If you rub the sunscreen in your hands to "warm it up" first, it spreads much easier on your face. Also try doing it in 2 layers instead of just 1. I'm much darker than you, I'm actually chocolate, and I use the Coppertone. There's a very very slight cast, which I don't mind since I usually wear pressed powder or foundation. I like that it dries matte.

Mineral sunscreens are based on 2 very WHITE pigments. It's the biggest disadvantage that people who chose mineral sunscreens have to deal with. The sunbum leaves a cast, but other than that, it's very good. And it combines great with make up. Actually, all of the sunscreens you tried here are pretty good and can be made to work with experience.
The more you use them, the more you find ways to make them work

My favorites are Elta MD's UV Restore(oil free) tinted SPF 40, and Avene's high protection compact SPF 50...Avene comes in 2 different tints that adjust to skin tone(more of a matte finish). Both are well worth the price and last a long time. Best part, I save money by not purchasing foundation separately and also nothing gets in my way when reapplying...

The mineral based sunscreens are white because of the minerals. That’s what helps to block the UVs. It’s not that they are not inclusive to people of color. Most of these sunscreens have never added pigments or tints of any kind so even on whiter skin it appears very white. Recently they have started selling mineral sunscreens with pigment to blend into skin tones but unfortunately it’s become overpriced due to popularity. I would choose one for the face then use these ones you tested on the body.

Your hair is so cute in the clip where you're wearing the yellow top! Also, don't listen to anyone saying "a little goes a long way" because that's not true. You won't get the full SPF rated on the bottle if you don't apply enough. A good rule of thumb is to squirt suncreen all along the length of your first finger and that's how much to put on your face, then do that again for your neck and ears. That will get you very close to the amount they tested for the rated SPF. It will also help you be more consistent when you test them so we don't have to ;)

    19:04 for the blue lizard:
Every video I see everyone squeezing too much of the sunscreen out and applying it…No wonder they think it’s greasy! I accidentally squeezed out just like a nickel sized amount and it was enough to cover both my forearms without it looking all white or greasy, I could see the shine tho and feel that it’s on (like if you applied lotion to your hands or arms)

I’m medium skin but on the lighter side of tone so Alba is probably my pick so far but I feel that could work for someone like you. Haha the first part gave me a chuckle, thank you ❤️ . The ones that gave me prominent white cast, I don’t like them even under make up cause I usually like to use skin tints and they don’t have high coverage. Sun bum has a matte texture to it so it works well under dewy foundation, I personally don’t use very matte sunscreens cause I have dry skin. So the one that worked well for me under makeup is the Elta Md one, it worked the best gray cast wise and texture wise under makeup.

White casting doesn't bother me in the slightest I'm going to sweat it off anyways and I'd rather rave to much than to little.

Im so glad I found your channel! Please keep reviewing sunscreens for us ppl of color 😂
Im about half a shad lighter than you and I also got a noticeable gray cast with the sunburn sunscreen
The only sunscreen I have not had a white cast with so far is the Cotz primer sunscreen spf 40. Downside is it’s a bit oily and takes a while to dry down.

Sunbum has a tinted mineral sunscreen. I’m about a shade darker than her and the white cast is workable and doesn’t look noticeable after a while

Girl, you put too much on lol. A little goes a long way. I use this and I find that rubbing this with my palms and rubbing this all over my face and neck with my whole hands including some patting motions here in there all in a slower fashion just blends right into my skin and white cast dissipates. Takes time, love, and tenderness! I haven’t tried taking pictures to see if there is any flashback though. Lol. For a mineral sunscreen, love it and it’s hard to find a good mineral sunscreen! Just glad it’s not so expensive and for a product that only takes a little to go a long way, this is awesome.

Actually, the recommended amount of sunscreen for an adult face is a 1/4 table spoon, if you want to archive the rate on the label. So, if you buy an SPF factor 50+ but you only apply a little because "it goes a long way”, you are actually only getting like factor 10 or 5, so, yeah, she needs to apply a big amount.
