If you rub the sunscreen in your hands to "warm it up" first, it spreads much easier on your face. Also try doing it in 2 layers instead of just 1. I'm much darker than you, I'm actually chocolate, and I use the Coppertone. There's a very very slight cast, which I don't mind since I usually wear pressed powder or foundation. I like that it dries matte.
But thats probably because the sunscreen already sink into your hands skin. Since you rub it a lot on your hands. i suggest apply it right away onto your face..
I'm dark skin and I use Alba and it doesn't leave a white cast at all. I use it in two layers and I works great for me and my son. Does take some time to rub in but it definitely works on my dark brown skin.
Mineral sunscreens are based on 2 very WHITE pigments. It's the biggest disadvantage that people who chose mineral sunscreens have to deal with. The sunbum leaves a cast, but other than that, it's very good. And it combines great with make up. Actually, all of the sunscreens you tried here are pretty good and can be made to work with experience. The more you use them, the more you find ways to make them work
My favorites are Elta MD's UV Restore(oil free) tinted SPF 40, and Avene's high protection compact SPF 50...Avene comes in 2 different tints that adjust to skin tone(more of a matte finish). Both are well worth the price and last a long time. Best part, I save money by not purchasing foundation separately and also nothing gets in my way when reapplying...
EltaMD's UV sport is the BEST EVER combination sunscreen (mineral+chemical filters). I've tried countless sunscreens containing zinc oxide on my olive/light brown hispanic skin and the white cast is unbearable. UV sport is the only one I can wear. I absolutely LOVE IT
Bc its easier to see the white cast with darker skin so if u see a white cast on her and she's light than its going to be twice as white educate ur self!
I think the redness and bumps after using the Alba Botanica could be most likely caused by the Alcohol. If you’re looking for a similar sunscreen without the Alcohol, I recommend the Badger Balm Clear Zinc sunscreen.
The mineral based sunscreens are white because of the minerals. That’s what helps to block the UVs. It’s not that they are not inclusive to people of color. Most of these sunscreens have never added pigments or tints of any kind so even on whiter skin it appears very white. Recently they have started selling mineral sunscreens with pigment to blend into skin tones but unfortunately it’s become overpriced due to popularity. I would choose one for the face then use these ones you tested on the body.
Scouring the internet after similar experience found more of the same, but also few very good mineral options: Kinship self reflect probiotic moisturizing sunscreen zinc oxide spf 32 Biossance squalane + zinc sheer mineral sunscreen Bliss Block Star Invisible Daily Sunscreen SPF 30 Eleven by Venus Williams Unrivaled Sun Serum SPF 35 Krave The Beat Shield (this one is chemical though)
Cotz is sooo slept on it’s the best mineral sunscreen for dry and darker skin tones. You just have to apply in 2 layers and let it sit for 5-10 mins before going out. I have a similar skin tone to the girl in the video and cotz works for me.
I just ordered MD solar science sunscreens on line. They have tinted and it is Dr formulated . Zinc and Titanium dioxide as ingredients. I am a pharmacist and suffer from melasma and this one works best under make up too like a primer.
Your hair is so cute in the clip where you're wearing the yellow top! Also, don't listen to anyone saying "a little goes a long way" because that's not true. You won't get the full SPF rated on the bottle if you don't apply enough. A good rule of thumb is to squirt suncreen all along the length of your first finger and that's how much to put on your face, then do that again for your neck and ears. That will get you very close to the amount they tested for the rated SPF. It will also help you be more consistent when you test them so we don't have to ;)
Love your videos !! Do try the Korean and Japanese sunscreens heard they are far superior filters. The block star sunscreen is also super good , 100%mineral with no white cast
The only thing that make them a no go for me is the tiny bottles they come in, isn’t sustentable, considering you have to put a lot on and reapply, one little Tube lasts me only one week. I much prefer a European sunscreen with far superior uva protection and I can get a big 3 oz. tube for around 30,Eucerin and bioderma make great ones.
@@SG-wq4rm the ones that I prefer are not mineral, I’m not sure if they have them, I have only tried the ones with the new filters that are not allowed in USA.
Thank you for testing all these sunscreens. I was tempted to buy the blue lizard one. Now after seeing your white cast I'm going to pass on that Blue Lizard SPF 50.
Such a great sport. Thank you for this. Its recommended a 1/4 teaspoon is enuf to do your face and neck and get the spf stated on the bottle. I keep the teaspoon with my skin care products.
I’m so happy That I’m so pale, I don’t have to worry abt white cast, although I’m so sorry for y’all genuinely it’s prob such a struggle to find a good sunscreen that doesn’t have strong white cast, also ur soo pretty
You should try EltaMD uv physical. Feels matte and it’s mineral only. I’ve got normal to combo skin and it felt slightly drying so you might like it if you want matte/non oily feel.
Thank you for the reviews. You are so pretty and you have a very beautiful smile. I think I'm going to order the Blue Lizard sunscreens, both the face and the body tubes. Have a lovely day 😃
19:04 for the blue lizard: Every video I see everyone squeezing too much of the sunscreen out and applying it…No wonder they think it’s greasy! I accidentally squeezed out just like a nickel sized amount and it was enough to cover both my forearms without it looking all white or greasy, I could see the shine tho and feel that it’s on (like if you applied lotion to your hands or arms)
try korean sunscreens! or japanese ones. they dont leave white cast and they protect more than U.S. sunscreens. I use one from tree root? and i previously used the japanese biore. both are amazing!
Omg thank you for this review! I just picked this up but was skeptical… cause I’m picky with sunscreen and HATE a cast. Even though I was going to use this on my body…I guess I’m returning it!
Australian blue lizard seems to be too oily. Will you please do a review on Suncros Tint sunscreen and need a genuine review. Whether suncros tint will be suitable for cricket.
Have you tried either the Walgreen's Sensitive, Walgreen's Clear Zinc, or CVS Clear Zinc? All of these are a combination zinc oxide and octycrylene sunscreen and each formula is nearly identical. I love all of these, they are really affordable, comfortable to wear, and look great.
I love them too, unfortunately for me, somehow the product gets in my mouth, making it taste really bitter, what a shame. And the same goes for anything with avobenzone ☹️
You should wear sunscreen on your eyelids too. The skin there is very thin. Also your neck and chest. Also, if you use mineral makeup on top, it will disguise the white and give an extra layer of protection.
Would you ever consider applying a spf powder to diffuse the white cast? Sun bum and Alba didn’t leave a terrible cast. I’m medium skin but on the lighter side of tone so Alba is probably my pick so far but I feel that could work for someone like you. I hope this doesn’t come off offensive a lot of sunscreens are very white because of the ingredients in them.
No it’s not offensive. The problem I have with spf powders is that they can be very drying. I have pretty dry skin, zinc and titanium already drying it out. Even with a good moisturizer, I usually don’t prefer powder products.
Maybe the EltaMD UV Physical (tinted) works better, or the Australian Gold tinted options, both mineral. If I use EltaMD UV Sport in the summer I have to use a bit Australia Gold to remove the shine. And the Sum Bum is silicon primer, doesn't really dry down for me
Listen I am like white white (lightest shade in Fenty type of light) and the blue lizard makes even me have a BAD white cast.. I have no clue how it's so highly rated
It all depends on what your trying to accomplish. If you want to protect your skin and avoid cancer use blue lizard. If your going to a fashion show use something else.
Blue lizard is a great brand to protect from the sun, unfortunately its so hard to formulate a mineral sunscreen that’s doesn’t leave a withe cast and for that reason only, people tend to give bad reviews to good products.
The blue lizard sunscreen is OK on me and I'm light/medium. I also don't use a lot and spread a thin layer. It is too oily for me and i have dry skin but a thin layer with powder on top helps. I do have a bit white cast but not too bad , it's covered with makeup. i agree that sunscreens should be more inclusive in 2023. I used to love black girl sunscreen because it dries super clear but i reacted horribly in hives to the chemical sunscreen.
