on. If I get high on it without being in a calm, relaxing, and safe feeling environment when I take it, especially if I don't have anything pleasant to distract myself as the effects of the high come on, it can trigger nerve pain, seizure-like episodes, panic attacks, and if I'm super high, confusion and terror.
      ADHD also changes how stimulants and depressants work in the brain, chemically, which changes how a person with an ADHD brain presents and experiences their ADHD.
      I am ADHD, autistic, and have PTSD/C-PTSD and panic disorder. I also have mobility issues with my spine, caused by early skeletal degeneration and spinal compression, and peripheral neuropathy. The only substances I use are FDA approve medications, and medical marijuana. THC can be used to help with symptoms of ADHD if used correctly, for some people, like myself.

      Especially with pshycadelics. They are becoming more popular, and people are beggining to not look at them as drugs, which they are. Weed especially, which can cause severe pshycosis. I fell into doing Weed and pshycadelics for awhile, mainly shrooms, DMT, and weed (yes, Weed is a mild pshycadelic) and it put me in an episode of pshycosis that had me believing I was a God and acting a lot like how Marina was acting. It's terrifying, and these drugs should not be messed with. That doesn't go without saying that shrooms and dmt can actually be beneficial IF someone can guide the trip and under moderation. Your brain also should be fully developed, because it can fuck you up if it isn't. Out of every drug I did, shrooms were actually the one thing that I can confidently say helped me more than did harm, but dmt and Weed? I'm 30 now and was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 when I was 15. Mania is a terrifying, often destructive symptom and while a lot of her behavior is consistent with mania, the fact that this behavior continued nearly uninterrupted for years simply doesn't support the nature of the disorder. Mania takes a tremendous toll on a person, both physically and emotionally, and as a result, the episodes don't normally last more than a few weeks at most. The body just can't sustain itself in that state for such an extended period of time. Drug abuse, while certainly common in people with chronic psychotic illness, seems to fit better here. I'm no psychiatrist, nor do I know marina, but I think long-term substance abuse is a more likely part of an accurate explanation.

It'd explain some of the personality changes. She seems to be happy and spiritualism is helping her cope. MS used to be a death sentence but nowadays with certain drugs it only reduces your lifespan by less than 10 years or so but it's still a very scary diagnosis to receive. Speaking as someone who is seriously mentally ill and experiences psychotic episodes, the fact that everyone thought kidnapping was the only explanation and turned on her once that was proven untrue is terrifying. People saying she fed into it don't realize that almost nothing she did during that time was thought out at all. She probably thought she was perfectly normal and the concern for her came out of nowhere. She maybe thought she was being trolled and didn't realize the concern was genuine. Psychosis, drug induced or not, literally changes the way you perceive and interact with the world. If you are sick with Lupus, but the world assumes it's cancer based on that time they saw you at a doctor's office, you aren't "feeding into it" by being sick with something else. And it's not okay for people to assume you're lying because they were wrong about what specific illness you have. Her odd behavior was not a calculated move to encourage the kidnapping theory, it was just how she behaved at that time. Also, it's glaringly obvious that this is a mental health issue rather than a kidnapping. The way she spoke is literally a symptom of psychosis in the DSM.

Plus her pupils always looked giant in most of her videos indicating she was under the influence of something. Psychedelics can really mess you up mentally if you’re not careful. I always figured Marina was on drugs. Either that, or some mental health issues. I can’t imagine having my worst moments caught on camera daily. As a recovering addict, I can say that no one can help Marina until she wants the help. People can force you through withdrawals, sure, but that doesn’t change the addiction and more likely will just cause resentment and make a person sink to even lower depths. If you take away a person’s drug of choice and they’re not ready for change, it’s more than likely that they will become desperate and move on to something even more dangerous. What an addict needs more than anything is love. Not enabling but not “tough love” either, just unconditional love. An addict already feels unlovable and ashamed, you need to show them that you will be there for them no matter what, you don’t judge, and you’ll help them through the process whenever they’re ready. In the meantime, focus on their other issues, because drug use is rarely _the_ problem, not initially anyway, it’s a symptom. A lot of people may use drugs but those that actually become helplessly addicted have real problems, maybe trauma or mental health problems or an abusive situation or loneliness or physical pain. A new environment and new friends does also help, since addicts usually withdraw from others and/or band together - at the very least, try to give them company (as a friend or a family member or partner) and other stuff to do. That’s a good start. The rest is up to them.
    (Also, IT’S PRIMINK, holy mf)

      I absolutely love your response. I've been through rehab, I've been through detox, mental health facilities, and ruining my own life through addiction since 2017. But it wasn't until about two years ago that I for the first time in my ENTIRE LIFE was able experience stability and real unconditional love with the people around me. And that's when suddenly the cravings lessened, the need for mind altering substances lessened, the inability to be comfortable with being alone with myself lessened. Rehab didn't help. Immediately relapsed, even after months in there. The mental hospitals didn't help because I always felt invalidated and not heard. But this new life I've started leading has given me the want and drive to do better. And it's thanks to the love those around me are able to give me.
      I hope if it was drugs for Marina, she's able to get help in the same ways I was. She deserves it. Thanks for reading my rambles. ❤️

    Her behaviour honestly just seemed like someone high as shit on MDMA and some psychedelics. I’ve seen people have the same revelations like wanting to become a god after death and coming back to talk to someone while high and also the strange arm movement is similar to what most people on a comedown or withdrawing experience. I don’t think she was mentally ill at all just on a few drugs.

      Well people who get manic or psychotic when on drugs have mental illness. What i mean with this comment is that mental illness is not inherently a bad thing and it's very common. If we stop seeing it as this really bad shameful thing, people like Marina will seek mental help instead of turning to shamans who give them drugs.

It's disturbing to see so many people speculating about her mental health, possible diagnoses etc - as if her health was their play thing. It's so damaging, especially for those struggling and who need help. Encouraging self-diagnosis can be so dangerous.

    It’s giving Britney Spears vibes. The way she can’t stand still while being on camera, swaying from one foot to the other. Definitely a nervous habit, not necessarily from drug use, but certain drugs definitely have a lasting effect on your behavior and nervous system. Lithium being one of them. Which is also a popular drug to give people who have schizophrenia and such. But just like the Britney situation I don’t think we’ll ever know the whole truth unfortunately. And also, people in this mental state can FEEL like they’re just fine when they’re actually not, because they get so used to it, which is why it’s so hard to convince some people to get treatment.

    • @Sarajean913
      @Sarajean913 Год назад +9

      The whole situation of it is like what Britney is going through on the other side too - all the absolutely wild conspiracies about her being replaced bc one tiktoker posted an obviously manipulated video and claimed it was a filter glitch (like guys, we all know how to use cap cut in on some level bffr) to the claims on her mental health and drug abuse, and now that she is getting divorced it’s back to shaming her for her posts and saying she’s on drugs… and it’s like people PLEASE we will never know, we have no right to know and she is just trying to cope from 13 years of trauma that included pumping her full of lithium… obviously she is going through it, will continue to go through it but there’s no conspiracy or neat little answer that will wrap it up. Life & humans are complicated and that included influencers & celebrities lives and humanity

    This was a blast from the past, haha. I had forgotten about it, but now I remember when this was going on. From the start my theory was mental illness or drugs. She's at the right age for a lot of mental illnesses to first show and she did display a lot of traits from that. Seems like she is doing better now, but like you said, it definitely changed her. I feel bad for all the hate and ridicule she had to endure, it definitely can't have made it better.
    I've been toeing the line of psychosis myself for the last six months and it was when I thought I had gotten better my friends really started worrying for me. Which was scary as fuck because I was like "No, I know I've been unwell, but this is real this time" and just felt like the entire world turned against me. Before that I still had the wherewithal to understand that I was acting crazy even though I couldn't help it. But after that I truly felt I had come out of it. I still kinda do. And I still haven't gone into full blown psychosis, just borderline.
    Regardless of if it's drugs or mental health I really hope she has a good support system and is well.

    As someone who did a lot of psychedelics in high school/early college and came out the other side okay, but DEFINITELY different than how I had been before, I wish people would have had more empathy for her directly after the whole SaveMarinaJoyce thing ended. Especially if she was still in the midst of it, and much of her strange tweets say that she probably was. If I had had my behaviors and ramblings during that period of my life psychoanalyzed by the entire internet WHILE it was happening?? Yeah, I’d be kinda fucked up afterwards too!

      Bipolar disorder. People with the disorder can be perceived relatively normal until their reamblings start. RUclips is a great place to ramble... Mania often leads to psychosis and the longer you stay untreated the bigger the rabbit hole goes. My friend was like that, started with high energy, then drugs and psychedelics, then more delusions, then more drugs and delusion. He found himself becoming god and the master of "frequencies" and later killed himself when it all came crashing down. He was forced in to psychatric care once, but way too late and was to far in to his delusions so no treatment or motivation to do so, after all he was god in his own mind. Scary stuff, 4 years from being a normal friend to dead.

    the final ‘explanation’ video (if you can call it that) was actually how she was not only taking drugs but suffering with MS which she claimed has been completely cured by ayurvedic medicine and becoming spiritual; which is false, ms cannot be cured and treatment is focused mostly on managing symptoms. i really hope marina sees what she’s doing can be damaging to herself, it’s honestly crazy what she’s been through.
    also turns out her boyfriend at the time was supportive but take that with a grain of salt since it came from the explanation video which is already questionable anyways
