This is not his first book, so I think it seemed the reasonable solution. As an editor it just bugs me that he didn’t let anyone work on it. Maybe it was to turn it around faster, but dang. It was difficult to read and see how I’d have been able to help shape it and improve it. There’s so many issues just from my cursory glance. But you get what you pay for, so I’m just relieved it was free for most people! 😅

This guy is just a ex addict who got hired at the rehab he went to, so now he thinks his a therapist. A lot of rehab hire their own best patients to save money. Its cheaper to pay a ex addict $100 to $500 a month plus free room and free food to work 60-80 hours a week, than to pay a professional minimum $3,500-$4,500 a month to work only 40 hour a week. All rehabs do it to save money. This is all this guy was. Just because you were addict who work at a rehab doesn't make you a specialist at mental health. Just because I had a heart attack, doesn't make me a expert in heart disease.

Saying "no" is not toxic. Setting boundaries is extremely important in mental health. Sure it wasn't nice and sweet and the most polite phrasing. It's an extremely minimalist and neutral tone, which seems to me a good strategy in this situation. No one is entitled to your time, body, presence or niceness.

It typically isn't going to garner a healthy response from anyone to have a little more public humiliation thrown their way while reaching out. I feel the same way. I feel like he's one of those violent persons who thinks they can do no wrong while doing wrong, and is then continuously confused why people respond poorly to them once they get to know them better. I would not be surprised if that's what happened at that job he had. But it's easier to spin it like he's blameless. And then he just sits around wondering why everyone is so awful to him and hates him so much, becoming angrier and angrier and doing more and more damage out of feelings of petty vengeance. While still considering himself absolutely without flaw (since always or since rehabilitation) and the victim in all of it and justified. That's such a dangerous mindset. Especially since he's a big, intimidating and manipulative person. That combination of traits can do a lot of damage easily. I wish he'd consider he's not perfect and his obsessive and threatening behaviour is very simply wrong. I grew up with a man very much like him, so just watching him now makes my skin crawl. He gives off all the same warning signs. Someone who will tremendously hurt you for a slight one day, real or imagined. And who will feel proud of hurting you. He thinks seeking out violent confrontation with a complete stranger is a morally superior and impressive thing, that should say it all.

How unhealthy it must be make your whole identity this event. Where as most youtubers get cancelled and eventually move on, it consumes him. He may not be doing drugs or alcohol, but he very much has an addictive personality.
He's obsessed with everyone else being wrong and still wants the parade he apperently thought he was going to get. He can't rest until everyone realizes how good and perfect and how he was right all along and other people just hate him for no reason. Cancel culture may be toxic and difficult to live through but it's impossible to have respect for anyone who likes to claim they did nothing wrong and it all just fell on them just because, instead of the fact that they were caught in their shady as things they did by other people than the blind subscribes that adore them.

The more I see about Rewired Soul the more disturbing it is that he tried to be a helpful person towards those with mental health issues. He genuinely seems off his rocker and needs help himself.
Emo Rat not everyone with personality disorders have anger issues, and I understand that is a stigma you dont want, but it would be reckless to pretend irritability and quick to anger aren’t dsm-5 symptoms of many personality disorders. Personality disorders and bipolar disorders do really fucked up things to emotions and really suck. Being emotional and overly trusting are symptoms, but so is being socially manipulative and irritable. That doesn’t mean you are a bad person for struggling with a horrid disorder. Especially if you fight it, seek to gain control, and do the right things to own it. But some people dont and emotions take full control. I can completely see him having BPD due to the manipulation symptom. Also, fabrication and mild delusion of what happened or the facts can also be part of BPD. Just my 2 cents.

I had anger problems before my addiction. Mine stemmed from abuse which led to PTSD. My addiction had nothing to do with it. I still have anger issues. I don't handle stress well, and I snap a lot. Nobody to blame but me, and I am working on it. However, mine is short burst snaps. I don't hold grudges or act all obsessive like Chris. I think it's always personality. Because when you get clean, and the withdrawal goes away, the anger calms down. Unless you're angry anyway.
i always think people who flex about doing charity work or donating are just doing it to make them feel better about themselves because they do horrible shit in their life.

Okay Primink, I just had to comment again because I finally got a hold of a free copy to read for myself as you've spiked my curiosity. All I really have to say is that it was the most narcissistic piece of trash i had ever read. No author in their right mind would ever write and introduction to their back story and personal content like Chris did. If he wanted to set a precedent for what he's about and how cancel culture influenced him, it could have been one or two chapters maximum. The one thing that really pissed me off is when he compared himself to the gal that had an inappropriate video of her leaked and was harrassed for it...he had the nerve to say that his DM, showing that he does nothing but add fuel to the fire, was much like her situation. Reading this book has made me very ill with how he minimizes and invalidates the people who dare critique him. In his whole chapter on you all he does is call you a kid to invalidate your opinion on his content as well as over glorified how he responded to you in the comment section. This man has delusions of grandeur in his lost mission of mental health awareness. This man is very lost and despite his tragic back story as an addict, I have no sympathy for him or his issues. He's a grown ass man and it's time to step up and recognize, and I mean sincerely recognize, when he is truly wrong. Never been so angry at a man in my life.
Ugh even just the beginning about him working in treatment is frustrating. Clients aren’t always going to “be grateful” to be in treatment, because not everyone is ready/willing to get sober yet. It happens. Our job is to help them as much as we can. We need to be kind, so that if they leave and relapse, when they hit their rock bottom they will come back to us and get sober. Burn out in this industry is real, but his new employers not really liking him makes total sense. A lot of times when we get sober, another addiction will take its place if we aren’t careful. (ex: When I got clean, my eating disorder got worse). It *appears* drama/social media took place of his drug addiction. I hope he can find a better community to surround himself with that are able to hold him accountable- I hope he’s willing to be held accountable. Just needed to get that out I guess. I know this vid is old, but his channel always frustrated me.
Ive seen plenty of people who seem to use social media in this way, and its destructive. Ive seen families fall apart because a woman turned on her husband and children. She streamed fights and the relationship was incredibly toxic. It ended in divorce and the woman kept making videos and going after critics all the great stuff. Unfortunately I dont remember who she was so im not sure if shes gotten help or is doing ok.
I've noticed in recovery, when someone's brand new, not really committed or not really sober, they are REALLY preachy and he's also so erratic I'm not sure if that's just how he is but he doesn't seem truly sober and in recovery
I was looking for someone else who is in recovery or has seen someone else’s recovery journey firsthand to say this. Chris reminds me of someone who has a “Messiah complex” or enlightenment from their recovery that they want to preach to everyone without having legitimate credentials to back up what they are saying. I have no doubt that Chris has an incredible life-story to tell about his recovery, but he appears very juvenile in how he responds to people. The text about how he is “glad Primink is dealing with the sober Chris and not addict Chris” while simultaneously threatening/harassing Primink is a huge red flag for his recovery and his mentality towards other people. He might be sober of alcohol/pain pills, but I have a feeling that he has substituted these addictions for other addictions (street drugs, nicotine, drama, etc.) and he is chasing a high, which is fueling his behavior and keeping him from truly being in recovery.
that crossed my mind, another thing was he is switching his DOC. ( DrugOfChoice) meaning it’s the preaching, fame & drama he is getting high on instead of pills 💊

I love how he try’s to be subtle about how good he is. Like at 14:06 he asks his mentor if he should confront primink and the mentor is like does he deserve it? Why doesn’t he deserve it? And he goes into a spiel about how he came to the conclusion that primink is just doing his job and he can’t hate on that. He makes sure everyone knows that it was HIM that came to that conclusion all on his own, no help from his mentor cause he doesn’t need help to be an amazing guy. When obviously It had nothing to do with his “mentor”, he just used that because he wanted to make his brag seem more subtle, but he’s not smart enough to do that without being painfully obvious. Then he brags about his personal growth in the next paragraph. He can’t stop praising himself for 5 minutes. He thinks he’s so enlightened and mature. But if he really was then why does he want to “punk” a 19 year old kid? He’s so cringe, he needs (real) help.

It was difficult to read and see how I’d have been able to help shape it and improve it. There’s so many issues just from my cursory glance. This guy is just a ex addict who got hired at the rehab he went to, so now he thinks his a therapist. A lot of rehab hire their own best patients to save money. Its cheaper to pay a ex addict $100 to $500 a month plus free room and free food to work 60-80 hours a week, than to pay a professional minimum $3,500-$4,500 a month to work only 40 hour a week. All rehabs do it to save money. This is all this guy was. Just because you were addict who work at a rehab doesn't make you a specialist at mental health.

Saying "no" is not toxic. Setting boundaries is extremely important in mental health. Sure it wasn't nice and sweet and the most polite phrasing. It's an extremely minimalist and neutral tone, which seems to me a good strategy in this situation. No one is entitled to your time, body, presence or niceness.

Emo Rat not everyone with personality disorders have anger issues, and I understand that is a stigma you dont want, but it would be reckless to pretend irritability and quick to anger aren’t dsm-5 symptoms of many personality disorders. Personality disorders and bipolar disorders do really fucked up things to emotions and really suck. Being emotional and overly trusting are symptoms, but so is being socially manipulative and irritable. That doesn’t mean you are a bad person for struggling with a horrid disorder. Especially if you fight it, seek to gain control, and do the right things to own it. But some people dont and emotions take full control. I can completely see him having BPD due to the manipulation symptom. Also, fabrication and mild delusion of what happened or the facts can also be part of BPD. Just my 2 cents.

I had anger problems before my addiction. Mine stemmed from abuse which led to PTSD. My addiction had nothing to do with it. I still have anger issues. I don't handle stress well, and I snap a lot. Nobody to blame but me, and I am working on it. However, mine is short burst snaps. I don't hold grudges or act all obsessive like Chris. I think it's always personality. Because when you get clean, and the withdrawal goes away, the anger calms down. Unless you're angry anyway.

Okay Primink, I just had to comment again because I finally got a hold of a free copy to read for myself as you've spiked my curiosity.
All I really have to say is that it was the most narcissistic piece of trash i had ever read. No author in their right mind would ever write and introduction to their back story and personal content like Chris did. If he wanted to set a precedent for what he's about and how cancel culture influenced him, it could have been one or two chapters maximum.
The one thing that really pissed me off is when he compared himself to the gal that had an inappropriate video of her leaked and was harrassed for it...he had the nerve to say that his DM, showing that he does nothing but add fuel to the fire, was much like her situation.
Reading this book has made me very ill with how he minimizes and invalidates the people who dare critique him. In his whole chapter on you all he does is call you a kid to invalidate your opinion on his content as well as over glorified how he responded to you in the comment section.
This man has delusions of grandeur in his lost mission of mental health awareness. This man is very lost and despite his tragic back story as an addict, I have no sympathy for him or his issues. He's a grown ass man and it's time to step up and recognize, and I mean sincerely recognize, when he is truly wrong.

Ugh even just the beginning about him working in treatment is frustrating. Clients aren’t always going to “be grateful” to be in treatment, because not everyone is ready/willing to get sober yet. It happens. Our job is to help them as much as we can. We need to be kind, so that if they leave and relapse, when they hit their rock bottom they will come back to us and get sober. Burn out in this industry is real, but his new employers not really liking him makes total sense.
A lot of times when we get sober, another addiction will take its place if we aren’t careful. (ex: When I got clean, my eating disorder got worse). It *appears* drama/social media took place of his drug addiction. I hope he can find a better community to surround himself with that are able to hold him accountable- I hope he’s willing to be held accountable. Just needed to get that out I guess. I know this vid is old, but his channel always frustrated me.
Ive seen plenty of people who seem to use social media in this way, and its destructive. Ive seen families fall apart because a woman turned on her husband and children. She streamed fights and the relationship was incredibly toxic. It ended in divorce and the woman kept making videos and going after critics all the great stuff. Unfortunately I dont remember who she was so im not sure if shes gotten help or is doing ok.

I've noticed in recovery, when someone's brand new, not really committed or not really sober, they are REALLY preachy and he's also so erratic I'm not sure if that's just how he is but he doesn't seem truly sober and in recovery

I was looking for someone else who is in recovery or has seen someone else’s recovery journey firsthand to say this. Chris reminds me of someone who has a “Messiah complex” or enlightenment from their recovery that they want to preach to everyone without having legitimate credentials to back up what they are saying.
I have no doubt that Chris has an incredible life-story to tell about his recovery, but he appears very juvenile in how he responds to people. The text about how he is “glad Primink is dealing with the sober Chris and not addict Chris” while simultaneously threatening/harassing Primink is a huge red flag for his recovery and his mentality towards other people.
He might be sober of alcohol/pain pills, but I have a feeling that he has substituted these addictions for other addictions (street drugs, nicotine, drama, etc.) and he is chasing a high, which is fueling his behavior and keeping him from truly being in recovery.
that crossed my mind, another thing was he is switching his DOC. ( DrugOfChoice) meaning it’s the preaching, fame & drama he is getting high on instead of pills 💊

I love how he try’s to be subtle about how good he is. Like at 14:06 he asks his mentor if he should confront primink and the mentor is like does he deserve it? Why doesn’t he deserve it?
And he goes into a spiel about how he came to the conclusion that primink is just doing his job and he can’t hate on that. He makes sure everyone knows that it was HIM that came to that conclusion all on his own, no help from his mentor cause he doesn’t need help to be an amazing guy. When obviously It had nothing to do with his “mentor”, he just used that because he wanted to make his brag seem more subtle, but he’s not smart enough to do that without being painfully obvious.
Then he brags about his personal growth in the next paragraph. He can’t stop praising himself for 5 minutes. He thinks he’s so enlightened and mature.
But if he really was then why does he want to “punk” a 19 year old kid? He’s so cringe, he needs (real) help.
My 4-year-old nephew is going through a phase where whenever someone pisses him off, he says, “Don’t make me hurt you!” That’s what that section reminded me of!

i feel like this dude chris is just a really sensitive guy and is hurt easily, when he feels like someone doesnt like him or he is criticized, he gets really defensive. its because he is insecure and feels a strong need to prove himself, that he is good, convince everyone that he is a good person.. essentially he just craves love and acceptance
